WiFi was invented in 1991 by 5 men led by Dr. John O'Sullivan to allow electronic devices to communicate over a wireless radio signal. Now WiFi is ubiquitous and provides internet access from smartphones, laptops, and other devices anywhere within range of a WiFi network or hotspot. WiFi networks are commonly available both privately in homes and businesses and publicly in places like airports, hotels, and restaurants to attract customers.
