Telangana Assembly Elections 2018:
Reasons Why It Won’t Be a Cakewalk Win for TRS
India’s youngest state Telangana is going to polls
on December 7 and the approaching assembly
elections will be the first ever, after the state was
separated of Andhra Pradesh on June 2, 2014.
The results would be announced on November 11.
Triumphant in Previous Elections
In previous elections, Telangana Rashtra Samithi
(TRS) emerged as the largest party by winning 63
out of 119 seats, which were held in then undivided
Andhra Pradesh in April-May 2014.
The Indian National Congress (INC) was limited to
21 seats and the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) with
its then alliance partner, the Bharatiya Janata Party
(BJP), secured 20 seats (five BJP and 15 TDP),
while the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen
(AIMIM) secured seven and others eight.
Currently, TRS is making an effort to keep hold of
its power in the state while the Congress is trying
to get back its lost bastion. The BJP is also in the
ballot battle to make its presence felt.
But the question is who will
win the polls?
According to political experts, TRS commands a
lead, but the opposition alliance under Prajakutami
banner is fast closing that gap.
“TRS still have an edge, but the main Opposition
- the Congress-led alliance - is catching up fast,”
political analyst K Nageshwar said in talks with
Moneycontrol.
He shared several conditions that might go against
the ‘pink’ party in this battle of the ballot:
Prajakutami
KCR and his party, TRS, were confident
of the ‘there is no alternative’ or the TINA
factor and were widely believed to be able
to retain Telangana when they dissolved
the assembly in September. However, a
lot has changed on the ground in the past
three months. The surprise emergence
of an alliance between Congress, TDP,
TJS (Telangana Jana Samithi) and
CPI (Communist Party of India) under
‘Prajakutami’ banner was able to tap the
simmering discontent against the TRS
government, among youth and tenant
farmers.
If it makes an impact on the voting conduct
11. of the Telangana people, winning the election
would not be hands-down for the TRS.
Welfare Schemes
TRS leaders and candidates, along with
conducting massive poll campaign across
the state, are promoting welfare schemes
introduced by the state government, but then,
these schemes might as well be a drawback
for the party.
According to Nageshwar, beneficiaries of the
schemes may perhaps be inclined towards
TRS but non-beneficiaries are very critical of
the government.
Even the beneficiaries can turn up against
the government given the fact that these
schemes increase expectations, which beats
the satisfaction level of beneficiaries. In
such cases, if other parties announce better
schemes, even the existing beneficiaries can
be wooed and may vote in favor of any party
other than the TRS, he said.
Anti-Incumbency
Many TRS Members of Legislative Assembly
(MLAs) are drawing flak in their respective
constituencies for not being within reach and
performing below expectation. Asked the
ground behind it, Nageshwar said the MLAs
are weak as power has been concentrated in
the hands of KCR and his family members.
According to him, KCR could not build a
robust organization in the state.
“He (KCR) believed that the sentiments
made him win in 2014 and he thinks that his
own popularity will make him win this time.
So, the candidates are weak. If the party
wins the polls, it will be KCR’s personal
charisma, but how long will it remain?” he
quips.
Even KCR’s son and state minister KT Rama
Rao agreed that there was anti-incumbency
feeling against some leaders of the party.
He, however, believed that it will not impact
the party’s chances in assembly polls as it
will be “eclipsed” by the image of his father.
“People realize that this is the election where
KCR (as the chief minister is popularly
known as) gets elected as chief minister. For
that to happen, they have to vote for MLAs.
Whatever anti-incumbency or dissatisfaction
that could be against incumbent MLAs, that
will be eclipsed by KCR,” Rao told PTI.
12. Men’s Hockey World Cup: Indian Hockey Team
Capable of Creating History, Says Coach
The 2018 Men’s Hockey World Cup kicked
off on November 27, which is being held from
28 November to 16 December at the Kalinga
Stadium Bhubaneshwar, India.
The coach, during the inauguration, has
not squandered the chance to manifest his
confidence on the Indian team.
Hockey coach Harendra Singh said: “It’s a team
that can create history”.
He did not agree with a question that team is
inexperienced saying “It’s a team that can create
history. You have to have patience. Selectors
have considered these players good enough to
wear India colors, be proud of it. Every player in
the team understands it.”
Asked how he fancied his team’s chances,
he said “Did anyone think Ireland will reach
women’s WC final and Croatia make it to FIFA
WC final. Every team works on their strategy. It’s
about that particular day.”
He evidently did not like a question on defeat in
the Asian Games saying, “The hard fact is all of
us have forgotten Asian Games defeat and you
should also forget. We learn from history, gain
experience but there is no point recalling
it. We don’t even talk about it now in our
meetings.”
Asked about the format of this world cup,
where there is a long gap between team’s
matches, he replied “to be frank as a coach
I support this format. Hockey is a fast
game, result oriented, highly demanding.
Unfortunately, earlier we used to play the
next match in 24 hours. Whenever it used
to happen, we never got the desired result.
It helps to bring the team into the renewed
mood. You come back with a fresh mind and
legs. You can play at the same intensity, the
margin of error reduces.”
The inauguration ceremony witnessed the
biggest ever drone flying show in India.
The 16 teams were drawn into four groups,
each containing four teams. Each team
plays each other team in its group once. The
first-place team in each group advances to
the quarter-finals, while the second- and
third-placed teams in each group go into the
crossover matches. From there on a single-
elimination tournament will be played.

