Women Right Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of women's rights is both a challenging and rewarding endeavor.
The complexity arises from the multifaceted nature of the subject matter, as it encompasses
historical, social, cultural, and legal dimensions. Addressing the evolution of women's rights
across different time periods and cultures requires meticulous research and a nuanced
understanding of diverse perspectives.
Moreover, navigating the intricacies of gender inequality, discrimination, and the struggle for
equal rights demands a sensitive and informed approach. One must delve into the historical
struggles women faced, the milestones achieved, and the persistent challenges that persist today.
Analyzing societal attitudes, cultural norms, and the impact of legislation adds further layers of
complexity to the task.
The essay should not only be well-researched but also thought-provoking, providing insightful
analyses and drawing connections between historical contexts and contemporary issues.
Balancing the academic tone with a passionate advocacy for women's rights is essential, as it
requires not only presenting facts but also compellingly arguing for the necessity of continued
progress in this realm.
Additionally, addressing the global nature of the topic requires an awareness of cultural nuances
and regional variations in the fight for women's rights. This adds an extra layer of difficulty, as it
necessitates a comprehensive understanding of diverse perspectives and experiences.
In conclusion, writing an essay on women's rights demands a combination of research skills,
empathy, and critical thinking. It is a challenging but worthwhile endeavor, offering the
opportunity to contribute to the ongoing dialogue surrounding equality and justice. For those
seeking assistance with such essays or exploring a wide array of topics, it's worth considering

Don Marquis V.S. Judith Jarvis Thomson. Two Abortion...
Don Marquis v.s. Judith Jarvis Thomson Two abortion arguments Judith Jarvis
Thomson and Don Marquis both have different views on abortion. Thomson
believes that in some cases, abortion is morally permissible, due to the life of the
mother. Marquis believes that abortion is almost always morally impermissible,
except in extreme circumstances, because the fetus has a future life. I will simply
evaluate each of the authors reasoning s that defend their belief, and give my
argument for why I believe Judith Thomson s essay is more convincing. Thompson
starts by expressing a baby is a man and that executing a man is, basically, murder,
and along these lines ethically off base. Thompson utilizes numerous analogies that
can be contrasted with... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A woman never agrees to being raped, thus she has no obligation to sustain the
fetus life. Second, the author uses her expanding child example. Trapped in a tiny
house with a growing child and you are up against a wall, and in a few minutes,
you will be crushed, on the other hand the child won t be crushed. The only thing
that will save her life is to kill the child. Is abortion permissible to save the pregnant
woman s life? Because the mother being compared to that of the house, this brings
up the idea that the mother should be able to do as she pleases with her body, and
that her body carries more significance than the fetus right to life. This brings in the
argument of a third party intervention, such as a doctor. If a doctor did not agree to
perform an abortion, to save this mother, then the mother would be denied her
rights, and the right to decide what is done with her body. If a woman doesn t have
a right to their body, then you should not be unplugged, thus, save the violinists life.
This reasoning is concluded with two smart statements, It seems to me that to treat
the matter in this very way (refuse abortion for the mother s health) is to refuse to
grant the very status of person which is so firmly insisted on for the fetus by anti
abortion advocates. (243) and a fetus who existence is due to rape has no right to use
their mother s bodies, and aborting them is not depriving them of anything they had a

This paper serves to compare the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics
Standards for Secondary Mathematics (NCTM), Common Core State Standards
(CCSS), and Virginia s Standards of Learning (VSOL). The comparison will include
similarities and differences among the three documents as well as discuss their
strengths and weaknesses. Lastly, a combined setof standards will be developed and
presented, encompassing the strengths of the various standards. The first similarity
between the three documents would be the structure of the standards. Each document
varies in the numberof standards, but all are separated through domains of
mathematical learning. For example, out of the fourteen NCTM Curriculum
Standards for Secondary Mathematics, five standards detail the process of learning
mathematics. These standards include Mathematics as Problem Solving,
Mathematics as Communication, Mathematics as Reasoning, Mathematical
Connections, and Mathematical Structures. Similarly, Common Core State Standards
provide the state of Alabama with Mathematical Practice Standards which parallel
with similar methods of learning mathematics. Within the Virginia Standards of
Learning are embedded similar languages describing mathematical learning. There are
several parallel thoughts concerning the mathematical learning process. NCTM
Standard 1: Mathematics as Problem Solving outlines the expectations for students to
refine their method of problem solving by investigation and integration of
Power Of Self-Definition summary
In the article named The Power of Self Definition by Patricia Hill Collin, Collins
centers around the significance of woman valuing herself and having the confidence
and the freedom to do so. Throughout this piece, Collins paints a picture to her
audience about a life of a black woman. Traditionally, such women were blues
singers, poets, autobiographers, storytellers, and orator valid by everyday Black
women as specialists on a Black women s posture. She at that point continues to
portray that it is so imperative to locate an aggregate, self characterized voice for
individuals from the African Americanwomen s activist group. Be that as it may, she

Operant Conditioning Essay
As a dog owner, I know how important it is to teach your pets how to behave. Yet, it
is important to understand how learning works so that you can develop a strategy
to properly and quickly teach your dog. The example of training a dog to roll over
is a great model for analysing the aspects of learning involved with this process.
Understanding how operant conditioning works and how to reinforce a desired
response to that stimuli will help trainers effectively teach dogs. Psychologists,
such as Myers (2013), define learning as the process of acquiring new knowledge
and behaviors. In this case we are specifically discussing the acquisition of a
certain response to a stimulus. The stimulus is the trainer s command and the
desired behavior is the dog to roll over onto his back. These ideas all are based on
Edward L. Thorndike s principle called the law of effect, wherein he stated that
behaviors followed by a positive outcomes are more likely to increase in
probability. These are all important components of the learning process, especially
on the level of training a dog or instilling a simple behavior. Operant conditioning,
is defined as an organism developing a link between its behaviors and consequences
that follow those behaviors. The goal of operant conditioning is to develop a
desired behavior in response to a given stimulus. When teaching a dog to roll over,
the trainer wants the dog to rollover in response to his command. In this way the dog
rolling onto its back is the

Medieval And Millennial
Medieval to Millennial A Pilgrimage of Meaning
In the Medieval times, many Christians went on pilgrimages to venerate sacred
objects or places. They traveled around Europe visiting churches and taking treasures
with them to set at the sites they visited. During this time, there was an influential
emperor who touch much of Europe with a renewing hand. Emperor Charlemagne
built an empire embodied with the mission to unify the people, attempting to create
one European religion and convert pagan tribes to Christianity. Europe needed a
revival in his eyes and so he set out to promote education and literacy. Charlemagne s
empire created religious unity throughout Europe through architecture, music, and
literature which brought meaning to his life; today people bring similar meaning to
their lives thought the arts they encounter.
On December 25th in the year 800, Pope Leo III crowned Charlemagne the emperor
of the Franks, leading to his Carolingian empire influence and creating the Holy
Roman Empire. Charlemagne s motivation for his empire was Renovatio Romani
Imperii, which translates into Renewal of the Roman Empire. This was a two pronged
approach through religion in both culture and intellect. In an increasingly pagan
world, Charlemagne created meaning by saving Christianity through establishing
unity of the church throughout Europe. It is thought that by his work renewing the
faith, enough people came to know of it and the culture that it stood the test of time.

