Gamification - Why it works and how to use it in your businessRelevantz
“Gamification” is the term used for this process of adding gaming elements to a non-traditional game setting in order to engage with customers or employees in a memorable and fun way.
Got Gamification? Meeting Event Goals With GamesMichelle Bruno
After Pokemon GO, a lot of event professionals renewed their interest in games. This article from The Meeting Professional magazine gives some examples and discusses strategies for using gameplay in business events.
An Introduction to Funifier’s FUNIFICATION ENGINE.
The overall goal of gamification is to more deeply engage with consumers, employees, partners and other audiences so as to inspire them to participate, collaborate, share and interact in some activity or community. A compelling, dynamic, and sustained gamification experience can be used to accomplish a variety of mission-critical business goals. This is FUNIFICATION.
This document provides an introduction to gamification solutions from Funifier. It discusses what gamification is, how it works to motivate behaviors, and Funifier's gamification methodology. Funifier's gamification engine can be applied across various industries and use cases to increase engagement. Case studies demonstrate increased app usage, transactions, and employee productivity through implementing gamification strategies. The document emphasizes best practices like testing and measuring key performance indicators. It argues that now is a good time for companies to adopt gamification as spending and demand in this area are rising significantly.
Gamification offers significant potential benefits for businesses but is often misunderstood and misapplied. When implemented as a methodology that draws on human psychology research around gameplay, gamification can deeply engage users by appealing to basic human instincts and harnessing emotions like motivation, collaboration and problem solving. Successful examples demonstrate gamification's ability to drive behavior change, enhance learning, and establish longer-term customer relationships through psychological engagement. However, businesses must move beyond superficial rewards and implement gamification as a holistic framework to realize its full impact.
This document discusses gamification, which refers to using game design elements in non-game contexts to promote engagement and desired behaviors. It provides examples of using gamification in education, workplaces, and for motivating behaviors like learning. The document notes that gamification aims to engage people and motivate action through elements like quests, rewards, rankings, levels, and social profiles within communities. It predicts that gamification will grow significantly in industry in the next few years and discusses some current uses in fields like retail, healthcare, and human resources to recruit and train employees.

Personal brand exploration rush ejdys (1)RushEjdys
Rush Ejdys created a personal brand exploration document that outlines his background, skills, career goals, and professional development plan. His long term goal is to work at Bungie Studios as a community manager or play tester within the next 6-12 months. Short term, he wants to advance his portfolio and showcase it at conventions. Rush has experience in customer service, public speaking, and the tech industry from his theater and virtual reality club involvement. He is proficient in 3D modeling software and has strong skills in audience development and user studies.
The document discusses gamification, which is applying game mechanics and structures to traditionally non-game activities. It provides examples of gamification used in websites like Farmville, Nike+, and HealthMonth to encourage user engagement and behavior through rewards, leaderboards, and competition. However, some argue gamification can be exploitative if the game elements are only superficial and not central to the user experience. True gamification makes play an essential part of interacting with the system and helps users become better players over time.

Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

HCL Notes and Domino License Cost Reduction in the World of DLAUpanagenda
Webinar Recording: https://www.panagenda.com/webinars/hcl-notes-and-domino-license-cost-reduction-in-the-world-of-dlau/
The introduction of DLAU and the CCB & CCX licensing model caused quite a stir in the HCL community. As a Notes and Domino customer, you may have faced challenges with unexpected user counts and license costs. You probably have questions on how this new licensing approach works and how to benefit from it. Most importantly, you likely have budget constraints and want to save money where possible. Don’t worry, we can help with all of this!
We’ll show you how to fix common misconfigurations that cause higher-than-expected user counts, and how to identify accounts which you can deactivate to save money. There are also frequent patterns that can cause unnecessary cost, like using a person document instead of a mail-in for shared mailboxes. We’ll provide examples and solutions for those as well. And naturally we’ll explain the new licensing model.
Join HCL Ambassador Marc Thomas in this webinar with a special guest appearance from Franz Walder. It will give you the tools and know-how to stay on top of what is going on with Domino licensing. You will be able lower your cost through an optimized configuration and keep it low going forward.
These topics will be covered
- Reducing license cost by finding and fixing misconfigurations and superfluous accounts
- How do CCB and CCX licenses really work?
- Understanding the DLAU tool and how to best utilize it
- Tips for common problem areas, like team mailboxes, functional/test users, etc
- Practical examples and best practices to implement right away

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.
