Who Am I…Really? Scripture Ephesians 1:3-14
The person we think we are The person others think we are The person we really are The person we think others think we are But who are we……….really??? WE ARE WHO GOD SAYS WE ARE. It seems like each one of us is four different persons
Before we were Christians God saw us as: Guilty – James 2:10 Spiritually dead – Ephesians 2:1-2 Condemned – John 3:18 God saw us as needing forgiveness, needing a new birth, needing reconciliation to make possible a restored relationship with Himself. Separated from God – Ephesians 4:18
What does God think of me now? Ephesians 1:3-14
Blessed with every spiritual blessing (1:3) Chosen before the creation of the world (1:4) Holy and blameless (1:4) Adopted as sons (1:5) Redeemed (1:7) Forgiven (1:7) Given wisdom and understanding (1:8) Shown the mystery of His will (1:9) Sealed by the Spirit as a deposit guaranteeing an inheritance (1:13,14)
God’s workmanship, created to do good works (2:10) Further in Ephesians we see more of who we are now and what we have in Christ: A dwelling place for the Holy Spirit (2:22) Brought near to God (2:13) Fellow citizens with other Christians and members of God’s household (2:19)
God chose us – salvation began with God God rescued us – He bought us back; He forgave us God adopted us – as members of His family, with all the privileges and blessings
Live up to your position (4:1-3) Use your spiritual gifts (4:11-16) Put off the old life, put on the new life (4:17-32) Be imitators of God (5:1-21) Put on the armour of God (6:10-17) Pray
1 Peter 2:9,10 9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