The Tamangs retain jhankris

there exists the honorific term
Lama, assigned to all Tamang

certain rites such as trances and

Tamangs have a system of six

NaturalWays to
Suppress Appetite
How many times has it happened to you that you ended up
eating more than you should have? Quiet frequently, isn’t
it? Well, there’s no need to feel heartbroken over the fact
because you are not alone in this reign. While uncontrollable
eating sure does affect your health, there are ways in which
you can suppress appetite in a healthy way without negatively
affecting your well being.

Drink More Water
Water is considered as an amazing
appetite suppressant because of its
tendency to make you feel full even
before you are done with your food. If
you feel like you are overeating than
what you should actually be eating,
try and switch it up with drinking
more water.
Get Proper Sleep
Studies claim that the lack of sleep tends
to increase one’s hunger by a whopping
24%. Not just that, it also adversely
affects the secretion of several of the
satiety related hormones which is why you
end up feeling hungrier. Bring your sleep
into a routine and ensure that you get a
quality sleep to help suppress appetite
effectively.
Avoid Sugar
Sugars and any form of sweetener
tend to be very easily broken down
in the stomach and gets digested
and absorbed at a much faster
pace which itself is a lot speaking
because it tends to make your
frequency of being hungry more,
which is exactly what makes you
overeat.
Exercise
Exercising has positive effects
on suppressing the excessive
secretion of the hormones, Ghrelin
and Peptide YY in the body which
prevents from inducing short-term
hunger that often times end up
making you overeat.

Practice Mindful Eating
When we are not eating mindfully, it
becomes hard for the brain to decipher
how much one has consumed which
is exactly why we often end up eating
more than we intended. Focusing solely
on the food ends up helping us decrease
our hunger and promote eating just as
much as we need.
Drink Coffee
Study shows that drinking coffee
triggers the release of the hormone
Peptide YY which has beneficial
effects in suppressing and regulating
our appetite. It induces a feeling of
fullness in a person which is exactly
what contributes to stopping you
from overeating.
Snack on Almonds
It is not like that just the consumption
of just almonds is effectively going to
act as a natural appetite suppressant
but snacking on this instead of
something unhealthy is definitely
one of the best ways to keep your
hunger, appetite, and weight in
check. Snack on almonds whenever
you feel hungry.
Consume Chia Seeds
It is believed that it is the rich fiber
content in the Chia seeds that
make people feel full for a longer
stretch of time. Chia seeds also
increase one’s satiety and helps
curb the short-term hunger pangs
that often end up contributing to
overeating.

Mix all together and add flour little by little only as needed. Knead the mixture to
a dough without adding water. Onions release moisture and bind the mixture well.
Making Chicken Cutlet
Make 8 to 9 cutlets or patties. If you have use potato, you will get about 12. Make
a batter using flour and a very little salt or beat an egg with salt.
Dip the cutlet in batter or egg and then immediately in the breadcrumbs. Keep
this aside for 15 minutes. Pat the cutlets well to bind the crumbs well.
Heat a pan with oil. Shallow fry or deep fry or pan fry to suit your liking.
Serve hot chicken cutlets with ketchup or green chutney.

