While the settings, events, and characters are portrayed as if they could have occurred during the actual historical time, some details may be fictional as the author did not experience the time period first-hand. For a story to be considered historical fiction, the plot and characters must seem plausible and not deviate too much from what is known about the actual historical accuracy of the setting and events portrayed.
