This document discusses the issue of female foeticide in India. It begins by defining female foeticide as aborting a female fetus outside of legal methods, often done through sex determination tests. Advancements in technology and the introduction of sex determination tests in the 1970s have led to millions of missing women in Asia due to sex-selective abortion. The practice of female foeticide stems from India's patriarchal society where women have secondary status, lower earning potential, are subject to patriarchal inheritance structures, and the tradition of dowry. This has resulted in a declining child sex ratio. The government has implemented acts like the PNDT Act and PCPNDT Act to regulate sex determination and ban sex-
