William Shakespeare was born in 1564 in Stratford-upon-Avon, England. He was baptized at Holy Trinity Church and likely attended the local grammar school. In 1582 at age 18, he married Anne Hathaway and had three children with her. After marrying, Shakespeare left Stratford for London and began his career in the theatre, writing plays and acting. He became a shareholder and playwright for the Lord Chamberlain's Men theatre company. Some of his most famous plays were written during this time, including Romeo and Juliet. Shakespeare died in 1616 at age 52 and was buried at Holy Trinity Church.
