This document provides an agenda to discuss strategy execution. It notes that success requires aligning an organization's strategy and people. Currently, most organizations take a fragmented approach, with disconnected strategy, execution, and results. This leads to weak leadership, silos, and strategy gaps. The document introduces Scientrix as a digital solution that addresses these issues. Scientrix uses a matrix-based concept to integrate objectives, responsibilities, and strategies throughout an organization. This enables alignment and collective progress toward goals.
The document discusses results based management and how Scientrix supports it. Results based management links ultimate, intermediate, and immediate outcomes through logical cause-and-effect relationships. Scientrix provides a digital solution using a matrix approach to embed key principles like alignment, agility, and collaboration. It allows visualization and integration of plans across departments. Scientrix also facilitates monitoring and evaluation through initiative dashboards, measurement linking, and social collaboration tools.
This document discusses integrative thinking and the Scientrix approach. Integrative thinking is defined as a discipline for solving complex problems. Scientrix provides a digital solution for strategy execution using an XYZ matrix concept. The Scientrix approach is considered powerful for integrative thinking as it allows for consideration of multiple problem dimensions, multi-directional causality, and a framework to visualize relationships while resolving tensions creatively. Scientrix is presented as ideal for problems with more than two dimensions, such as designing and implementing strategy, creating IT architectures, and integrating different spheres of government.
This document discusses an organizational mind map presented by Scientrix Holdings. It outlines Scientrix's spiral methodology for developing strategy, which involves clarifying objectives and roles at each level of an organization to ensure long, mid, and short term goals are achieved. The document also notes that Scientrix can help organizations integrate and align their critical dimensions through a matrix structure that maps strategies and connects high-level strategy to operational execution.
4 Steps to Successful Big Data Product ManagementTravis Turney
This deck was the basis for a talk about big data product management I gave at Big Data Mornings (@BigDataAM) in Atlanta at @Hypepotamus on Wed August 28, 2013.
I delivered this talk at BAConf Pune on 15th Sept 2012. I have focused on mistakes that we BAs make. There are few comments in the speaker notes. I will try to upload a more detailed version later.
The document discusses common mistakes made by business analysts, including missing key stakeholders, failing to consider the big picture, scope creep where requirements expand, trying to retrofit solutions rather than designing for requirements, overlooking non-functional requirements, and not properly involving support and infrastructure teams. It concludes by thanking the reader.

When I first started delivering patent landscapes, I was taught that there are three steps to a patent landscape analysis; create the data set; clean the data set; analyse the data set.
In an R&D environment, this met the expectations of project scientists. Despite this, Patent Landscaping never became the strategic tool I knew it should be. Is that because the process lacked the key step: reporting and communicating to senior stakeholders? Short of time and attention, they want to know what a landscape means; preferably in one PowerPoint slide.
How do we communicate with senior stakeholders effectively and ensure that Patent Landscapes play an effective part in strategic decision making?
The document discusses innovation management and creating an innovative ecosystem within an organization. It compares the traditional way of working to the startup way of working, advocating for adopting elements of both through an ambidextrous approach. Some key elements discussed include developing a strategy and leadership to support innovation, providing flexible funding and facilities for teams, using lean startup and open innovation methods, and measuring indicators of success to continuously improve the innovation process.

