This document discusses a study on international students' research skills and library experience at a diverse liberal arts college with engineering programs. The study used a mixed methods approach, including a 20-question quiz with open and closed questions administered to 29 students, as well as focus groups with 15 students. The quiz assessed students' knowledge of concepts like peer review, abstracts, and using the library catalog. Focus group questions asked about library instruction experiences and the research process. Findings showed students knew concepts like peer review but lacked skills in areas like subject headings. Students recommended improvements like subject-specific workshops and research process guides. The results were shared with writing and subject faculty and librarians to improve instruction.
