5. Textual Analysis:
The mise en scene of the websites is very
simplistic and minimalistic. The colour theme is
very reminiscent of the chosen colours for his
album cover, This could be a way to build his
brand as certain colours are associated with
different artist (e.g Nicki Minaj and the colour
pink) also the colours used are very retro,
especially the almost wooden effect on the
navigation bar which associates to his retro
showmanship.
The font of his logo once again matches the one
he used for the album title which is another way
to build his brand as everyone has their own
individual manner of writing, this could also be
an attempt at making his brand more personal
and a way to connect with his audience.

The mise en scene in this website works
extremely well with their image. They are a
bright and bold pop band with a huge amount
of following and popularity and a massive
influence in social media which is clearly
shown by how interactive the website is. As
you can see in the 3rd pictures there's even
live tweets of their last update.
The header that occupies the entire screen
shows that their faces is their brand, they are
the biggest boyband in the world and who
ever created the website wanted to put that
message across by having the first page being
a massive picture of the band.
The 1D fans are extremely important to the
band which is clear by the amount of
interactive content the website contains and
the constant bombardment of social media
links to contact the band, with you even being
able to sign up to a One Direction newsletter.

Lana Del Rey is known for her vintage looks and
Golden age image which I think her website
represents well, there's a sort of simplicity yet
grandeur to her website. If Im honest I think
black would have been a much more affective
dominant colour to achieve that Hollywood
theme but at the same time her image is very
innocent and evangelical so the white suits that
part of her.
The fact that we have a landing page is an
attempt to make the audience feel like they are
entering new world, giving you that sense of
adventure and making the fans more excited
for her content, especially because the landing
page is an image of her brand new album
which is a great way of self promoting.
Lana Del Reys image is very important to her
career which is why her website is very picture
based. Every picture leads to another page
which I think is a extremely smart way of
having a website layout. It makes her hardcore
fans feel special because by simply clicking on
her picture they get sent around this Lana Del
Rey world.