Lawmakers Introduce Bill
to Protect Work Authorization
of H-1B Spouses
The H-4 Employment Protection Act, a legislation seeking
to stop Trump administration from revoking the work
authorization of spouses of H1-B visa holders, which include
Indians, has been introduced in the United States Congress by
two lawmakers.
The lawmakers said eliminating this
benefit would force many foreign workers
to use their talent to compete against
American businesses.
H-4 visas are given to the spouses of
H-1B foreign workers. The H-1B visa
is a non-immigrant visa through which
many Indians workers are employed in
the U.S. companies. It allows the U.S.
firms to hire foreign workers in specialty
occupations that need theoretical or
technical expertise and is the most
sought-after visa among Indian tech
professionals.
H-4 visas are issued solely to very close
or immediate family members of the
H-1B visa holders.
The move by lawmakers Anna G
Eshoo and Zoe Lofgren to introduce
the legislation come amid resolution
by the Trump administration to revoke

an Obama-era rule that
lasts work authorization to
the partners of H-1B visa
holders.
Since the rule was
implemented, more than
one lakh workers, chiefly
women from India, have
received employment
authorization, improving the
American competitiveness
and lessening the economic
burden on thousands of H-1B
workers and their families,
the two lawmakers said after
presenting the bill in the
house.
The H-4 Employment
Protection Act prohibits the
Trump administration from
revoking this important
rule, which it is expected to
do by the end of the year,
they said. “Protecting work
authorization for these H-4
visa holders is a matter of
both economic fairness and
family unity,” Eshoo said.
“Eliminating this benefit
would create a painful
choice for many immigrants
to either split up their
families or return to their
home countries and use
their talents to compete
against American
businesses,” Eshoo said.
“These are American
citizens-in-waiting, stuck
in line for their number to
come up,” Congressman
Lofgren said.
“Prohibiting H-1B dependent
spouses from working
is of no benefit to our
country, and if allowed
to move forward, many
of these families that can
contribute so much to
our workforce will simply
move to countries with a
more sensible approach to
immigration. This much-
needed bill will block the
Trump administration from
needlessly harming our
economy and the lives of
skilled immigrant families,”
Lofgren said.

As India Becomes Richer
More Indians Leaving Country
India has turned to be wealthier and more of its citizens are leaving its
shores. According to an IndiaSpend analysis of data from the United Nations
Department of Economic Affair, an estimated 17 million Indians were living
abroad in 2017, making India the ample source country for international
migrants worldwide, up from seven million in 1990 and
a 143 percent increase.

should be worried about a rise in “brain
drain”.
The above figures refer to unskilled
migrants traveling on Emigration Check
Required (ECR) passports - passports
issued by the Ministry of Overseas Indian
Affairs to those leaving for employment in
certain countries in Southeast Asia and
Middle. Changes in the government criteria
used to classify workers as unskilled,
leading to more migrants traveling on
non-ECR passports, could be part of the
reason for the declining trend.
“Over the years India has made internal
adjustments to who gets an ECR
passport. A lot of people are entitled to
non-ECR passports and take that route to
migrate instead - this is data which is not
publicly available and therefore cannot
be analyzed,” Seeta Sharma, Technical
Officer (ILO) for EU-India Cooperation and
Dialogue on Migration and Mobility, told
IndiaSpend.
International emigration generally rises
with economic development as more
people acquire the financial means to
travel abroad, and only begins to reduce
when countries reach upper-middle-
income status.
Labor demand driven by constrained local
employment markets is a key motivation
for international migration, with 73 percent
of all migrants globally entering the
workforce in their host country, the ADB
report found.
India’s working age population is currently
growing by 1.3 million each month,
exacerbating a stagnant job market that is
further afflicted by a lack of employment.
Over almost three decades, between
Over the same period, India’s per capita income
increased by 522 percent (from $1,134 to $7,055),
giving more people the means to travel abroad in
hunt of employment opportunities they were not
found at home.
Simultaneously, the number of unskilled migrants
leaving the country has been decreasing: An
estimated 391,000 left India in 2017, almost half
the number in 2011 (637,000), according to a new
report by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
However, this does not necessarily mean that
an increasing proportion of India’s emigrants are
likely to be higher skilled or that policymakers