Mr Birling s Responsibility In An Inspector Calls

Darwinism and Evolution
12 6 96
Evolution, the science of how populations of living organisms change over time in
response to their environment, is the central unifying theme in biology today.
Evolution was first explored in its semi modern form in Charles Darwin s
1859 book, Origin of Species by means of Natural Selection. In this book, Darwin
laid out a strong argument for evolution. He postulated that all species have a
common ancestor from which they are descended. As populations of species moved
into new habitats and new parts of the world, they faced different environmental
conditions. Over time, these populations accumulated modifications, or adaptations,
that allowed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first step in understand evolution in present terms is to mention genetic
engineering (including genetic drift). The first step to understanding genetic
engineering, and embracing its possibilities for society, is to obtain a rough
knowledge base of its history and method. The basis for altering the evolutionary
process is dependent on the understanding of how individuals pass on characteristics
to their offspring. Genetics achieved its first foothold on the secrets of nature s
evolutionary process when an Austrian monk named Gregor
Mendel developed the first laws of heredity. Using these laws, scientists studied the
characteristics of organisms for most of the next one hundred years following
Mendel s discovery. These early studies concluded that each organism has two sets
of character determinants, or genes (Stableford 16). For instance, in regards to eye
color, a child could receive one set of genes from his father that were encoded one
blue, and the other brown. The same child could al so receive two brown genes
from his mother. The conclusion for this inheritance would be the child has a three
in four chance of having brown eyes, and a one in three chance of having blue eyes
(Stableford 16). Genes are transmitted through chromosomes which reside in the
nucleus of every living organism s cells. Each chromosome is made up of fine
strands of deoxyribonucleic acids, or DNA. The information carried

Zino Park used keyboard instead of piano because keyboard could play with many
different sound effects. The title of the fourth song was called, Let s get away from

beginning of the song piano kept playing same melody line repeated and saxophone
was moving wide range of notes and pitch. The rhythm and the tempo of drum
changed as saxophone changed rhythm and the tempo. The bass guitar helped drum
to follow saxophone s rhythm and tempo. The saxophone style was kind of similar
with the how Louis Armstrong was playing a solo. There were two guitars, but
saxophone dominated other instruments and it was difficult to hear other instruments.
The fifth song was hand drummer used sand rattler instead of hand drum. The drum
solo in this song was very powerful and brought the exhilaration of this concert to the
climax. The change of unpredictable rhythm and tempo made audience excited. Many
audiences were clapping with rhythm. The sixth song was in blues style. The Name
of the Song was, I ll see you in my dreams . Just bass guitar, saxophone, drum, and
keyboard were playing. It was short piece song but just enough time to feel blues.
This piece was one of few slow tempo songs in this concert. The mix of bass guitar,
saxophone, drum, and keyboard articulated
Communism And Marxist Ideologies And The Soviet Union
After World War II the Soviet Union led by Stalin maintained a strong presence and
influence in Central and Eastern Europe, specifically, Poland through the communist
Polish United Workers Party (PZPR). In this paper I aim to address the reason why
communism and Marxist ideologies were unsuccessfully received in post war
Poland. I will be arguing *that Marxismwas made into a tool of oppression by the
Soviet Union, and therefore became illegitimate in itself. I intend on arguing this
theory by investigating the goal of the Soviet Union. In addition to this I will
identifying instances where the Soviets and communist puppet parties in Poland had
strayed from traditional Marxist ideologies. Finally I will recognize the opposition
groups and parties that had formed against the Soviet oppression and instillment of
inequality. I will be focusing my paper around analysis of traditional Marxist
ideologies in comparison with post war Stalinist ideologies which claimed to
embody Marxist ideals through their implication within the Soviet Union. By doing
this I intend on proving to the reader that Soviet Marxism was a tool of oppression
and inequality in eastern and central Europe. The Soviet Union post World War II
intended on expanding their political power via communismunder a guise of
spreading Marxist thought; thus transforming Marxist ideology into a tool of Soviet
domination in Poland (Aleksandrowicz, 101). They did this through the Polish
United Workers Party (PZPR) a

amount of electronic devices that he immediately proceeded to plug in as soon as
he got the chance, perhaps thats why the power gave out. James was murdered in
that dark but did Bill have reason to see James dead? With James out of the way he

S. N. 1 Lab Report
As discussed in lecture, the determining factors of a substitution reaction is likely to
occur in either S_N 1 or S_N 2 by: substrates, leaving group, strength of the
nucleophile, and the type of solvent.
When conducting the S_N 1 portion of the experiment, the solvent used was 1%
silver nitrate in ethanol solution (гЂ–AgNOгЂ—_3). This solvent is polar protic.
This is the best type of solvent needed for an S_N 1 reaction because the hydrogen
atom is positively charged while the nucleophile is negatively charged achieving a
hydrogen bond. Two factors that contributed to the rate of reaction for S_N 1 are
stability of the carbocation and the leaving group departure. The more stable the
carbocation, the faster the reaction generates and the better the leaving group, it
creates a carbocation faster, which in turn leads to a ... Show more content on

The following six of the nine alkyl halides produced precipitates at room
temperature: 2 bromobutane, t butyl chloride, crotyl chloride, bromocyclohexane,
bromocyclopentane, and benzyl chloride. All of these alkyl halides reacted in
room temperature because they were either secondary or tertiary carbons except for
crotyl chloride. These types of structures (tertiary) are favored in the case of S_N 1
while secondary can undergo either S_N 1 or S_N 2. The only primary carbon that
reacted quickly was crotyl chloride because it is an allylic substrate, which can
undergo S_N 1. On the other hand the three remaining alkyl halides did not react at
room temperature: 1 chlorobutane, 2 chlorobutane, and bromobenzene. These three
alkyl halides were then heated at 80в„ѓ. 1 chlorobutane s alpha carbon is primary, so
heat is needed in order to create more collision resulting in a reaction. 2 chlorobutane
and 2 bromobutane have similar structures, but the latter reacted in room temperature
because Br is a better leaving group than Cl. Lastly, bromobenzene did not react even

Concrete Curb Research Paper
Although concrete curbs provide a finished, attractive look to streets, driveways
and parking lots, they also offer a variety of useful functions. They can prevent
vegetation from encroaching upon the pavement, discourage parking or driving
on lawns and sidewalks, channel runoff efficiently to storm drains and delineate
property boundaries. All About Concrete Curbs Concrete curbs can be constructed
in various shapes and sizes to help achieve specific goals. For example, pedestrians
are less likely to trip over a curb with square edges, while a high, vertical faced curb
is a strong deterrent to vehicles. Curb heights are normally determined by the
functionality desired, but appearance can also be an important factor. The same is
true for the width of the curb. In most parts of the United States, curb heights
typically range from 4 inches to 8 inches; curb widths usually range from 6 inches to
8 inches. Curbs designed to channel runoff typically border a gutter. Gutters can be
built at the intersection between the curb and the roadway, cast at the same time as
the curb or constructed as a pavement component. Curbs can present a formidable
barrier to people with mobility issues. Curb ramps at intersections or between your

Cars may be driven over them accidentally or intentionally. Tree roots may uplift a
section of curbing. Heavy trucks may scrape against the curb or inadvertently back

simple matter to replace just the damaged section. If you are having concrete curbs
installed or replaced, be sure to turn sprinklers off for between 48 and 72 hours after
the concrete is installed. If concrete gets wet before it is sufficiently cured,
discoloration or blotchiness may

during similar outbreaks in labs in Pennsylvania, Texas and Siena, Italy. In each case,
the affected animals had been imported from a facility in the Philippines. (CDC,

a new species. An epidemiological study conducted by WHO and Uganda Ministry

new Ebola species, and that the outbreak had a mortality rate of 34% (39 deaths). In
2012, there was an outbreak of Bundibugyo ebolavirus in a northeastern province of
the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DR Congo). There were 15 confirmed cases

HISTORY
Many medical researchers speculate the Plague of Athens, which wiped out about
a third of its inhabitants during the Peloponnesian War, may have been caused by
Ebola. As noted earlier, the Ebola virus was first isolated in 1976 during an
outbreak of the disease along the border of Zaire and Sudan. (CDC, 2014) Of all
the outbreaks since 1976 this initial outbreak carried the worst mortality rate,
roughly ninety percent of those affected did not survive. (CDC, 2014) Ebola was
named after a river in the Yambuku district of Democratic Republic of the Congo,
which was then known as Zaire.

