are like career
counselors

Career coaching is not just for
people starting out their careers. In
fact, given the changing world of
work we live in, career coaches often
work with people in their mid to
late stages their career
3. Career coaches are CV writers
Whilst career coaches are experienced in understanding how CV's cover
letters and supporting statements are put together, Most career coaches 
generally do not put them together from scratch. Instead, most coaches
work with their clients to advise them on how to construct the best
possible CV, supporting statement or cover letter so that the client is well
positioned for future jobs or careers
4. Career coaches are the same as
recruiters
Although its true career coaches work with their clients to help them find
jobs, they do not usually have access to a database of clients seeking
candidates for their vacancies. The role of the coach is to support their
clients so they are in a position to search for and select the right job for
them based on their stregnths, skills and abilities.
5. Only people who are being
made redundant work with
career coaches
Whilst it's true career coaches work with people who find
themselves in transition following a job loss, this is not the only
time that career coaches are needed. In fact, working with a
career coach ahead of time can help prevent you from having to
find an alternative job in a crisis.
6. Career coaches only help with
finding another job
A big part of career coaching is career design. Career coaches help
clients look beyond their next job or current career by helping them
plot and plan for their future needs.
For some clients, this means a complete career change, including
working in a career beyond the 9-5. For example, building a
portfolio career or starting a business. The most important thing is
that you are working in a career that feels authentic and offers you a
sense of purpose and fulfilment
