                                  WILL    & BE   GOING TO
We use these two tenses to talk about future actions but there are important differences
between them:

   a) We use will to talk about:
            - Predictions and promises: In 2050 people will travel in flying cars.
            - Spontaneous decisions: A: It’s cold / B: Don’t worry, I’ll close the window.
   b) we use be going to to talk about:
            - plans and intentions: I’m going to play tennis in the afternoon.
            - predictions based on a present evidence: Look at the dark cloud. It’s going to rain.

Complete the sentences using will or be going to.
1. A: Why are you turning on the television?
   B: Because ____________________________(watch) the News.
2. A: Oh, I just realized that I don’t have any money.
   B: You don’t? Well, don’t worry. I ________________________(lend) you some.
3. A: I have a headache.
   B: You do? Wait a second, I ________________________ (get) an aspirin for you.
4. A: I’ve got a toothache and I___________________________(go) to the dentist in the
afternoon.
5. A: I love aeroplanes and I________________________ (be) a pilot.
6. A: Where are you going? Are you going shopping?
   B: Yes, I___________________________(buy) something for dinner.
7. A: I don’t know how to use this camera.
   B: It’s easy. I___________________________(show) you.
8. A: Did you mail that letter to me?
   B: Oh, sorry! I completely forgot. I ___________________________(do) it now.
9. A: Has Dan decided what to do when he finishes high school?
   B: Oh, yes. Everything is planned. He ___________________________ (take) some months
   off and then he ___________________________ (start) classes at university.
10. A: My tea is not sweet enough.
   B: I ___________________________(get) you some sugar.
11. A: Have you finished your homework yet?
   B: No, I ___________________________ (stay) up late and finish them.
12. A: Why don’t we go to the park this afternoon?
   B: sorry, I can’t. I ___________________________(visit) my grandparents.
13. A: Why is your father filling that bucket with water?
   B: Because he ___________________________ (wash) his car.
14. A: I’ve decided to paint this room.
   B: Really? What colour ___________________________ (you/ paint) it?
15: A: Shall we go to the cinema this afternoon?
   B: Sorry, I ________________________(eat) out with my family tonight .