Optimism Critical Thinking
What the world gains from optimism. Hellen Keller wrote in her essay titled
Optimism, Part 3: The Practice of Optimism , Optimism is the faith that leads to
achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence. Positive thinking
is the true meaning of hope in the world that can lead to many great successes and
can bring confidence. For example, as my softball season started up last year I knew
I was going to struggle especially knowing my team would be getting a new coach.
The year started with anxiety at a high but as the year continued, I continued to look
on it with optimismand eventually my skills and my ability to use optimism
improved. Optimism helped to give me confidence in myself and to succeed even

decided to enter for the Hugh O Brien Youth Leadership Scholarship (HOBY)
Award during which I had to set certain goals to succeed in the next step. Through
the entire process, I used optimism to guide me through my challenging goals
which helped me to obtain the scholarship. Not only can optimism lead to success
in educational goals but in athletic goals as well. During any athletic game, in this
case for me softball, I found that using optimism to learn from errors can lead to
accomplishing any goal easier. Instead of rejecting the goal after a few mistakes, use
optimism to learn from the mistakes for the future. Using the mentality of optimism
within a goal can lead to great success in accomplishing any set goal whether it be

surrounding areas, by killing and mutilating prostitutes all within a mile of each other
(Biography.com Editors, 2015). During that time, violence towards prostitutes was
not unusual, but the way the bodies were attacked and dismembered lead officials to

In today s day in age, we are provided with many new advances that allow us to
identify criminals. Using fingerprint analysis and DNA, we can streamline the
identification process and allow the perpetrators to be named. With all the
dismemberment Jack the Ripper participated in amongst his victims it is likely he
injured himself in the process. Not only could his DNA have been at the crime scene,
but trace evidence from his hair or clothing fibers could have also been there. At that

can be concluded that with urban technology, Jack the Ripper could have been

A Rake s Progress Essay
William Hogarth is a name well known from the 18th century as one of the best
artists for his work A Rake s Progress. Despite his background that emerged from
unsuccessful parents he did not follow that trend for he used his thoughts about
society to create works of life sized paintings that became so popular that he pushed
for the Copyright Act of 1735 ( National Gallery Website ). Hogarth created A Rake s
Progress in 1733 that contains the main character, Tom Rakewell, within the borders
of Britain and Bedlam, Londonto reflect the madness of the 18th century. The
painting has more than just brilliant craftsmanship but a story behind it that is

A Rake s Progress shows a number of different types of people implicated. For
example, Tom was on his way to the Queen s birthday party when he was stopped
by bailiffs and therefore his lifestyle is actually being encouraged and supported by
aristocrats. In A Rake s Progress, everyone from the Queen to the priest that
performs his marriage of convenience, to common prostitutes, are part of the
problem. But it is not just Hogarth s take no prisoners approach to social
commentary that made him so popular. Printed satire was actually already very
common place and central London was full of bookshops and print sellers that
displayed this kind of work. What Hogarth did do was to tell a story through
pictures. In fact, Hogarth s series were adapted into plays and pantomimes during
his lifetime. His visual drama offered his audience a new way to enjoy satire. The
title A Rake s Progress was referencing John Bunyans The Pilgrims Progress.
Hogarth successfully borrows from popular culture in order to express complicated
ideas through an enjoyable and totally accessible story. Hogarth did this so well, he

Obesity In Super Size Me And Fed Up
In America Obesity has become an epidemic. It has claimed over 400,000 lives just
in the last year alone. This is because 1 in 4 Americans eat at Mcdonalds and other
fast food restaurants every day where they are served toxic food . With the rise of fast
food all over the world obesity has doubled in the past 20 years. At this rate obesity
is expected to pass smoking in deaths. If this trend continues 1 in 3 children will

Sequoia National Park Conservation
Will most special places in America constantly be beautiful and sacred? There is one
thing positive that the nature cannot be frozen in time, it will continue to innovate
and develop. The national parks protect the best of our natural heritage: stunning
landscapes, extraordinary wildlife, and majestic forests. However, a climatechange
forces us to accept that those national parks are endangered and need to be protected.
Warming temperature has become the nation s superior issue that impacted the
balance of the animals and their habitats in the national parks. Over centuries, without
the cooperation of the community, it will not be possible to achieve the preservation
of the national park system.

Understanding of adaptive capacity and regional vulnerability to climate change on

Park managers began setting controlled fires in forests where natural wildfires had

Mapreduce, The Core Programming Language Of The...
Abstract The Hadoop framework allows distributed processing of large data sets
across clusters of commodity computers efficiently. MapReduce, the core
programming language of the Hadoop Ecosystem processes the data stored in
Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS). It is difficult for non programmers to work
with MapReduce. Hadoop supports HiveQL (SQLlike statements) which implicitly
and immediately translates the queries into one or more MapReduce jobs. To help
procedural language developers, Hadoop supports Pig Latin language. This paper
runs a text data processing application with MapReduce, Hive and Pig on single node
windows platform and compares performance in graphical form.

MapReduce: The MapReduce language establishes a base for Hadoop Eco
System. It processes Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS) on large clusters
which are made of thousands of commodity hardware in a reliable and fault tolerant
manner. The operations of MapReduce are performed in Map and Reduce
functions. The Map function works on a set of input values and transforms them
into a set of key/value pairs. The reducer receives all the data for an individual key
from all the mappers and applies Reduce function to achieve the final result.
Pig: The Pig toolkit consists of a compiler that generates MapReduce programs,
bundles their dependencies, and executes them on Hadoop. Pig jobs are written in a
data flow language called Pig Latin and can be executed in both interactive and
batch fashions.[2] Pig does not require the schema for data like SQL, so it is well
suited to process unstructured data.
Hive: Hive is a data warehousing package built on top of Hadoop. Hive s SQL
inspired language, better known as HiveQL or HQL separates the user from the
complexity of MapReduce programming.[3] This approach makes it very fast and
adoptable for people that are already familiar with the syntax of SQL. The HQL
queries are implicitly translated into one or more MapReduce jobs to process the

Property In John Locke s State Of Property
To Locke the state of nature is the state of freedom where one should have
unrestricted liberty. Because the state of nature, one has the ablilty to control their
own body and to control their own possessions. Everyone has this right, but they
cannot control other people s behavior (pg 284). Since we are all equal in Locke s
eyes this means the only freedom we cannot have is the right to infring aginst
anothers liberty. To Locke just like life and liberty propertyis a natural right. To obtain
property in Locke s state of nature is simple all you have to do is put your labour
into it. We are free to make our laubor into property because to Locke property is an
extension of ones labour making it a religious property. When The bible teaches...

