Authorities Inner Wheel and Rotarian, dear Friends of Bulgaria and from various
Countries, first of all I apologize for my absence and I heartily thank the
Conference Chairman Nelly, who kindly will present my Project EXPO, adopted
by my Club of Torino Europea, with the hope of reaching the adhesion of many
Clubs & Districts worldwide. The first results will be presented in Milan, in an
important District Congress, in late May, for which, soon, you will receive the
invitation.

INTRODUCTION
The Project «NUTRITION & SUSTAINABILITY» - The role of Inner Wheel during EXPO
2015 – Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life, aims at giving Inner Wheel a role involving many
Inner Wheel Clubs at international level to meet with EXPO request for “working together, to kick
off debate and discussion among all the Participants who want to play an active role in the crucial
decisions about food and sustainability: not only governments, institutions and international
organizations, but also corporations, CIVIL SOCIETY and everyone who wants to make a
positive contribution to finding new solutions for the common good”.
A far-reaching topic which will certainly find the Inner Wheel ready to interact at various
levels and along with other different projects, thus building, one piece at a time, a very

2. interesting mosaic, and most of all making the Inner Wheel active and operative in this great
worldwide cultural operation.
The topic of SUSTAINABILITY, just for the great chapter of NUTRITION in all its possible
declinations, a precious energy source, will find the right way to be proficiently performed also
from within the Inner Wheel, in connection with EXPO MILANO 2015. And it will match with the
right of all Earth’s inhabitants to healthy, safe and sufficient food, involving technologies,
innovation, culture, traditions and creativity connected to the sector of food and feed.

TWO-YEAR DURATION: 1st July 2014 30th June 2016. Inner Wheel year runs from 1st July
to 30th June.
The Project will develop through two main directrix connected and interacting within each
other, aimed at bringing:

 Inner Wheel Members of the World to EXPO Milano

 The Inner Wheel’s statutory objectives are:

 147 Countries have registered to attend EXPO Milano 2015.
 Inner Wheel is present in 103 Countries in the World.
the Project MISSION is to involve, specifically through the Social Networks, as many Inner
Wheel Clubs as possible, and create an INTERNATIONAL NETWORK aimed at:

 Analysing such Topics within our Countries

JOINING THE INTERNATIONAL NETWORK AND THE PROJECT
Joining the International Network and the Project is extremely easy:
THE HIGHEST FREEDOM THE HIGHEST FLEXIBILITY
All you have to do is:
1. Communicate the joining of a Club (or another IW Organ) using the dedicated email
address: iwtoeuropea.project@libero.it.
2. Create and organize 1 EVENT in your territory, from the simplest to the most complex:
single- or multi-Club. Single- or multi-District. Single- or multi-National Organ. Of Inner
Wheel only or in collaboration with: Rotary, UNESCO, other Club Services, other ONGs.
Connection with local Institutions.
3. Once the event has taken place, issue a one-page INFORMATIVE NOTE.
4. Enclose no. 2 Pictures.
5. Enclose any Attachments (Abstracts of Reports, Recipes, Tales, Pictures of artistic works,
etc.), collecting them in proper Folders.
6. A summary of each Event will be published on the dedicated Facebook Page while a briefer
note will be published on Twitter.

and develop the sectors of food and agriculture. Such services will be specifically dedicated to

Let's create together an international network of discussion and analysis on the major and current
issues related to sustainability.
Expo Milano 2015 is much more than a six-month exposition: it is a multiyear journey, a global
movement to stimulate action and meet the challenges of the global food crisis and sustainable
development of our planet.
NUTRITION & SUSTAINABILITY
Some of the main topics of the EXPO will be considered, such as:
 strengthen the quality and the safety of feeding, by translating it into the certainty of having
and consuming healthy food and drinkable water;
 guarantee healthy and quality food to all human beings to cancel hunger, thirst, infant
mortality and malnutrition;
 prevent the big new social illnesses of our time, from obesity to cardiovascular problems,
from cancer to the most diffused epidemics, increasing the value of the practices that allow
the solution of these illnesses;
 innovate with research, technology and industry the whole food supply chain, to improve
product nutritional values, their preservation and distribution;
 educate, in particular children, teenagers, the disabled and elderly towards proper
nourishment to support new lifestyles;
 enhance the knowledge of "food traditions" as cultural and ethnic elements;
 preserve bio-diversity, respect environment as the agriculture’s ecosystem, protect food
quality and safety, educate to nutrition for the health and well-being of people;
 identify better tools of control and innovation, starting from those biotechnologies which do
not represent a threat to environment and health, to guarantee the availability of sustaining
and healthy food and water to drink and irrigate;

5.  guarantee new food sources in those geographic areas where agriculture is not yet
developed or where it is threated by soil and forest desertification, droughts and famines,
fish impoverishment of rivers and seas.

THE INNER WHEEL PARTICIPATING IN “WE, WOMEN FOR EXPO”
The FEMALE VIEW of the INNER WHEEL’s women will find its right cause participating in
WE-Women for Expo, the Project launched in collaboration with the Minister of Foreign Affairs
and Fondazione Arnoldo e Alberto Mondadori.
Our Inner Wheel Members will be now able to choose whether to work on one or more steps
indicated in WE, WOMEN FOR EXPO.
Thus, also:
1. Inner Wheel Women will look for and recover the Recipe for life, through personal,
familiar and collective memories and experiences.
2. Inner Wheel Women will be Ambassadresses, committed in the theme of nutrition.
3. Inner Wheel Women will promote Conferences and Conventions on food
responsibility, contributing to the spread, awareness and production of ideas for a more
sustainable future, thus participating in the General Discussion.
4. Inner Wheel Women who love writing, will write poems and tales taking inspiration
from memories, traditions…
5. Inner Wheel Women who are creative and artist will express themselves on the theme
of nutrition with any technique they should like.

All Documentation received will be collected and organized according to various values:

2. Thematic Areas
3. Countries, Mapping, Summary Graphics.
A FINAL GENERAL REPORT will be prepared and distributed at the Project closure, and it will
be ANYWAY available to those who should ask for it.
Finally, the Torino Europea Club project has the final goal of bringing INNER WHEEL to
undersign the WOMEN CHART, the work Manifest collectively prepared by the WE women and

6. submitted by EXPO Milano 2015 to the United Nations, as a contribution to the implementation of
the development goals post 2015.
