STRUCTURE AND
                FUNCTION

 Anatomy is the study of the body’s structure, and physiology is the
study of the body’s function. Having a knowledge of both anatomy
and physiology can be very helpful in attempting to solve problems
concerning the body’s health.

 CAN YOU NAME THIS FUNCTION?
LIFE CHARACTERISTICS

 Growth, reproduction, development

 The composition of an organism

 The responsiveness and the organization

 CAN YOU NAME THIS FUNCTION?
HOMEOSTASIS

 Homeostasis is the tendency of a system, especially the
physiological system of higher animals, to maintain internal stability,
owing to the coordinate response of its parts to any situation or
stimulus that would tend to disturb its normal condition or funtion.

 CAN YOU NAME THIS FUNCTION?
HUMAN ORGANIZATIONS

 The body is described as having seven different structural levels.
Them being: Chemical, Organelle, Cell, Tissue, Organ, Organ System,
Organism. Chemical is broken down into three smaller subsections
being atom, molecule, and macromolecule. Organism is the final
stage, where a single complete individual is made.

 CAN YOU NAME THIS FUNCTION?
ANATOMICAL PLANES

 Coronal plane (frontal plane)- divides the body in half (belly and back)

 Sagittal plane- left and right halves

 Midsagittal-(median plane)- equal let and right

 Transverse- sectional plane divides the body into superior and inferior

BODY ORGANIZATIONS

 The human organism can be
divided into an axial portion (head,
neck, and trunk), the abdomen can
be divided into four quadrants or
         nine regions
