Saskatchewan in motion is a provincial movement that aims to increase physical activity among children and youth in Saskatchewan. It works through 165 community teams, 452 schools, 469 workplaces and thousands of leaders across 259 communities. The vision is for Saskatchewan residents to be the healthiest and most physically active in Canada. Goals include raising physical activity grades for children and youth and getting kids moving more. The movement is supported by developing leadership, tracking progress, connecting participants, and inspiring communities to support physical activity opportunities.

- To address the physical inactivity crisis in Saskatchewan, partners joined forces to create Saskatchewan in motion.
- Saskatchewan in motion is, a province-wide movement aimed at increasing physical activity for health, social, environmental, and economic benefits.
- The vision of Saskatchewan in motion is that the people of Saskatchewan will be the healthiest, most physically active in Canada.
- In motion wants to RAISE THE GRADE on physical activity for children and youth. The Active Healthy Kids Canada Report Card on Physical Activity for Children & Youth, assigns a grade not only physical to activity levels, but also to actions taken by parents, community leaders and the school community in providing opportunities for our kids to make active choices. In motion hopes to see higher grades across all indicators in the report card.
- The bottom line is that Saskatchewan in motion aims to get kids moving!
- The greatest asset to achieve our goal is the in motion movement.The in motion movement of leaders can be found in over 250 communities around the province.Through the combined commitment of the in motion movement and supporting resources Saskatchewan in motion is seen as a national and international leader in physical activity.
- What do we mean by a movement?A movement is a group of people working individually, collaboratively or collectively towards a common goal.What makes it a movement is that we are all connected to one another through our common work.
- Movements don’t just happen.A movement happens when… People talk to one another, when ideas spread within the community and most of all when peer support leads people to do what they always knew was the right thing.It takes work to ensure the movement shares stories, ideas, frustrations and expertise. A movement has to be nurtured in order for it to grow, to thrive and to achieve great things.
- To strengthen the movement in motion: Created a manifesto Works to make it easy for leaders to connect Tracks and reports on the movements progress.
- Our movement has a strong and passionate goal – to get kids moving!Through presentations like this and many other activities it is important to invite new leaders to take action and join the movement.
