Stage 2 Installed W7 RC onto IT Support Engineers laptops Trailed laptops on live system for 2-3 weeks Impressed by speed of install and software/hardware compatibility 4 laptops installed within 2 hours Main problems was finger print recognition driver on Toshiba Tablet Also had problems getting tablet function to work

Stage 3 Installed W7 onto 15 different spec and aged machines Impressed by speed of install and software/hardware compatibility All 15 machines, installed and within AD within 4 hours 4 copies of W7 on DVD’s used No major problems. Machines being used by various employees of the school including Admin, Estates and Theatre Machines within own AD OU with new GPOs
5. Stage 4 Installed W7 onto 20 identical spec machines Install was via WDS Impressed by speed of install and software/hardware compatibility All 20 machines, installed and within AD within a morning No major problems. Machines being used by students within an ICT Suite
6. Stage 5 To be installed Oct 2009 Installation of W7 onto 26 same spec machines using MDT 2010 Findings to be published late October
7. Stage 6 To be installed Christmas 2009 Installation of W7 onto all boarding house machines using MDT 2010 Findings to be published late October
8. Stage 7 To be installed 2010 Installation of W7 onto rest of school machines Findings to be published during 2010

10. Conclusion General consensus is both staff and pupils very satisfied with speed and new features Few minor problems with drivers No major logging in issues I believe in a staged approach and would recommend it to all schools considering W7 Make sure IT Support staff are fluent first before any other users within the school
