- 4. Lobovault • LoboVault is UNM's Institutional Repository. It hosts scholarly publications from UNM faculty, graduate student theses and dissertations, UNM administrative records, and more.

Center for Southwest Research • The Center for Southwest Research and Special Collections (CSWR) specializes in interdisciplinary subjects relating to New Mexico, the Southwestern U.S., Mexico and Latin America, as well as rare materials from around the world. Our strengths include Native American, Chicano/Hispano, Latin American, Spanish Colonial, and environmental history, plus a wide range of locally published and archival materials documenting the region.

- 8. eBooks • eBooks come in a variety of formats from a variety of vendors! • Adobe Digital Editions, Books 24x7, EBL, ebrary, Ebsco, etc. • Many of them require the member to create a free account. • The eBook libguide is very useful when helping a member! • There can be limits on amount of an ebook that can be downloaded • Problems with links to an ebook can occur.

The Reference Interview • Be Approachable • Eye contact and friendliness goes a long way! • Clarify the question • Ask specifics and listen to the response • Search for the solution • Explain how to find the relevant resources if you feel that you can help find the resources. • Empower the customer to conduct independent research. • Follow up • Make Referrals!

- University of New Mexico is New Mexico’s flagship university. In addition to the main Campus in Albuquerque, it has several branch campuses throughout the state. UNM also has a Law and Medical School and Hospital. Each school and branch campus has their own library system. UNM University Libraries is the library system that serves main campus students. This system contains four branch library buildings and houses several departments that you will have to be aware of and be able to give directions to.

- Quick search Hours and info for all the libraries Reserve group study rooms Look up electronic and physical course material Renew library books Access to the Interlibrary Loan Office (ILL) Website Access to Databases and Special Resources (The Lobovault, Digital Collections, and others)
- Start with an open question, avoid yes/no questions, as they yield less information. Ex: “What would you like to find out about this subject?” Who is your patron? Is your patron a student, a visiting researcher, or some other type of library visitor? How can our resources help them? What have they done already to learn about their subject? Have they spoken with a Librarian? Why? Is there a specific reason the patron interested in this topic? Is this for a class? If so, are there specific requirements? What is the intended audience of the research? This will affect how the patron will access and organize their data. What aspects of the subject or question are more important? Enter search terms in order of importance. Always try multiple search terms Sometimes the stated need is not the actual need. Ask a lot of questions to better understand What they are really looking for. When?... Is there a time frame or period the patron is specifically interested in researching? Do they need information that is current or timely, such as with technology or legal topics. When is the deadline for their assignment or research to be completed? Where should you look for resources? What kind of resources is the patron looking for? Primary sources? Secondary sources? Peer reviewed sources? Something else?
