SEXUAL rEVOLUTION
15. “I wrote to you in my epistle not to
keep company with sexually
immoral people.
1 Corinthians 5:9
16. Yet I certainly did not mean with
the sexually immoral people of this
world
1 Corinthians 5:10
17. …or with the covetous, or
extortioners, or idolaters, since then
you would need to go out of the
world.
1 Corinthians 5:10
18. But now I have written to you not to
keep company with anyone named a
brother, who is sexually immoral…
1 Corinthians 5:11
19. …or covetous, or an idolater, or a
reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner
—not even to eat with such a person.
1 Corinthians 5:12
20. For what have I to do with judging
those also who are outside? Do you not
judge those who are inside?
1 Corinthians 5:12
21. But those who are outside God judges.
Therefore “put away from yourselves the
evil person.”
1 Corinthians 5:13
22. Key Principle:
We do not judge the world with
the same standard that we judge
other believers
23. Therefore concerning the eating of things
offered to idols, we know that an idol is
nothing in the world, and that there is
no other God but one.
1 Corinthians 8:4
24. For even if there are so-called gods,
whether in heaven or on earth (as there
are many gods and many lords),
1 Corinthians 8:5
25. yet for us there is one God, the Father, of
whom are all things, and we for Him; and
one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are
all things, and through whom we live.
1 Corinthians 8:5
26. However, there is not in everyone that
knowledge; for some, with consciousness
of the idol, until now eat it as a thing
offered to an idol; and their conscience,
being weak, is defiled.
1 Corinthians 8:7
27. But food does not commend us to God;
for neither if we eat are we the better, nor
if we do not eat are we the worse.
1 Corinthians 8:8
28. But beware lest somehow this liberty of
yours become a stumbling block to those
who are weak.
1 Corinthians 8:9
29. For if anyone sees you who have knowledge
eating in an idol’s temple, will not the
conscience of him who is weak be
emboldened to eat those things offered to
idols?
1 Corinthians 8:10
30. Therefore, if food makes my brother
stumble, I will never again eat meat, lest I
make my brother stumble.
1 Corinthians 8:13
31. Some things are a matter of
conscience to some, while not being a
matter of conscience to others.
Key Principle:
42. “Churches have always faced difficult moral
issues and they have muddled through.” Some
will argue that the challenge of the sexual
revolution and the normalization of
homosexuality is nothing new or unusual.
-Theo Hobson “A Pink Reformation”
43. He says, “Until quite recently I would have
agreed,” but he also says “it becomes ever
clearer that the issue of homosexuality
really is different.”
-Theo Hobson “A Pink Reformation”
44. “Something that was assumed for centuries
to be unspeakably immoral has emerged as
an alternative form of life, an identity that
merits legal protection.
-Theo Hobson “A Pink Reformation”
45. The demand for gay equality has basically
ousted traditionalist sexual morality
from the moral high ground.”
-Theo Hobson “A Pink Reformation”

“No Fault” Divorce
A law that stated a married couple
could get divorced without formally
assigning blame to one party or the
other. Divorce without “fault”.
75. The Pill:
Sex outside the marriage covenant no
longer has natural consequences
No-Fault
Divorce:
Divorce without blame leads to more
marriages dissolving
Sexuality of all kinds is everywhere
Marriages break down, society follows
78. Urbanization:
The presence of cities played a huge role how people
were influenced. Usually started in cities, worked outward
Antibiotics:
Medical technologies played a role in reducing the
effects of syphilis and other STD’s
Another consequence of sexual immorality is removed.
79. Authority:
Traditional authority structures are challenged
People are more individualistic and narcissistic
Education:
Atheism and postmodernism from the academy begin
to infiltrate popular culture
Truth is relative, to believe anything is weak
80. Weakening Families:
Parental authority and protection began to decrease.
Youth become more rebellious and disconnected
Philosophy:
Sexuality changed from being about pleasure to being
about a fundamental human right.
It is no longer about freedom. It’s about rights.
81. Media Saturation:
Hollywood becomes a megaphone for sexual immorality
The more we see it, the more normal it becomes
Churches Caving:
Churches abandoning the clear teachings of Scripture
and history to conform to the culture.
Our convictions oppose their “rights”
91. “I charge you therefore before God
and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will
judge the living and the dead at His
appearing and His kingdom:
2 Timothy 4:1
92. Preach the word! Be ready in season
and out of season. Convince, rebuke,
exhort, with all longsuffering and
teaching.
2 Timothy 4:2
93. For the time will come when they will
not endure sound doctrine, but
according to their own desires, because
they have itching ears, they will heap
up for themselves teachers;
2 Timothy 4:3
94. But you be watchful in all things,
endure afflictions, do the work of an
evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
2 Timothy 4:5
