Welcome to the University of Michigan and the College of Literature Science and the Arts! Soon you’ll be here for Orientation. Before you arrive, we wanted to give you a brief overview of the LSA degree and the types of courses you’ll take when you’re here. LS&A offers over 2,000 courses each semester so you’ll have lots to choose from! For the next 15 minutes we would like to follow along as we introduce you to LSA, review the basic degree requirements, and get you ready for Summer Orientation. Along the way, we will hear from current UM students about how they approached these requirements, followed their passions, and made the most of their time at Michigan.
The general college wide requirements make up about ¼ of your total LSA degree. Give or take this ends up being about 30 credits.