1990-2017, India witnessed
waves of skilled and unskilled
labor emigration. Indians living
in Qatar increased 82,669
percent - from 2,738 to 2.2
million - over 27 years to 2017,
more than in any other country.
In the two years between 2015-
2017, the Indian population in
Qatar more than tripled.
Oman (688 percent) and the
United Arab Emirates (622
percent) also feature in the
top 10 countries for the largest
increases in Indian residents
between 1990-2017, while
in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait,
over seven years to 2017,
Indian populations rose by
110 percent and 78 percent,
respectively.
These figures reflect the
response of Indian workers to
rapidly expanding economies
in the Gulf, buoyed by rising oil
prices. As these oil-rich nations
embarked on large-scale
development projects, workers
from India and other South
Asian countries answered the
call for the growing number of
construction jobs needing to be
filled.
However, recent global
economic lags have slowed
migrant flows from India into
the region. Declining crude
oil terms and the resulting
spending cuts on building
projects and the slowing
economies explain the falling
numbers of Indians preferring
to travel to the region, as jobs
dwindle and wages contract.
While traditional host countries
for Indian migrants, such as
the Gulf states, United States
and the United Kingdom,
remain the countries with the
highest Indian populations,
over the last decade, OECD
countries have seen a
significant increase in the
number of Indians choosing to
settle within their borders.
Netherlands, Norway, and
Sweden, for example, have
seen their Indian populations
grow by 66, 56 and 42
percent, respectively, over
seven years to 2017. They
are cheaper and have better
educational opportunities.”For
example, Germany has the
free education and there’s
the potential to land a job in
the country after university
too, so you’re seeing a shift in
migration,” Sharma said.
Quickly aging populations
across the West will further
create a demand for migrant
labor, as foreign workers fill
employment gaps left by falling
birth rates in many developed
countries. India is well placed
to benefit from this demand.
Half of all countries worldwide
now have fertility rates below
2.1, meaning too few children
are being born to hold their
population size. In the short
term, however, changing
political environments
and increasingly hostile
attitudes to foreign migration
may have an impact on
the acceptability of Indian
migrant workers taking up
these jobs.
The identity and socio-
economic background of
Indian emigrants is changing.
Southern states like Kerala
and Tamil Nadu have been
traditional sources of migrant
workers to the

Middle East and Southeast Asia,
departing on ECR passports. However,
in recent years, northern Indian and
less economically advanced states have
overtaken their southern counterparts for
the numbers of typically low-skilled male
youth leaving for overseas work.
Uttar Pradesh took the lead for the highest
number of emigrants since 2011, followed
by Bihar and Tamil Nadu, while the
number of migrants from Kerala declined
69 percent over six years, from around
80,000 in 2011 and 2013 to under 25,000 in
2017.
“Migration trends have shifted,” Sharma
said. “For example, if you’re from Kerala,
it may no longer be so lucrative to go to
the Gulf. But for someone sitting in Bihar
earning a third of what a Keralite earns, it
still makes sense.”
However, while these data show the
numbers from each state leaving on ECR
passports, they do not indicate how many
have switched to non-ECR passports.
Kerala may still be seeing sizable numbers
of its population emigrate despite a
decline in 2016 and 2017 in the ECR
category.
Indeed, Kerala received 19 percent of all
remittances (funds sent by an expatriate
to their country of origin) received in
India in 2016-17, closely followed by
Maharashtra (17 percent) and Karnataka (15
percent), according to RBI (Reserve Bank
of India) data.
India received the largest remittances
worldwide in 2017, with approximately
$70 billion landing in the country’s banks
accounts.

The North Sentinel Island,

One of the police sources
said Chau, who had made
previous visits to the islands,
had a strong desire to meet
the Sentinelese.
Chau hired a fishing dinghy
and, aided by the fishermen,
reached the vicinity of the
island on November 16,
before transferring to a

U.S. District Judge Bars
Trump Order Denying Asylum
to Illegal Border Crossers
A federal judge has put a
temporary ban to a Trump
administration order denying
the prospect of asylum to
people who enter the United
States illegally.
The United States President
Donald Trump issued the
announcement in October
as a matter of what he called
national security as a U.S.-
bound caravan of Central
American migrants made its
way through Mexico toward the
U.S. border.
The U.S. District Judge Jon
Tigar in San Francisco issued
an impermanent restraining
order against the Trump
announcement, therefore
granting a request from human
rights advocacy groups which
had sued soon after the order
was announced.
The American Civil Liberties
Union says the U.S. law
stipulates that the right to
request asylum must be
granted to anyone entering
the country, irrespective of
whether they do so at an
official port of entry or come in
illegally.
Trump’s administration
has argued that he has the
executive power to curb
immigration in the name of
national security - a power
he raised right after taking
office earlier this year with
a controversial ban on
travelers from several for the
most part Muslim countries.
The concluding version of
the order was upheld by the
U.S. Supreme Court on June
26 after a drawn-out legal
battle.

