Entrepreneur Kimberly deCastro established Wildflower International in 1991 to provide IT-related services to federal government agencies. Today, Wildflower International has grown its service offerings to include cloud technology, data center infrastructure, cybersecurity, and communications. Kimberly deCastro continues to serve as president and CEO. In addition to IT services, Wildflower engages in corporate social responsibility. It supports various projects in its hometown of Santa Fe as well as the greater Northern New Mexico area. These projects are often geared toward economic development and education. Concerning economic development, Wildflower promotes the local economy by subcontracting some of its work with the federal government to small businesses in the area, funding business grant pools, and directing venture capital to local startups. The company also contributes to economic development initiatives and supports entrepreneurship development programs. On the education front, Wildflower supports scholarship programs in area schools and colleges. It further promotes student mentoring, apprenticeships, and academic awards. Keen on building tech talent at home, the company donates technology equipment to local public schools every year. In 2017, for example, it donated $10,000 worth of equipment to the Pojoaque Valley Schools.

This includes funding digital infrastructure projects to connect the millions of women without home Internet access.

Based in Santa Fe, Kimberly deCastro launched her small business, Wildflower International, Ltd., in 1991. Since leading the company to its first federal contract with the U.S. Department of Energy, Kimberly deCastro has continued to guide Wildflower International in the role of chief executive officer. In 2021, Wildflower announced its platinum partnership with The Women’s Center.
Founded in 1974, The Women’s Center is a nonprofit providing mental health services to thousands of community members every year. Funds raised are allocated to therapy sessions and support groups. The organization held its 2021 Virtual Leadership Conference on April 9, 2021.
The virtual conference featured multiple keynote speakers, including journalist Julie Donaldson, who shared her experience of facing adversity throughout her career. Jacki Zehner and Jummy Olabanji participated in a panel discussion addressing the importance of community service.
Other topics covered throughout the day included the power of trauma and humility in leadership. Additionally, the program featured a special musical performance by Michael Franti.
Eligibility Requirements for the HUBZone Certification
Kimberly deCastro is the president and CEO of Wildflower International, a woman-owned federal contractor and HUBZone-certified small business that provides technology solutions to the US Department of Energy. The HUBZone certification program supports small businesses located in economically disadvantaged areas and aims to allocate 3% of federal contracts to HUBZone companies, which must meet requirements around ownership, location, and employee residence to qualify.

- 2. Introduction Entrepreneur Kimberly deCastro established Wildflower International in 1991 to provide IT- related services to federal government agencies. Today, Wildflower International has grown its service offerings to include cloud technology, data center infrastructure, cybersecurity, and communications. Kimberly deCastro continues to serve as president and CEO. In addition to IT services, Wildflower engages in corporate social responsibility. It supports various projects in its hometown of Santa Fe as well as the greater Northern New Mexico area. These projects are often geared toward economic development and education.

Concerning economic development, Wildflower promotes the local economy by subcontracting some of its work with the federal government to small businesses in the area, funding business grant pools, and directing venture capital to local startups. The company also contributes to economic development initiatives and supports entrepreneurship development programs. On the education front, Wildflower supports scholarship programs in area schools and colleges. It further promotes student mentoring, apprenticeships, and academic awards. Keen on building tech talent at home, the company donates technology equipment to local public schools every year. In 2017, for example, it donated $10,000 worth of equipment to the Pojoaque Valley Schools.
