William Henry Gates III is an American business magnate, philanthropist, investor, computer programmer, and inventor who founded the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, one of the largest private foundations in the world. As of 2013, Gates had donated $28 billion to the Foundation which supports causes like vaccination projects in developing countries, fighting diseases in African children and Afghanistan/Pakistan, and preventing diseases such as AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis.
