Global Marketing was a fundamental educational component for my overall understanding of how
culture affects a business. A major way in which this class has affected my thought process, is that
today, I put much more emphasis on the importance of culture. I have noticed this change in my
work for other courses as well, in the sense that I consider whether business decisions make sense

In spite of their differences, both African and African–American culture have been able to connect in
certain ways in recent years, as well as other cultures. Technology, specifically social media has
allowed my generation to connect with one another even with our cultural differences. There is a
chemistry that exists within my generation that my parent's generation never could have imagined
was possible. The International Association of Business Communicators says "At its core, social
media are about sharing information across boundaries. We can now find out what we want from
whomever we want. Social media is breaking down hierarchical, regional, age and cultural

Culture is the characteristics of a group of people defined by language, cuisine, religion social habits
music and art. There are many different types of culture including western culture, eastern culture,
African culture and many more. Culture is influenced by the groups of people that make up the

Edward B. Tyler. It was first mentioned in 1871 in his book named 'Primitive Culture'. He stated

A consumerist society is a group of people who put a lot of time, energy and thought into consuming
material goods. The media plays an essential role in this. In America, people are constantly
consuming advertisements persuading them to consume materialistic goods. Children aged 2–11
consumes 25,000 advertisements on television annually while an adult consumes 52,500

can also be unhealthy. Some of unhealthy cultures are: those that are change resistant, those that
