3. Leviticus 19:1-2 (NKJV)
19 And the LORD
spoke to Moses,
saying, 2 “Speak to all
the congregation of
the children of Israel,
and say to them: ‘You
shall be holy, for I the
LORD your
God am holy.
4. 1 Corinthians 3:16-17 (NKJV)
16 Do you not know that you are the
temple of God and that the Spirit of
God dwells in you? 17 If anyone [a]
defiles the temple of God, God will
destroy him. For the temple of God
is holy, which temple you are.
5. The Bible compares man
to the temple
We can see that the apostle Paul was
inspired to consider man a temple.
Just as God dwelt in the temple in time past,
in the same way the Holy Spirit dwells in
the believers now.
In doing this comparison, he represents the
three elements of man very clearly.
7. THREE PARTS
OF THE TEMPLE
The outer court with a brazen altar for the
sacrifice, and the brazen laver for washing.
This is the starting place of forgiveness and
salvation, with a great deal of priestly
activity.
This part can be seen by everyone and
everyone can go into.
All outward worship is offered to God here.
8. THE SECOND AREA CALLED
THE HOLY PLACE
In here there was less activity; here we find
the table of showbread and the menorah of
God, the seven-branched candlestick that
illuminated the room.
In the Holy Place, only the priests can enter.
Here the priests offer the blood, the oil, the
incense, and the bread to God.
This is a place of inside worship & offering.
9. THE HOLY OF HOLIES
The Holy of Holies is dark. No one can come
before Him. Although the high priest is
allowed once a year to enter the Holy of
Holies.
In here, there was no menorah, no lamp-
light because the light of the Holiest place
was the Shekinah presence of God Himself.
In that place there was one piece of
furniture: The Mercy Seat.
10. THREE PARTS OF MAN
The body is like the outer court.
Everyone can see its life.
Here, man should obey all God’s
commandments.
Here, God’s Son died for man.
11. UNSEEN IS THE MAN’S SOUL
Which is the inward life of man.
It includes man’s mind, will and feelings.
This is the Holy Place to a regenerated soul.
His love, thoughts, and desires are all here.
In this place there is light, everything is
clear, and the priests come in and out to
serve God.
12. THE SPIRIT OF MAN
Is the Holy of Holies behind the veil,
unreachable by human light and invisible to
the human eyes. This is "the secret place of the
Most High" (Psa. 91:1).
It is the habitation of God, no man can reach
unless God removes the veil.
The spirit is deeper than man’s consciousness;
it is unreachable by man’s feelings. It is in this
place that man fellowships with God.
13. 1 Corinthians 6:15-17 (NKJV)
15 Do you not know that your bodies are
members of Christ? Shall I then take the
members of Christ and make them members
of a harlot? Certainly not! 16 Or do you not
know that he who is joined to a harlot is one
body with her? For “the two,” He says, “shall
become one flesh.”17 But he who is joined to
the Lord is one spirit with Him.
14. 1 Corinthians 6:18-20 (NKJV)
18 Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a
man does is outside the body, but he who
commits sexual immorality sins against his
own body. 19 Or do you not know that your
body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who
is in you, whom you have from God, and you
are not your own? 20 For you were bought at
a price; therefore glorify God in your
body [a]and in your spirit, which are God’s.
15.
16.
17. 2 Corinthians 6:14-16a (NKJV)
14 Do not be unequally yoked together with
unbelievers. For what [a]fellowship has
righteousness with lawlessness? And
what [b]communion has light with
darkness? 15 And what accord has Christ with
Belial? Or what part has a believer with an
unbeliever? 16 And what agreement has the
temple of God with idols? For you[c] are the
temple of the living God. As God has said:
18. 2 Corinthians 6:16b (NKJV)
“I will dwell in them
And walk
among them.
I will be their God,
And they shall be
My people.”
Notice this
expressions:
In them.
Among them.
I will be.
They shall be.
19.
20. 2 Corinthians 6:17-18 (NKJV)
17 Therefore
“Come out from among them
And be separate, says the Lord.
Do not touch what is unclean,
And I will receive you.”
18 “I will be a Father to you,
And you shall be My sons and daughters,
Says the LORD Almighty.”
24. Ephesians 2:20-22 (NKJV)
20 having been built on the foundation of
the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ
Himself being the chief cornerstone, 21 in
whom the whole building, being fitted
together, grows into a holy temple in the
Lord, 22 in whom you also are being built
together for a dwelling place of God in the
Spirit.
26. 1 Peter 2:5 (NKJV)
5 you also, as living stones, are being
built up a spiritual house, a holy
priesthood, to offer up spiritual
sacrifices acceptable to God through
Jesus Christ.
28. DARKNESS AND LIGHT
In the Holy of Holies there is no light,
for this is God’s habitation.
In the Holy Place there is light because
there is the lampstand with seven
branches.
In the outer court everything is
exposed under the sun.
29. A picture of a regenerated person:
His spirit is like the Holy of Holies, where
God dwells.
This place is entered by faith and is totally
dark.
This is a place which the believer cannot
see, feel, or understand.
30. The soul is like the Holy Place, where there
is much power of understanding, many
thoughts, much knowledge, and many rules
and where one comprehends both the things
in the psychological world and the things in
the physical world.
In this place there is the shining of the
lampstand.
31. The body is like the outer court.
It is seen by all.
All its activities and living are visible to
everyone.
32. NEXT WEEK:
THE THIRTH TEMPLE.
THE TEMPLE IN HEAVEN.
THE NEW JERUSALEM.
