` These questions are the KEY to learning You can never answer these questions with yes or no
When do we use these questions? These questions are used to gather information Example: What is your name? This question is asked at the beginning of a conversation when you are meeting someone new.  The speaker get their information by asking WH questions. SO how do you know what WH question to use?
What do you want to know? Because … Way OR  quality/ quantity Reason  Time Place Thing, idea, event, or action Person  People How? Why? When? Where? What? Who?
Who? Who do you sit next to in class? Who is your father? Who do you like better? Dora or Diego? Who is your godmother? Who is your best friend? Use  who  when you want information about a person
What? What are you doing for dinner? What did you do last night? What are they doing? What is in your backpack? Use  what  when you want information about a thing
When? When are you going to do your homework? When is your birthday? When do we have art class? When do the Giants play? Use  when  when you want information about the time something happens
Where? Where do you live? Where are you? Where do you go to school? Where can I go get pizza? Use  where  when you want information about a place
Why? Why do you want to be a teacher? Why do you want to learn English? Why is Johnny leaving school early today? Why do I need to go to Gym class? Use  why  when you want to know the reason for something
How? How are you feeling? How old is your brother? How many dogs do you have? How do I get to Market Street? How was school today? Use  how  when you want to know the way in which something is done OR when you want to know the quality/quantity.
Try it out! Who is the man in the white coat? What is he doing? Where do you think they are? When do you go see this man? Why do you think he is here? How do you think this will this end?
Answers! The man in the white coat is a dentist. He is looking at the boys teeth. They are in a dentist’s office. You go to the dentist when your teeth bother you He is at the dentist to have his teeth looked at. This will be over when the dentist is finished cleaning.
How do I answer these questions? You answer these questions using the same verb! Examples: Where do  you live ? I live  in Carlstadt, NJ. What  is today’s date ? Today’s date is  November 9th, 2011. How do  you feel ? I feel  great, thanks!
