4.  Overpopulation include the increased demand
for resources such as fresh water and food,
starvation and malnutrition, consumption of
natural resources (such as fossil fuels) faster
than the rate of regeneration, and a deterioration
in living conditions.

6. It is presumed that men have more authority over women.
Women are subject to accepting anything that is thrown
their way, thus, if the man wants more kids – the wife has to
obey accordingly without second questioning the husband’s
decision and turning into a baby-making-machine.

7. Since the last census was conducted in 1998, the
government has no idea of what the current population is –
this just shows how neglectful the government has been
towards the growing population of Pakistan – no heed is
being paid to the causes of overpopulation.

8. Pakistan’s adult literacy rate is at 65% – that leaves the
other 35% illiterate – illiterally, that means the adults cannot
sign their own names on a paper. Regarding the
circumstances of over-population, one can only imagine
what values the other 35% holds.

9. Since there is a vast imbalance between birth rate and
death rate in Pakistan, more people are being born than
dying in the country – which is leading to overpopulation in
the country.

10. Most developing nations have large number of people who are
illiterate, have little or no knowledge about family planning.
Getting their children married at early age increase the chances
of producing more kids. Those people are unable to understand
the harmful effects of overpopulation and lack of quality
education prompts them to avoid family planning measures.

11. In Pakistan, large families are taken as a symbol of
prestige in society. The people considered large families as
blessing and thus are the unmindful of the size of the
family.

12.  There have been some breakthroughs in medical
science lately that have lead to advancement in fertility.
These can make barren women fertile and also increase
the age of a woman to be able to give birth, it is not rare
seeing a couple in their late 50s giving birth to their 7th
or 8th child.

13. It is not just the general Pakistani public, the country caters
to the largest numbers of immigrants in the world –
especially Afghan refugees, which have lead to an increase
in the overpopulation of this small country.

14. 1. Delayed Marriages: A marriage at a tender age leads to a
long span for giving birth. A UN report has suggested that
there would be a significant decline in world population if the
legal for marriage is made 20 years.
2. Education: Education forms the backbone of an individual
and economy. Women education, can work wonders in
controlling population. An educated man and woman can
readily understand the benefits of a small family.

15. 3. Spread Awareness: People need to be told and made
to understand the consequences of having too many
children. Government and non-government institutions
can carry awareness campaigns informing people how
they will be unable to provide good nutrition, education
or medical facilities to their children.
4. Medical Facilities: If provided with optimum medical
facilities population rate will almost certainly decline.

16. 5. Development: Lack of Development implies high
poverty, high illiteracy, high discrimination, lack of
awareness, lack of medical facilities and thus in turn
increased population growth. By reducing discrimination
between gender and class and ensuring development of
the whole population instead of a given segment of
society would eliminate the challenge of population
growth for once.
