WIRELESS POWER
TRANSMISSION
SYSTEM
INTRODUCTION:-
The wireless power transmission system
discovered by Dr. Nikola tesla in 1891
These transmission of electricity from
one place to another place without
using wire.
The conventional energy transfer is
using wire.
FUNTION OF THESE SYSTEM :-
•Mutual Inductance (M)
▫When current in one inductor induces voltage in a
nearby inductor.
•K: Coefficient of Coupling
•L1 & L2: Inductance of first & second
coil, respectively
•Resonant Frequency
oTo achieve better wireless power transmission, the
Power source must be of the same frequency of
receiving coil.
Power source frequency (F1) = Receiving coil frequency (F2)
F1=F2= 1/(2π√(L2*C2))
TECHNOLOGY :-
▫ FOR SHORT-DISTANCE -
•Inductive Coupling
•Resonant inductive coupling
•Air ionization
▫ FOR Long-Distances -
•Microwave power transmission
•Laser power transmission
MICROWAVE POWER TRANSMISSION :-
Microwave power transmission is called solar power
satellite to be build in high earth orbit to collect sun light and
convert that energy into microwave, then bemed to very large
antenna on earth, the microwave would be converted into
conventional electrical power with the hellp of rectenna.
The microwave transmitting devices are classified as
Microwave Vacuum Tubes magnetron is mostly used for
experimentation of WPT.
The microwave transmission often uses 2.45GHz or
5.8GHz band.
The other choices of frequencies are -
•8.5 GHz
•10 GHz
•and 35 GHz
The microwave power transfer technology firstly used in
wardenclyffe tower.
It was designed and constructed by nokola tesla mainly for
wireless power transmission.
The 187 feet tall tower to broadcast energy.
Circuit digram of wardenclyffe tower :-
ADVANTAGE :-
•Low maintenance cost.
•More effective when the transmiting and
receving points are along a line of sight
•Need to grid, substation are eleminated.
•Transmission are easy.
CONCLUSION :-
•Batter than conventional wired transfer.
•Energy crisis can be decreased.
•Low loss.
•More reliable than traditional power.
•In future, world will be comletely wireless.