It is labor that distinguishes something from the common and makes it private this
is the difference. Locke argues that while we do have a right in common with all
other person to enjoy nature s abundance, each person has an exclusive right to the
fruits of their own earning i.e. apple example. Because labour is punishment
because of god i.e adam and eve. Right to private property created by labour cannot
be right to infignge on others bounty. If we use Locke s apple tree example
according to Locke one take as many apples as he needs but he or she cannot take
more than that. This is because, there is a natural law of restriction of how much
one can appropriate from the commons no one can pick all the apples from the tree
it would contrary to God s law to take more apples then they need. First of all
taking more than you need would be pointless because the apple will rot. Having
the apple rot would be a waste of food, food someone else could have eaten. So by
taking the apple one is infriinign on anothers liberty to have that apple. Locke even
states that it would be a waste of labour. Why expend the extra labour if the apples

In 1972, Congress replaced the State administered programs with the Federally
administered Supplemental Income (SSI) program as an assistance source of last
resort for the aged, blind, or disabled whose income and resources are below
specified levels. The SSI program went into effect in January 1974, administered by
the Social Security Administration (SSA). SSI has been highly successful in
helping society s most vulnerable citizens. These individuals rely on SSI benefits in
order to purchase the basic necessities of food, clothing and shelter. The program

Children as well as adults can get benefits because of blindness and disability.
Blind means you are either blind or have very poor eyesight. Disabled means you
have a physical or mental problem that keeps you from working and is expected to
last a year or to result in death. For a child, Social Security looks at how his or her
disability affects everyday life. Individuals monthly SSI benefit amounts are also
affected by their income, resources, and living arrangements. The more income
you have, the less your SSI payment will be. If your income is over the allowable
limit, you cannot receive SSI. The value of a persons resources (the things they
own) determines whether they are eligible for SSI payments. The limit for
countable resources is $2000 for an individual, and $3000 for a couple. The living
arrangements are important because payments vary depending if you live in your
own place such as a house, apartment, or trailer; or in someone else s household; or
in an institution. The benefits are financed from general revenues, and some states
supplement the Federal benefit. When states add to the federal SSI payment, then
the SSI payment levels are higher in those states. The maximum federal payment
changes yearly. As of January 1, 2000, the federal benefit rate was $512 for an
individual and $769 for a couple. Factors such as race, gender and education all play
a part in who participates in the SSI program. African Americans, other nonwhites,
A Wondering Ideal in Walden Essay
Henry David Thoreau writes of his experiences in his two year experiment of self
reliance on Walden Pond near Concord, Massachusetts. It is my opinion that Thoreau
thought of himself as better than the average person and to an extent better than the
person reading his very work. The allusions and ideals expressed in this work wreak
of a smug and better than though context. The purpose of this experiment was to
enact the philosophies and ideals of self reliance and simplicity. His ideaof simplicity
is strewn throughout this work, ranting through a seemingly indecipherable mixture
of allusions, metaphors, and actual ideas. One that I think is really very important is
the concept of modern improvements (Thoreau 95). During a... Show more content on

Although I do not agree, his reasoning behind it is quite simple. The distance that a
train travels is thirty miles and its fare for this distance is ninety cents, almost a
days wage (96). He says that he can ultimately arrive quicker on foot, than a person
riding this train. He can walk this distance with no cost or debts involved but to ride
this train a person must first work to earn this ninety cents and then take the train,
which then in turn, will sum to be more time consuming than simply walking this
distance. This example is one of many that further reinforce this idea of self reliance
and simplicity.
The chapter titled Where I lived, and What I lived for talks about his search for a
plot of land suitable for his intended purpose, among other things. In my opinion,
his ideas wander through metaphors and references that may have been suited for
different readers with a different knowledge base. In the second page of this
chapter, his whole idea of simplicity is brought up again. He says that, a man is rich
in proportion to the number of things which he can afford to let alone (126). In my
estimation, he simply means that a man is rich, not in terms of tangible wealth, but
in knowledge and self control by what he stand to live without. Thoreau tells us that
his home was located by the shore of a small pond, about a mile and a half south of
the village of Concord
Sherlock Holmes And The Red-Headed League And A
Scandal In...
In the Sherlock Holmes stories The Red Headed League and A Scandal in
Bohemia Sir Arthur Conan Doyle explores mysteries through the eyes of Dr.
Watson, Sherlock Holmes s assistant. Holmes is able to amaze the people around
him with his deductive abilities and can quickly determine aspects of a person s life
by just looking at them. This allows him to solve mysteries that others cannot wrap
their heads around. He uses his skill to first help the King of Bohemia recover a
picture of him with a former lover. Next, he investigates the disappearance of the Red
Headed League. In both of these mysteries he experiences a unique challenge due to
the intelligence of his opponents and the unusual situation surrounding the case. The
cunning and cleverness of Holmes, Irene Adlerand the conspirators of the Red
Headed League are shown in the stories The Red Headed League and A Scandal in
Bohemia. Sherlock Holmess intelligence is demonstrated in both The Red Headed
League and A Scandal in Bohemia . During A Scandal in Bohemia he first
demonstrates his intuitive thinking by figuring out that Count Kramm, the man
introducing him on the case, is actually the King of Bohemia himself. This shows
that he is able to make a quick determination about people s lives just by having a
brief conversation with them. This allows Holmes to solve mysteries that others
cannot by simply looking at a suspect or location associated with the scenario. He
uses this ability later in the story to find where the incriminating photo of the king
with Adler is. He does this by creating a situation for himself where he will be able
to get into Adler s home. He then fakes a fire to see where Adler goes first so he
can see where she keeps her most valuable possession, the photo. Holmes states
When a woman thinks that her house is on fire, her instinct is at once to rush to the
thing which she values the most... Now it was clear to me that our lady of to day had
nothing in the house more precious to her then what we are questing for (Doyle 19).
This line of thinking shows that Holmes knows how to get people to inadvertently
give him the information that he needs by putting them in the right situation and
observing what they do. This skill
Similarities Between Calgary And Makkah
Recently, I have observed that people all over the world act differently. For
example, someone from The Calgary, Canada would behave differently then
someone from Makkah, Saudi Arabia because of several reasons. Personally, I
believe that culture, geography, and climate play a major role in determining how
people act. The similarities and differences between Calgary and Makkah are very
obvious.
An essential point that affects the way people behave is, culture. Calgary is very
multicultural city, there are people from all over the world who have different
cultures and religions. On the other hand, everyone in Makkah is Muslim so
everyone there essentially has the same culture. Culture affects how people act
because of religion and clothing. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Calgary, the climate is very humid and it averages daily temperatures of 16.5 В°C
in July to в€’6.8 В°C in December. In contrast, Makkah has a hot desert climate and it
maintains its warm temperature in winter, which can range from 18 В°C at night to
30 В°C in the day. Summer temperatures are extremely fiery, often being over 40
В°C during the day and 30 В°C at night. Climate, affects things such as clothing,
sports, cars, and houses. In Calgary, the climate fluctuates quite a lot, but around
summer time most people will be wearing t shirts and shorts whereas in winter they
would be covered up with a warm jacket, mittens, toque, a scarf. Furthermore, in
summer the soccer season would be played outdoors but because of the climate in
winter we have indoor soccer season. In addition to that, the cars that are on the
streets during the summer are usually sedans, but in winter people are driving huge
trucks. Also, in Calgary the houses are very insulated because it can get very cold
outside in winter, since the houses are insulated the people don t feel how cold it is
outside at all. In addition to that, the houses have double garage doors showing the
significance of a car. On the other hand, in Makkah, the temperatures remain warm
so people usually wear quite thin clothing. Sports in Makkah would be played
outside because there is no need to go inside. The cars that are on the roads in
Makkah stay the same because there is no change in the seasons besides the
temperature. The houses in Makkah are concrete and not insulated because it is
already warm. In summary, we can agree that climate affects how people
African Art s Influence On The Culture Of The World
Introduction African art has played an important role in the culture of the world.
The sculpture is the most common traditional culture expression for the African
art. The different sculptures are shown by their local styles and they serve for the
specific functions, such as religion. From some of these old art pieces, we figure
out this kind of traditional culture expression already existed in the African for
such a long time. In this paper, the art piece I am going to analyze is the Female
Figure with Child and it made by Akan Asante people. The Akan people of Ghana
have been recognized for their various and attractive culture and it located in what
are today Ivory Coast and the republic of Ghana in Western African. The Akan
people are combined by different groups, such as the Anyi, Akawpim, Akyem,
Aowin and Asante, and these people have their own dialect, but they share a
lingua franca, which called Twi. The sculpture I choose could effectively reflect its
own distinctive culture, because of the social connection reflect on the royalty, the

