HP to Merge loss-making PSUs with HPSIDCThe HP government is planning to merge loss-making PSUs with State’s Industrial Development Corporation (HPSIDC). PSUs to be merged:
State of PSUs is not good even in Punjab. Out of total 33 PSUs working in 2009, 15 PSUs earned profit f Rs 40.24 crore while 13 PSUs incurred loses of Rs 1,630.83 crore.
Reliance Retail, plans to enter into the cash-and-carry business by opening at least three outlets in the next 6-8 months.The company's initial plan to open its stores at 15 locations, mostly Tier-II centres such as Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Rajkot and Salem.Reliance Retail’s current revenue is around Rs 4,000-crore and it expects a 25-30 per cent growth in it. Vijay Mallya’s company scraps veggie retail planVijay Mallya’s Mangalore Chemicals & Fertilizers has scrapped its Rs 500 crore ($110 million) plan to set up an Indian unit to sell fruits and vegetables.Mallya’s fertiliser company helped farmers in Karnataka improve water, soil and nutrition management to improve crop yields. It planned to buy vegetables, fruits from the producers and sell them to retailers. 
Bharti enters mobile handset businessBharti on Sunday announced its entry into the fast-growing mobile handset business as group firm Beetel launched eight handsets in the price range of Rs 1,750-7,000.  Beetel mobile phones will be available through a nationwide distribution network of over 4,000outlets across Delhi, Haryana, UP and Uttaranchal, Rajasthan, Punjab and the seven northeastern states.
Continued…….. Beetel phones will be supported by an extensive service network of 400 service centres, backed by an SMS facility for locating the service centres across six states.
Intex Technologies to foray into television segmentInformation technology devices maker Intex Technologies will enter the colour television and LCD TVs segment.The company will sell products under the 'Intex' brand which will be priced up to 10 per cent less than brands that are currently leading the market. On an average, LCDs are priced Rs 20,000 onwards, while branded TVs begin at Rs 5000. Intex currently manufacturers mobile phones, computers IT peripherals and DVD players at its three manufacturing units located in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu. The company is aiming to become a Rs 1,000 crore entity by March next year from the current Rs 600 crore.
