David demonstrated grace to Mephibosheth, the crippled son of Jonathan, by restoring his lands and wealth even though he did not deserve it and could never repay it. David adopted Mephibosheth into his family and had him eat at the king's table regularly, treating him just like one of the king's sons, in honor of his love for Jonathan. Mephibosheth's disability served as a constant reminder of the extent of God's grace.