art form. Formal analysis Female Figure with Child was made by Akan Asante
people from Ghana and it is 45.1cm high. It combined wood, beads and pigments
together. It is stored in the University of Iowa Museum of Art right now and it
belongs to the Stanley Collection. It only has a little damage on baby figure s leg but

Lincoln as the best president our country has ever had and I for one, agree. Lincoln
dedicated his life to this country, spending most of his political life campaigning
against slavery, letting the country know that he was against everything it stood for.
However, upon Abraham Lincolns inauguration, our nation divided itself. The

Abraham Lincolns election was such a heavily debated topic through the nation that
Lincoln became an obvious political target for Southern sympathizers. Lincoln even
reportedly had a spot on his desk labeled assassination that was designated for death
threats that came in through the mail. Therefore, Abraham Lincoln was assigned a
body guard, however this was nowhere near the kind of security our presidents have
in today s society.
During Abraham Lincolns pre inaugural tour from Springfield to Washington, there
was an incident which took place towards the end of the tour. Lincoln was informed
by several different people that there was a plan in place to ambush and assassinate
him in Baltimore, Maryland (John Wilkes Booths hometown). This plan was
supposed to take place before he had the chance to make it to Washington to be
elected. Lincoln decided to take the advice of his friends, even though he wasn t
completely sure that there really was a plan to murder him, and chose not to take the
planned route. Instead, he decided to take an alternate route that went around
Baltimore rather than through it, at night, while wearing a disguise. Alternating his
course, put him in Washington early the following morning. However, after doing
this, Lincoln felt rather embarrassed that he had to hide in the shadows and dodge
people in order to stay safe. He pondered these events for quite some time and
eventually vowed to himself that he wouldn t hide from his enemies again.

Satire In Jonathan Swift
Satire is a literary way to express the imperfections of the society. It is a technique
used by writers who tries to highlight the thought of an individual or a society about
corruption, foolishness which is usually attacked through irony, derision, or wit.
Satire and irony are in close connection with each other. The irony is a form of
communication which is usually replacing the meaning spoken by other. Therefore,
the irony makes the difference between what is said and what is meant. Irony is a
literary technique synonymous with satire, in which there is an inconsistency between
the literal and implied meaning of either a situation or a statement. (Breanna
Derlagen). The characteristic of the satire is to depict the reality in a comic ironic...

Identity Is Something We Search Essay
Identity
Identity is something we search for, something we want to find out about
ourselves. We want to know what we are here for and what s our purpose. Identity
is the way one sees themselves and our identity is all we have that s why we protect
it and always are trying to make ours better than the others. I believe college is a time
where we find our identity, maybe we have an idea on what it is going to be and
sometimes it takes us many years to figure it out. In Daniel Marks experience his
identity is going to take awhile for him to find if he doesn t change his ways.
Daniels before was very rough, he was in trouble a lot. He said he felt like a failure

poor student with a GPA below a 2.0. His study habits are very poor but he is

motivation and is only doing enough to barely get by. I can avoid all of these
things by sticking to the things I ve been doing and to adjust and use the strategies
we have learned in U100. In Monica s story you hear about a lot of the things she

What To Expect When You Recover From A Facelift
If you re bothered by wrinkles and sagging skin on your face, then having a facelift
will not only make you look better, it will help you feel better about your appearance
too. If you re considering a facelift, you probably wonder about the recovery process,
and how long it will be before you can go back out in public. Here is what you can
expect.
Immediately After Surgery
Your doctor will place an elastic bandage over your face after the surgery. You may
also need to wear a foam collar to keep you from turning your head and neck for a
couple of days. While the pain shouldn t be too bad, you may be on painkillers for
a while. For that reason, you ll need another adult to supervise you for a day or
two. You may be wobbly or weak when you walk. If you take pain medication, you
might have fuzzy thinking and lack physical coordination. However, you don t want
to stay in bed. It s important to get up and move around normally to keep blood
flowing to your skin.

will let you know how soon you can go back to working out and lifting heavy
objects. It may be a few weeks depending on the type of facelift you have done.
This might limit your traveling alone, since you won t be able to lift luggage. It
could also affect how soon you can return to work if you have to lift heavy things
as part of your job. If you have a desk job, your doctor will allow you to return to
work much sooner. In general, you can expect to resume most of your usual activities

apparent that Wilde s opinion is that true honesty is expressed through being
genuine to one s self as opposed to putting on a front as is important in victorian
ideals. In this work, Wilde uses humor to off set the seriousness of the theme of the
story. One who has studied this work can also clearly see that Wilde is using
sarcasm to say things that would not have been accepted by society if they were said
bluntly. For example he exemplifies in a very sarcastic manner the hypocracy that
victorian society represents by the very fact that they pretend to uphold honesty

