The James Webb Space Telescope (Webb) is the largest and most powerful space telescope ever launched, designed to study the universe in unprecedented detail, including the formation of stars, planets, and galaxies. Launched from French Guiana on an Ariane 5 rocket, Webb will spend about a month traveling to its orbit at the second Lagrange point (L2), where it will deploy its sunshield and primary mirror. Webb's capabilities will allow it to observe infrared light, enabling discoveries about the early universe and the atmospheres of exoplanets.
