Shah Waliullah was born in 1703 in Delhi to a respected family of Islamic scholars. He received a comprehensive Islamic education from his father and brother from a young age, studying subjects like the Quran, Hadith, jurisprudence and exegesis. This strong foundation allowed him to later become a prominent scholar, and he also developed fluency in multiple languages beyond Arabic and Persian. During his early life, Shah Waliullah experienced a spiritual awakening and connection to Islamic spirituality that deepened his commitment to religious studies and reform.