The main character of Wilde s story, Jack Worthingcreates an elaborate deceit in
which he invents a brother in the city but also reinvents his entire self. He created
his fake brother to get away from the country and go live a more exciting life in the
city. However, his deceitfulness leads to him being completly honest with himself,
and finding a true love. Something genuine. There one would see the dichotomy in
Jack, or as he s known in the city, Ernest.
Algernon Moncreiff on the other hand, lied to get to the coutnry so he could find
something more genuine as opposed to the false honesty of the city. Again, one
sees the same dichotomy as one would see in Jack. Alge lied to get to Cecily, his
true love, which again is genuine. Cecily Cardew has a dichotomous personality as
well. On the outside, Cecily appears to be innotcent and very victorian like, which
represents the victorian dewfinitionof honesty. However, if one dug a little deeper,
they would see that Cecily is much like a female version of a dandy. She has wicked
thoughts, which represent her genuine, truly honest self.
Miss Prism also represents the dichotomy and somewhat relates to Cecily. In the fact
that she acts in the manner a respectable victorian woman should, she is secretly (or
so she thinks, though it is apparent to others) buring with passion for Rev. Chasuble.
While around him she acts mannerly and as if she has no intrest in
Key Elements In Abstract Expressionism
This research article reflects the idea of art being a form of expression in the midst
of our human frailty. The emphasis of the article will explore the idea of spirituality
being key element in abstract expressionism. This article includes the work, Critical
but Stable, by Esethu Khambule, which is inspired by Wassily Kandinsky s Yellow,
Red, Blue as well as Frantisek Kupka, Mme Kupka Among Verticals.
Abstract Expressionistic movement followed one of the gruesome moments in
modern history. The aftermath of World War II created a traumatised society that
was in need of sense of purpose and morality being restored into their lives. This
created an art movement that became a means of finding a sense of salvation
(Sobel,2014) in a catastrophic landscape (Sobel, 2014). Many artists emerging from
this era were fearfully aware of the irrationality and vulnerability of humans and, as a
result, wanted to express their concerns in an untapped art market. Interestingly
enough, elements of surrealism leaked into abstract expressionism. Surrealists opened
up a new way of creating art by emphasising on working with the subconscious rather
than the conscience mind. More specifically psychic automatism is evidence of the
influence surrealism had on abstract expressionism. This allowed for abstract
expressionist to value spontaneity and improvisation (Paul, 2014) and the process of
the work became more important than the work itself. ... Show more content on

That shared factor being the spiritual element in their work. For these artists, art was
merely a vehicle for expressing and developing their spirituality (Rowan,
Choices And Consequences In The Holocaust
The Choices and Consequences of the People in the Holocaust. The Holocaust was
a devastating time for Jews, gypsies, homosexuals, and everybody else under the
wrath of Adolf Hitler; nearly twelve million innocent people were killed in this
catastrophe. The Holocaust played an important role in WW2 which allows the
present to look back into our history. It focuses on discrimination and gives modern
lives the chance to make sure it never happens again in our future. Every choice these
people made in the various pieces of literature would result in a consequence that
could change the path of their lives.
Many Jews struggled through the Holocaust before they were sent to concentration
camps. In Hidden, the children s book, Dounia was forced to ... Show more content on

In concentration camps, Jews were given their own portion of food which
contained bread, and some kind of liquid substance. This was hardly enough to
maintain a life so many prisoners made deals throughout the camps to trade
souvenirs for food. If they were caught in action, they would be beaten or killed.
With SS men controlling the fate of your life day and night, they can do anything
to you. In Eva s Story, Eva notices an officer following her around the camp and
then hides under a heap of clothes to protect herself knowing what would happen
if she was caught in this passage: I [Eva] quickly scurried behind them and buried
myself deep inside the mountain of clothes (Schloss 86). Many of the SS men also
would walk around during showers when the women prisoners were helpless and
vulnerable . They would go into the shower with them, splash them with water and
play with them like they were dolls. Eva was warned of this and when it came to
the showers, she hid behind the taller women to prevent being raped. Prisoners
would even create relationships with officers just for a proper share of food . Life
in the camps were harsh and dreadful enough for prisoners to give up or choose to
fight the conditions with no exact
Consumer s Decision Dilemma And Brand Loyalty
ABSTRACT
Consumer s decision dilemma and brand loyalty in a low involvement product
category by
Abhishek Rahul
Consumer s dilemma, caused by product similarity, choice and/or information
overload, and the presence of ambiguous information, can negatively affect
consumers decision making and thereby also companies profitability. The purpose of
this quantitative study was to
Investigate how the three variables (i.e. similarity, overload, Uncertainty) affect
consumer s decision postponement and brand loyalty, concerning low involvement
products. A conceptual framework based on consumer behavior and consumer
confusion literature, was utilized to form six hypotheses predicting the causality
between the different variables. After validating and adapting the space to data
gathered through a survey, regarding Indian Population purchasing habits of Biscuits,
2 standard multiple regressions revealed that one hypothesis was supported; overload
confusion proneness decreases brand loyalty in a low involvement product category.
All implications were then discussed from Practitioners and researchers points of
view, concluding with possible limitations and further research.

  • 2. Don Marquis V.S. Judith Jarvis Thomson. Two Abortion... Don Marquis v.s. Judith Jarvis Thomson Two abortion arguments Judith Jarvis Thomson and Don Marquis both have different views on abortion. Thomson believes that in some cases, abortion is morally permissible, due to the life of the mother. Marquis believes that abortion is almost always morally impermissible, except in extreme circumstances, because the fetus has a future life. I will simply evaluate each of the authors reasoning s that defend their belief, and give my argument for why I believe Judith Thomson s essay is more convincing. Thompson starts by expressing a baby is a man and that executing a man is, basically, murder, and along these lines ethically off base. Thompson utilizes numerous analogies that can be contrasted with... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A woman never agrees to being raped, thus she has no obligation to sustain the fetus life. Second, the author uses her expanding child example. Trapped in a tiny house with a growing child and you are up against a wall, and in a few minutes, you will be crushed, on the other hand the child won t be crushed. The only thing that will save her life is to kill the child. Is abortion permissible to save the pregnant woman s life? Because the mother being compared to that of the house, this brings up the idea that the mother should be able to do as she pleases with her body, and that her body carries more significance than the fetus right to life. This brings in the argument of a third party intervention, such as a doctor. If a doctor did not agree to perform an abortion, to save this mother, then the mother would be denied her rights, and the right to decide what is done with her body. If a woman doesn t have a right to their body, then you should not be unplugged, thus, save the violinists life. This reasoning is concluded with two smart statements, It seems to me that to treat the matter in this very way (refuse abortion for the mother s health) is to refuse to grant the very status of person which is so firmly insisted on for the fetus by anti abortion advocates. (243) and a fetus who existence is due to rape has no right to use their mother s bodies, and aborting them is not depriving them of anything they had a

This paper serves to compare the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics Standards for Secondary Mathematics (NCTM), Common Core State Standards (CCSS), and Virginia s Standards of Learning (VSOL). The comparison will include similarities and differences among the three documents as well as discuss their strengths and weaknesses. Lastly, a combined setof standards will be developed and presented, encompassing the strengths of the various standards. The first similarity between the three documents would be the structure of the standards. Each document varies in the numberof standards, but all are separated through domains of mathematical learning. For example, out of the fourteen NCTM Curriculum Standards for Secondary Mathematics, five standards detail the process of learning mathematics. These standards include Mathematics as Problem Solving, Mathematics as Communication, Mathematics as Reasoning, Mathematical Connections, and Mathematical Structures. Similarly, Common Core State Standards provide the state of Alabama with Mathematical Practice Standards which parallel with similar methods of learning mathematics. Within the Virginia Standards of Learning are embedded similar languages describing mathematical learning. There are several parallel thoughts concerning the mathematical learning process. NCTM Standard 1: Mathematics as Problem Solving outlines the expectations for students to refine their method of problem solving by investigation and integration of

  • 5. Operant Conditioning Essay As a dog owner, I know how important it is to teach your pets how to behave. Yet, it is important to understand how learning works so that you can develop a strategy to properly and quickly teach your dog. The example of training a dog to roll over is a great model for analysing the aspects of learning involved with this process. Understanding how operant conditioning works and how to reinforce a desired response to that stimuli will help trainers effectively teach dogs. Psychologists, such as Myers (2013), define learning as the process of acquiring new knowledge and behaviors. In this case we are specifically discussing the acquisition of a certain response to a stimulus. The stimulus is the trainer s command and the desired behavior is the dog to roll over onto his back. These ideas all are based on Edward L. Thorndike s principle called the law of effect, wherein he stated that behaviors followed by a positive outcomes are more likely to increase in probability. These are all important components of the learning process, especially on the level of training a dog or instilling a simple behavior. Operant conditioning, is defined as an organism developing a link between its behaviors and consequences that follow those behaviors. The goal of operant conditioning is to develop a desired behavior in response to a given stimulus. When teaching a dog to roll over, the trainer wants the dog to rollover in response to his command. In this way the dog rolling onto its back is the

