Gratitude is an expression of how much we depend on God and each other. It is recognizing how much we have received from God and from the people around us. Being grateful can improve anyone's life.
Stop murmuring and be a man of gratitude.

Teaching Middle... A Spiritual Practice
Teaching is profound, personal, and complex- almost a spiritual practice. Using that metaphor, perhaps we can draw on inner resources which will allow us to remain balanced and compassionate even on our most difficult days. This presentation will not espouse any specific religious tenets but gently look at philosophical underpinnings common to all.

Inner-city African American boys involved with the juvenile justice system often lack healthy relationships with adult males an important component in making a successful transition to adulthood as well as in identifying unfilled needs and exploring potential solutions that will result in needs satisfaction. Too often, these boys end up becoming disengaged from school and tend not to participate in constructive social activities, thereby further limiting their possibilities for positive contact with good role models.

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

1. What Are You Waiting For?
Mentoring with a Mission
2. Answer the Following Questions:
write in words, draw a picture of where you are or how you feel,
express these answers in a way that means something to you
1.)Take a moment and think about your life, are there any big
questions or issues you are wondering or struggling with? What are
they? Do you have life figured out ?
2.) Is there anyone outside of your family that you talk to about these
things? What would it look like to be able to weekly share life with
someone who has been there? Who do you talk to about these issues?
3.) If you had a relationship like this what would it look like? What
type of woman would you like to meet with? What character qualities
would you like her to have?
3. “Each of us fervently wants someone to see us
exactly as we are, warts and all, and still accept us.”
-Larry Crabb Understanding People p 112
4. Thus, a “discipling” relationship is one in which a
disciple helps another person to become more
obedience to Jesus in attitude, life-style and
mission.
Discipling p. 14
5. “Some people call it self-esteem. Others say self-worth.
Whatever it is—it is the feeling of significance deep
inside us that is crucial to our emotional, spiritual, and
social stability. Everyone wants to be happy and
successful, and to regard himself or herself as a
worthwhile human being. What’s so bad about that?”
-The Search For Significance student edition p. 5
6. “Spiritual formation, education of the heart, in other words,
requires something more than traditional Western forms of
instruction. It requires a mentorship of the heart, a relationship
with a teacher of life who is able to convey . . . a way of life
that is formed, not merely instructions that are given. It
requires a life shared by people who have learned that spiritual
music is sung in its own way. To educate the heart requires
learning that frees the imagination, prepares ears to listen,
focuses eyes to look with attentiveness; it requires an open
heart.” (Reese & Anderson, Spiritual Mentoring, p. 17)
7. Mentor Defined

17. Countless women today long to be nurtured. They want the love
and acceptance of a mother or a mother-substitute. They want to
feel the warmth and security of an older woman’s approval. And
Countless women of faith throughout the world today are the
embodiment of these and other virtues that equip them to nurture
younger women. But they don’t know how to do it.
Spiritual Mothering 18
18. Titus 2:3-5
3 Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not
slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is
good, 4 and so train the young women to love their husbands and
children, 5 to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind,
andsubmissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may
not be reviled

life experiences qualify a woman to nurture a

are qualified for spiritual mothering.”
