What do you need for a good school?
Some ideas to make a school good
A school has to be a safe place for students to learn anything they want other than just books.
All the students should be given equal opportunity and encouraged to participate in
extracurricular activities. They should get chance to have classes like dance, sports and arts.
Besides that, they could also get to learn different life skills example, crochet, knitting, basket
weaving, etc. they could use to earn money later in their life. They should also get lot of
practical along with theoretical knowledge.
They should have yearly field trip from school to visit different places where they can learn new
things. Visiting new places helps them broaden the mind and also relieve the stress.
Moreover, the teacher should be given training even if it is for a short amount of time. They
should be educated on how to teach especially those students who have hard time learning.
And about alternate way of teaching so that students can learn and remember easily. They
should be trained about mental challenges the students face and how to deal with them.
Teachers are the one who makes the most difference in student’s life so they should be given
proper training.
There should be teachers’ and students meeting to discuss issues and how to solve them from
time to time.
Students should be able to voice their opinions in school and be encouraged to form student
unions. Student unions can organize different events in school like programmes or charity
events. They can help organize different competitions every week. There could be spelling bee,
debate competition, quiz competition. They should also give presentation on topics they have
learnt to their friends once a month to share knowledge to each other.
The students could have a tradition of wearing Nepali cultural or their own culture dress once a
month. This could help promote Nepali culture and also learn about their own culture.
Students also could have different presentations weekly or monthly on different topics that are
not covered in school. This could include classes on mental health, different career options,
finance, agriculture, public speaking given by people who are experts in the field. We can invite
various people who have struggled in their life to share their stories so that the students can
learn from their life and their mistakes.
