This document provides information about the ESE505 Wireless Communications course taught by Professor Xin Wang. The course will cover an overview of wireless techniques, cellular concepts, modulation techniques, multiple access techniques, coding for error detection and correction, and 4G/5G mobile wireless systems. Students will complete homework assignments, a midterm, final, and project. The project involves writing a survey paper on a selected wireless communications topic after thorough research.

 Shannon defined the capacity limits of communication
channel with additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN)
 For a channel without fading, shadowing, ISI, the
maximum possible data rate on a given channel of
bandwidth B is

 This theoretical limit cannot be achieved in practice
