What is structure? Solution Stucture: Stucture is defined as a construction or framework of identifiable elements (components, entities, factors, members, parts, steps, etc.) which gives form and stability, and resists stresses and strains. Structures have defined boundaries within which (1) each element is physically or functionally connected to the other elements, and (2) the elements themselves and their interrelationships are taken to be either fixed (permanent) or changing only occasionally or slowly. Few examples of structures are plane frames, space frames, plane truss, space truss , continuous beams etc. To analyse structures we have 2 methods of analysis. They are 1. Stiffness method 2. Force method If the structure has more degree of indeterminacy we use stiffness method. If the structure has more degree of freedom but less degree of indeterminacy then we use flexible method..