he called the “historically

Trump Visits
Wrecked California and Blames
Mismanagement for Deathly Wildfire
The United States President
Donald Trump expressed
dejection at the devastation
caused by fires in a California
town, yet persisted in his
contentious assert that
forest mismanagement was
accountable for the calamity,
which has killed about 88 and
left more than 200 listed as
missing.
“This is very sad,” Trump said
after surveying the remains
of Paradise, where virtually
the only people out on
the road were emergency
services workers, encircled
by the twisted remains of a
community burn down by the
flames.
“They’re telling me this is
not as bad as some areas;
some areas are even beyond
this, they’re just charred,” he
added after looking at a street
lined with melted cars, tree
stumps and the foundations of
destroyed houses.
The deathly and most
destructive wildfire in
California’s history, the alleged
Camp Fire, has present
claimed 88 lives.
The blaze has destroyed an
area approximately the size of
Chicago, ruining nearly 10,000
homes and more than 2,500
other buildings.
69. DECEMBER 2018 | WWW.WISHESH.COM
Senior fire officials recounted
how rapidly the blaze spread,
complicating evacuation efforts, as
Trump studied a huge map spread
across a table showing where fires
continue to burn.
Reviving an earlier controversy,
Trump repeated his claim that
California had mismanaged its
forests and was, for the most part, to
blame for the fires.
“I’m committed to making sure that
we get all of this cleaned out and
protected, (we’ve) got to take care of
the forest, it’s very important,” Trump
said in Paradise.
Brian Rice, president of California
Professional Firefighters, called
Trump’s earlier remarks “ill-
informed”, noting the federal
government had cut spending on forest management.
Asked if he believed climate change had played any
part in the fires, Trump again pointed to the forest
“management factor” and insisted that his “strong
opinion” remained unchanged.
Trump has long been disbelieving of man’s role in
global warming despite rising scientific evidence that
the burning of fossil fuels is heating the planet and
leading to more extreme weather.
The inferno erupted November 8, laying waste to
Paradise in the northern foothills of the Sierra Nevada
mountains and sending thousands fleeing.
The Camp Fire and another huge blaze have created
an earnest smoke difficulty across vast areas of the
country’s largest state.

are conducted to analyze the future leaders of the next five
years. The biggest question in every Indian’s mind is who is
going to win this time.
77. DECEMBER 2018 | WWW.WISHESH.COM
This is extremely common
to think over and over as we
are electing our leader and
our vote is going to make a
difference.
Will may get the analysis from
any survey and just estimate
to ourselves in groups. But
still, we all wait for the results
of elections. Estimations can
go wrong or become true
but they’re not going to stop
until the results of elections
are revealed out officially.
Analysis and surveys have
proved something real
sometimes. So, it is good to
go with the analysis until the
reality comes out.

with bloodshed and tears. We
will revolutionize only when we
take steps to change our thought
process
“Merciless criticism and
independent thinking are the two

thinking”

move towards revolutionary
thinking when we keep our mind
open to accept criticism and
give it a thought on how can that
challenge turn to betterment.
“If yet your blood does not rage,
then it is water that flows in your
veins. For what is the flush of
youth, if it is not of service to the
motherland”
In this quote, Bhagat Singh is

that we must take steps to do
something for our motherland
and the phase of our youth is
pointless if we do not feel the
pinch to be at the service for our
country.

and teachings is a true inspiration
to be strong and to fight for justice
until it is not attained. He is living
in our hearts today through his
actions when he was living.

filled with pride in him because of
which he turned out to be an atheist.
He agreed that there was some
sort of pride in him but that did not
stop him from believing in God.
He tries to explain to his friends
that a person can stop believing
in God when he considers himself
superior or equal to God, he tries to
explain that he is not God or has no
thoughts to boast about himself as
God. He was naturally an atheist.
