The Palestinian population is predominantly young, with 61% aged 15-64, 36.1% aged 0-14, and only 3.5% aged 65 or older. This young population has both positive and negative impacts on Palestinian society. Positively, the large proportion of youth and children means lower demand for health services since they tend to be healthier than the elderly. It also means a larger pool of educated individuals to work in the health sector, improving it. However, the large youth population also has economic downsides. It leads to high youth unemployment since there are not enough jobs. This decreases individual incomes and economic activity. It also increases government spending needs on education, parks, libraries and other services
