Nightmare is half demon, the soul
of man living or dead, who tired of
sleeping at night, sucking their
blood.
A man tormented by a
nightmare groans, sweats and
throws herself on the bed. If,

morning with the feeling that
something was up all night

myth probably has its origin in
the phenomenon of sleep
paralysis.
Ghosts in Poland

 Quite near Żarki is the place there was a
  mysterious incident. Its witness was
headmaster one of the rural schools, who
returned home after hours. Going down the
stairs and headed toward the exit he had to
pass in the hallway with the spirit of the monk,
who looked very real. This scared man just ran.
Interestingly, near the place where the school is
now in the past there was a monastery, after
which there is no trace today.
 Old people say that at night the Ogrodzieniec Castle in
Podzamcze is haunted by a large black dog, which drags a 3-
meter-long clanging chain. This mysterious animal was seen
by fathers and grandfathers even before the World War I.
They kept saying that at night there was no horse, which
would cross the castle gate, although the outside yard smelt
of juicy, fresh grass. The black dog has been seen by too
many people, so it cannot be considered to be just a fantasy.
This strange creature has been appearing in the unchanged
form since at least several dozens of years. The explanation of
this mysterious phenomenon, which has been witnessed by
many inhabitants of Podzamcze, could be found in the
  history of the Ogrodzieniec Castle.