  • 11. The Future of Human Evolution The Future of Human Evolution Alexander R. Prof. Kohn Darwinism and Evolution 12 6 96 Evolution, the science of how populations of living organisms change over time in response to their environment, is the central unifying theme in biology today. Evolution was first explored in its semi modern form in Charles Darwin s 1859 book, Origin of Species by means of Natural Selection. In this book, Darwin laid out a strong argument for evolution. He postulated that all species have a common ancestor from which they are descended. As populations of species moved into new habitats and new parts of the world, they faced different environmental conditions. Over time, these populations accumulated modifications, or adaptations, that allowed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first step in understand evolution in present terms is to mention genetic engineering (including genetic drift). The first step to understanding genetic engineering, and embracing its possibilities for society, is to obtain a rough knowledge base of its history and method. The basis for altering the evolutionary process is dependent on the understanding of how individuals pass on characteristics to their offspring. Genetics achieved its first foothold on the secrets of nature s evolutionary process when an Austrian monk named Gregor Mendel developed the first laws of heredity. Using these laws, scientists studied the characteristics of organisms for most of the next one hundred years following Mendel s discovery. These early studies concluded that each organism has two sets of character determinants, or genes (Stableford 16). For instance, in regards to eye color, a child could receive one set of genes from his father that were encoded one blue, and the other brown. The same child could al so receive two brown genes from his mother. The conclusion for this inheritance would be the child has a three in four chance of having brown eyes, and a one in three chance of having blue eyes (Stableford 16). Genes are transmitted through chromosomes which reside in the nucleus of every living organism s cells. Each chromosome is made up of fine strands of deoxyribonucleic acids, or DNA. The information carried

In this paper I aim to address the reason why communism and Marxist ideologies were unsuccessfully received in post war Poland. I will be arguing *that Marxismwas made into a tool of oppression by the Soviet Union, and therefore became illegitimate in itself. I intend on arguing this theory by investigating the goal of the Soviet Union. In addition to this I will identifying instances where the Soviets and communist puppet parties in Poland had strayed from traditional Marxist ideologies. Finally I will recognize the opposition groups and parties that had formed against the Soviet oppression and instillment of inequality. I will be focusing my paper around analysis of traditional Marxist ideologies in comparison with post war Stalinist ideologies which claimed to embody Marxist ideals through their implication within the Soviet Union. By doing this I intend on proving to the reader that Soviet Marxism was a tool of oppression and inequality in eastern and central Europe. The Soviet Union post World War II intended on expanding their political power via communismunder a guise of spreading Marxist thought; thus transforming Marxist ideology into a tool of Soviet domination in Poland (Aleksandrowicz, 101). • 17. S. N. 1 Lab Report As discussed in lecture, the determining factors of a substitution reaction is likely to occur in either S_N 1 or S_N 2 by: substrates, leaving group, strength of the nucleophile, and the type of solvent. When conducting the S_N 1 portion of the experiment, the solvent used was 1% silver nitrate in ethanol solution (гЂ–AgNOгЂ—_3). This solvent is polar protic. This is the best type of solvent needed for an S_N 1 reaction because the hydrogen atom is positively charged while the nucleophile is negatively charged achieving a hydrogen bond. Two factors that contributed to the rate of reaction for S_N 1 are stability of the carbocation and the leaving group departure. They can prevent vegetation from encroaching upon the pavement, discourage parking or driving on lawns and sidewalks, channel runoff efficiently to storm drains and delineate property boundaries. All About Concrete Curbs Concrete curbs can be constructed in various shapes and sizes to help achieve specific goals. For example, pedestrians are less likely to trip over a curb with square edges, while a high, vertical faced curb is a strong deterrent to vehicles. Curb heights are normally determined by the functionality desired, but appearance can also be an important factor. The same is true for the width of the curb. In most parts of the United States, curb heights typically range from 4 inches to 8 inches; curb widths usually range from 6 inches to 8 inches. Curbs designed to channel runoff typically border a gutter. Gutters can be built at the intersection between the curb and the roadway, cast at the same time as the curb or constructed as a pavement component. MapReduce, the core programming language of the Hadoop Ecosystem processes the data stored in Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS). It is difficult for non programmers to work with MapReduce. Hadoop supports HiveQL (SQLlike statements) which implicitly and immediately translates the queries into one or more MapReduce jobs. To help procedural language developers, Hadoop supports Pig Latin language. This paper runs a text data processing application with MapReduce, Hive and Pig on single node windows platform and compares performance in graphical form. It processes Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS) on large clusters which are made of thousands of commodity hardware in a reliable and fault tolerant manner. The operations of MapReduce are performed in Map and Reduce functions. The Map function works on a set of input values and transforms them into a set of key/value pairs. The reducer receives all the data for an individual key from all the mappers and applies Reduce function to achieve the final result. Pig: The Pig toolkit consists of a compiler that generates MapReduce programs, bundles their dependencies, and executes them on Hadoop. Pig jobs are written in a data flow language called Pig Latin and can be executed in both interactive and batch fashions.[2] Pig does not require the schema for data like SQL, so it is well suited to process unstructured data. Hive: Hive is a data warehousing package built on top of Hadoop. Hive s SQL inspired language, better known as HiveQL or HQL separates the user from the complexity of MapReduce programming.[3] This approach makes it very fast and adoptable for people that are already familiar with the syntax of SQL. The HQL queries are implicitly translated into one or more MapReduce jobs to process the HDFS. • 30. Property In John Locke s State Of Property To Locke the state of nature is the state of freedom where one should have unrestricted liberty. Because the state of nature, one has the ablilty to control their own body and to control their own possessions. Everyone has this right, but they cannot control other people s behavior (pg 284). Since we are all equal in Locke s eyes this means the only freedom we cannot have is the right to infring aginst anothers liberty. To Locke just like life and liberty propertyis a natural right. To obtain property in Locke s state of nature is simple all you have to do is put your labour into it. Locke argues that while we do have a right in common with all other person to enjoy nature s abundance, each person has an exclusive right to the fruits of their own earning i.e. apple example. Because labour is punishment because of god i.e adam and eve. Right to private property created by labour cannot be right to infignge on others bounty. If we use Locke s apple tree example according to Locke one take as many apples as he needs but he or she cannot take more than that. This is because, there is a natural law of restriction of how much one can appropriate from the commons no one can pick all the apples from the tree it would contrary to God s law to take more apples then they need. First of all taking more than you need would be pointless because the apple will rot. Having the apple rot would be a waste of food, food someone else could have eaten. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Children as well as adults can get benefits because of blindness and disability. Blind means you are either blind or have very poor eyesight. Disabled means you have a physical or mental problem that keeps you from working and is expected to last a year or to result in death. For a child, Social Security looks at how his or her disability affects everyday life. Individuals monthly SSI benefit amounts are also affected by their income, resources, and living arrangements. The more income you have, the less your SSI payment will be. If your income is over the allowable limit, you cannot receive SSI. The value of a persons resources (the things they own) determines whether they are eligible for SSI payments. The limit for countable resources is $2000 for an individual, and $3000 for a couple. The living arrangements are important because payments vary depending if you live in your own place such as a house, apartment, or trailer; or in someone else s household; or in an institution. The benefits are financed from general revenues, and some states supplement the Federal benefit. When states add to the federal SSI payment, then the SSI payment levels are higher in those states. The maximum federal payment changes yearly. As of January 1, 2000, the federal benefit rate was $512 for an individual and $769 for a couple. Factors such as race, gender and education all play a part in who participates in the SSI program. African Americans, other nonwhites,

