The Web Science Research Week at the University of Southampton is seeking proposals for research challenges that teams can address during the week-long event in February 2014. The goals of the event are to generate new insights into issues related to the web, internet, and digital economy; build relationships between academic and industry partners; and expose students to influential figures. Example challenges mentioned include the internet availability of recreational drugs, extending economic models to account for social and cultural value on the web, and analyzing flows of cultural artifacts on eBay. Participants are invited to submit proposals or register by emailing wsi@soton.ac.uk.