How the Analytics Translator can make your organisation more AI drivenSteven Nooijen
The document discusses how the Analytics Translator role can help organizations become more AI-driven by bridging the gap between business and technology. The Analytics Translator collects and prioritizes ideas, develops business cases for AI solutions, guides the solution development process, and drives adoption. Characteristics of a good Analytics Translator include understanding both business and AI, taking ownership, and operating at the intersection of UX, technology, and business. Developing this role is important for companies to successfully create impact and value from data and AI.
AI Maturity Levels and the Analytics TranslatorGoDataDriven
Buzzwords like Big Data, Cloud, and AI have been out there now for a couple of years. But today, businesses have a clear focus on the application of data use cases and the challenges around that such as metadata management, governance, security, and maintainability in general. Everybody seems to have some version of a data lake and wants to consolidate it into something (more) useful, or move from an on-premise version to the cloud. There is a general need to streamline current practices while also attempting to give multiple segments of users (data scientists, analysts, marketeers, business people, and HR) access in a way that is tailored to their needs and skills. In other words: businesses today are heavily invested in data and AI, but many have a hard time knowing how to mature it to the next level.
This is exactly where a "maturity model" comes into play. The goal of a maturity model is to help businesses in understanding their current and target competencies. This helps organisations in defining a roadmap for improving their competency. A maturity model is therefore one way of structuring progression, whether the company already embraces data science as a core competency, or, if it is just getting started.
In this presentation on maturity models, we answer the following questions:
1. What exactly is a maturity model and why would you need it? We address this by sharing GoDataDriven's maturity model and describing the different phases we have identified based on our experience in the field.
2. How can you use a maturity model to advance your organisation? Having a maturity model alone is not enough, in order for it to be valuable you need to act upon it. This paper provides concrete examples on how to do act based on practical stories and experiences from our clients and ourselves.

A practical journey to mature your data & AI capabilitiesSteven Nooijen
Today, about 80% of organisations consider data and AI as an essential part of their strategy. However, 7 out of 10 organisations report minimal to no gains from their data & AI initiatives. With businesses heavily invested in data and AI, what makes the difference between being successful and failing with data and AI?
In our Data & AI Maturity Journey track at the Applied Machine Learning Days in Lausanne 2022, we invite different companies to talk about how they became data & AI driven organisations.
We share a practical — and widely applicable — maturity journey that demonstrates how organisations grow their data and AI competencies. To reach maturity, companies usually work on two axes: Analytics Capabilities — Data, People & Skills, Tools & Tech — and Business Adoption — Executive Support, Funding, Implementation.
But where do you stand in this journey and how can you reach your destination? Join this session if you want to understand the phases and drivers of the data maturity journey. Get the chance to learn from other organisations that embarked on this journey before you.

It lists achievements such as facilitating seven on-time software releases in three years at Quantum, delivering the first complete object storage archive in the industry, and leading a development effort at Legato that delivered the timely release of their data protection product. It also improved engineering initiatives that resulted in a 45% drop in escalations.
The document summarizes key points from a business analytics conference. It discusses how analytics has become more important and useful due to increased data and new tools. While analytics is helping organizations, clear business needs and leadership support are still needed to ensure insights are properly used. There is a shortage of analytics talent, and on-the-job training is critical for developing skills. India has a large share of the analytics outsourcing market but can move further up the value chain through faster delivery and challenging itself.

Currently, there is a growing demand for standardization and interoperability in energy data and modeling. Open source standards and specifications within the energy sector can also alleviate challenges associated with data fragmentation, transparency, and accessibility. At the same time, it is crucial to consider privacy and security concerns throughout the development of open source platforms.
This webinar will delve into the motivations behind establishing LF Energy’s Carbon Data Specification Consortium. It will provide an overview of the draft specifications and the ongoing progress made by the respective working groups.
Three primary specifications will be discussed:
-Discovery and client registration, emphasizing transparent processes and secure and private access
-Customer data, centering around customer tariffs, bills, energy usage, and full consumption disclosure
-Power systems data, focusing on grid data, inclusive of transmission and distribution networks, generation, intergrid power flows, and market settlement data
How information systems are built or acquired puts information, which is what they should be about, in a secondary place. Our language adapted accordingly, and we no longer talk about information systems but applications. Applications evolved in a way to break data into diverse fragments, tightly coupled with applications and expensive to integrate. The result is technical debt, which is re-paid by taking even bigger "loans", resulting in an ever-increasing technical debt. Software engineering and procurement practices work in sync with market forces to maintain this trend. This talk demonstrates how natural this situation is. The question is: can something be done to reverse the trend?