It is my opinion that Thoreau thought of himself as better than the average person and to an extent better than the person reading his very work. The allusions and ideals expressed in this work wreak of a smug and better than though context. The purpose of this experiment was to enact the philosophies and ideals of self reliance and simplicity. His ideaof simplicity is strewn throughout this work, ranting through a seemingly indecipherable mixture of allusions, metaphors, and actual ideas. Although I do not agree, his reasoning behind it is quite simple. The distance that a train travels is thirty miles and its fare for this distance is ninety cents, almost a days wage (96). He says that he can ultimately arrive quicker on foot, than a person riding this train. He can walk this distance with no cost or debts involved but to ride this train a person must first work to earn this ninety cents and then take the train, which then in turn, will sum to be more time consuming than simply walking this distance. This example is one of many that further reinforce this idea of self reliance and simplicity. The chapter titled Where I lived, and What I lived for talks about his search for a plot of land suitable for his intended purpose, among other things. In my opinion, his ideas wander through metaphors and references that may have been suited for different readers with a different knowledge base. In the second page of this chapter, his whole idea of simplicity is brought up again. He says that, a man is rich in proportion to the number of things which he can afford to let alone (126). In my estimation, he simply means that a man is rich, not in terms of tangible wealth, but in knowledge and self control by what he stand to live without. Thoreau tells us that his home was located by the shore of a small pond, about a mile and a half south of the village of Concord

In the Sherlock Holmes stories The Red Headed League and A Scandal in Bohemia Sir Arthur Conan Doyle explores mysteries through the eyes of Dr. Watson, Sherlock Holmes s assistant. Holmes is able to amaze the people around him with his deductive abilities and can quickly determine aspects of a person s life by just looking at them. This allows him to solve mysteries that others cannot wrap their heads around. He uses his skill to first help the King of Bohemia recover a picture of him with a former lover. Next, he investigates the disappearance of the Red Headed League. In both of these mysteries he experiences a unique challenge due to the intelligence of his opponents and the unusual situation surrounding the case. The cunning and cleverness of Holmes, Irene Adlerand the conspirators of the Red Headed League are shown in the stories The Red Headed League and A Scandal in Bohemia. Sherlock Holmess intelligence is demonstrated in both The Red Headed League and A Scandal in Bohemia . During A Scandal in Bohemia he first demonstrates his intuitive thinking by figuring out that Count Kramm, the man introducing him on the case, is actually the King of Bohemia himself. This shows that he is able to make a quick determination about people s lives just by having a brief conversation with them. This allows Holmes to solve mysteries that others cannot by simply looking at a suspect or location associated with the scenario. He uses this ability later in the story to find where the incriminating photo of the king with Adler is. He does this by creating a situation for himself where he will be able to get into Adler s home. He then fakes a fire to see where Adler goes first so he can see where she keeps her most valuable possession, the photo. Holmes states When a woman thinks that her house is on fire, her instinct is at once to rush to the thing which she values the most... Now it was clear to me that our lady of to day had nothing in the house more precious to her then what we are questing for (Doyle 19). This line of thinking shows that Holmes knows how to get people to inadvertently give him the information that he needs by putting them in the right situation and observing what they do. This skill

Personally, I believe that culture, geography, and climate play a major role in determining how people act. The similarities and differences between Calgary and Makkah are very obvious. An essential point that affects the way people behave is, culture. Calgary is very multicultural city, there are people from all over the world who have different cultures and religions. Summer temperatures are extremely fiery, often being over 40 В°C during the day and 30 В°C at night. Climate, affects things such as clothing, sports, cars, and houses. In Calgary, the climate fluctuates quite a lot, but around summer time most people will be wearing t shirts and shorts whereas in winter they would be covered up with a warm jacket, mittens, toque, a scarf. Furthermore, in summer the soccer season would be played outdoors but because of the climate in winter we have indoor soccer season. In addition to that, the cars that are on the streets during the summer are usually sedans, but in winter people are driving huge trucks. Also, in Calgary the houses are very insulated because it can get very cold outside in winter, since the houses are insulated the people don t feel how cold it is outside at all. In addition to that, the houses have double garage doors showing the significance of a car. On the other hand, in Makkah, the temperatures remain warm so people usually wear quite thin clothing. Sports in Makkah would be played outside because there is no need to go inside. The cars that are on the roads in Makkah stay the same because there is no change in the seasons besides the temperature. The houses in Makkah are concrete and not insulated because it is already warm. In summary, we can agree that climate affects how people

This article includes the work, Critical but Stable, by Esethu Khambule, which is inspired by Wassily Kandinsky s Yellow, Red, Blue as well as Frantisek Kupka, Mme Kupka Among Verticals. Abstract Expressionistic movement followed one of the gruesome moments in modern history. The aftermath of World War II created a traumatised society that was in need of sense of purpose and morality being restored into their lives. This created an art movement that became a means of finding a sense of salvation (Sobel,2014) in a catastrophic landscape (Sobel, 2014). Many artists emerging from this era were fearfully aware of the irrationality and vulnerability of humans and, as a result, wanted to express their concerns in an untapped art market. Interestingly enough, elements of surrealism leaked into abstract expressionism. Surrealists opened up a new way of creating art by emphasising on working with the subconscious rather than the conscience mind. More specifically psychic automatism is evidence of the influence surrealism had on abstract expressionism. This allowed for abstract expressionist to value spontaneity and improvisation (Paul, 2014) and the process of the work became more important than the work itself. ... With SS men controlling the fate of your life day and night, they can do anything to you. In Eva s Story, Eva notices an officer following her around the camp and then hides under a heap of clothes to protect herself knowing what would happen if she was caught in this passage: I [Eva] quickly scurried behind them and buried myself deep inside the mountain of clothes (Schloss 86). Many of the SS men also would walk around during showers when the women prisoners were helpless and vulnerable . • 43. Consumer s Decision Dilemma And Brand Loyalty ABSTRACT Consumer s decision dilemma and brand loyalty in a low involvement product category by Abhishek Rahul Consumer s dilemma, caused by product similarity, choice and/or information overload, and the presence of ambiguous information, can negatively affect consumers decision making and thereby also companies profitability. The purpose of this quantitative study was to Investigate how the three variables (i.e. similarity, overload, Uncertainty) affect consumer s decision postponement and brand loyalty, concerning low involvement products. A conceptual framework based on consumer behavior and consumer confusion literature, was utilized to form six hypotheses predicting the causality between the different variables. After validating and adapting the space to data gathered through a survey, regarding Indian Population purchasing habits of Biscuits, 2 standard multiple regressions revealed that one hypothesis was supported; overload confusion proneness decreases brand loyalty in a low involvement product category. All implications were then discussed from Practitioners and researchers points of view, concluding with possible limitations and further research.
