Hello USAG Red Cloud and Area I
Community Members!
Can you believe it we are nearing the end
of the year already; time flew by so fast, and
soon it will be Christmas and then New Years
Eve! It’s a very special time of the year to
spend with family and friends.
Unfortunately, this may not be the case
with some of our Area I members. As much
as it is a glorious time of the year, this season
can be a very difficult time for many of our
unaccompanied Soldiers and Families far from home. Please be vigilant
and watch for lonely and/or depressed symptoms, and reach out to your
Battle Buddies; invite them into your home or get them involved in Unit
or FMWR activities at the clubs, bowling centers, CACs or ACS. The Army
is one big family and we need to take care of our own, so open your
hearts and homes to your extended family here in Area I.

In today's society, filled with distractions and constant stimuli, mindfulness offers a valuable tool for regaining inner peace and reconnecting with our true selves. By cultivating mindfulness, we can develop a heightened awareness of our thoughts, feelings, and surroundings, leading to a greater sense of clarity and presence in our daily lives.

Slide 5: Impact of Mindfulness on Relationships
Mindfulness can help us better understand others and improve communication, leading to healthier relationships.
By focusing on the present moment and being fully attentive, mindfulness helps build stronger and more authentic connections with others.
Mindfulness teaches us how to be present for others in difficult times, leading to increased compassion and understanding.
Slide 6: Mindfulness Techniques and Practices
Focusing on the breath and mindful breathing can be a simple way to enter a state of mindfulness.
Body scan meditation involves focusing on different parts of the body, paying attention to any sensations and feelings.
Practicing mindful walking and eating involves consciously focusing on each step or bite, with full attention to sensory experiences.
Slide 7: Incorporating Mindfulness into Daily Life
You can practice mindfulness in everyday activities such as washing dishes or taking a walk in the park.
Adding mindfulness practice to daily routines can help increase awareness and presence.

Renewed in Grace
In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Sharing the transforming love of Jesus, across the street and around the world.
The Holy Spirit: A Smart Choice in
Personal Navigation
Jesus lived relying on the direction of the Holy Spirit
Jesus relied on the Holy Spirit in Luke.
Jesus' life was guided by the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit needs to be in our life before we can be effective.
The Christian life is not the life we live for God, but allowing
God's spirit to live through us.
The Holy Spirit not only provides directions, He is our direction.
Jesus had to go so we could experience the Holy Spirit.
Why are so many living a spirit-less life?
Some aren't aware of the Holy Spirit.
Some resist the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit:
Comforts us.
Guides us.
Convicts us.
2. Gives us the power to be His witness.
Witness is telling your story.
Faith is not private and personal, it is public and practical.

A Dramatic Presentation of the life of
Dr. Margaret Brand
On May 21, Bible Study Outreach is hosting a brunch featuring Susie
Tucker of Faith Heroines Alive, who will present one of her one woman
shows.
At the brunch Susie will bring alive the story of
Margaret Brand.
Dr. Margaret Brand went with her husband Dr.
Paul Brand to Vellore, India as medical
missionaries in the late 1940’s. Both Paul and
Margaret pioneered treatments for patients
suffering from leprosy, Paul in the field of
orthopedics and Margaret specializing in the
eye diseases related to leprosy.
They did all this while raising an adventurous
group of six children, and they remained
humble about their accomplishments, giving
7. the credit to God for all that occurred. Margaret and Paul finished their
careers in Carville, Louisiana and retired to Seattle in the 1980’s. Paul
went to be with the Lord in 2003. Margaret lives in Covenant Shores
retirement complex on Mercer Island. She is excited that her story is
being presented to groups today.
If you would like to come, RSVP, as seating is limited. If childcare is
needed, please also let them know the number and ages of children
coming. RSVP to Heather Kreeck, 425-806-6945.
Outdoor Adventures
All Outdoor Adventure trips are open to family and friends. A great
opportunity to invite non-Christians to a non-threatening church
sponsored event!
Beginner’s Kayaking Trip to Jetty Island off of Everett - Saturday, May
18th.
See seals, eagles, and shipwrecks as we explore Everett’s waterfront
jewel. We’ll meet in Everett at 11:00 AM. Please sign up early in the
Narthex to reserve one of the limited openings. Cost is $5 per person
plus $3 parking fee. We supply the equipment, you supply the sense of
adventure. This trip is appropriate for people 5 years or older.
Dungeness Spit Kayaking-Hiking-Camping Trip - Friday-Sunday, June
14-16th,
We camp at Dungeness Recreation area near Sequim, Washington on
Friday and Saturday nights (we have some camping equipment for
newbies). On Saturday, half our group kayaks to the lighthouse at the
end of the spit while the other half hikes out (about 5 miles). Then we
switch off and the other half kayaks back while the kayakers hike back -
a full body work out in a beautiful location. Sunday we break
camp and have an outdoor worship service overlooking the Strait of Juan
de Fuca.
Afterwards for those interested, we will go see the animals at the
Olympic Game Farm. Warning, this is no zoo. You really get up close and
personal with buffaloes and other impressive animals (like Grizzly
8. Bears!). Then it’s back home on the ferry.
Cost: $20 per person (includes 2 nights camping and use of the kayaks),
plus ferry fees. Olympic game farm charges $11 per adult. This is a very
popular trip so sign up soon in the narthex. Unfortunately because of the
cost involved, we are asking people to put down a $10 deposit to reserve
your spot.
If you have questions on any of these events, please contact Bob or
Sandy Clemence at 425-486-0762.
Your generosity and community spirit allow us to provide fresh food
(milk, eggs, meat) in addition to canned goods. We are also thankful for
the generous donation of bread from Panera and Franz. An extra item or
two each shopping trip is all it takes to fill up your "cool green bag" for
pick-up every other month.
We also need monetary support, team support and Food Drive support.
