This document outlines the schedule and activities for Week 8 of the Community Service Engineering curriculum. The week includes face-to-face meetings in Leuven on empowerment, participation, and inclusion. Speakers will discuss topics like community development, inclusive cities, and empowering adults with autism. Students must reflect on how these topics relate to their real-life engineering projects and vulnerable stakeholders. They must also discuss with their groups how technology can promote participation, empowerment, and inclusion, and consider users' needs and inclusive design. Students will write blogs on this topic and provide feedback to each other.

participation, empowerment, inclusion for the end users or
potential vulnerable stakeholders for your ‘real life’ project.

Present your reflection note (300 words) on your Weebly

5. Group interaction Week 8
• Could technology (in general – not necessarily the end
product of your ‘real life’ project) contribute to participation,
empowerment, and inclusion of vulnerable groups? Are
you aware of what inclusive design means? Do
stakeholders for your projects have an opinion on
technology and participation/empowerment/inclusion?
What are user's needs? What are requirements for the
design? As engineers, we are often tempted to build
specific solutions. Could we approach this in a different
way? What would an inclusive solution look like?

6. Group interaction Week 8
• Find 2 relevant articles relating to this subject (the topics
as such, inclusive design, design for all). Put the articles in
the Zotero group CommunityServiceEngineering.
• Each student writes a blog on this topic, referring to the
articles; we give our fellow student(s) feedback via
comments (Blog is available on Weebly).
