Partial Dentures
• Partial dentures are removable dental
  appliances designed to replace missing teeth
  and are commonly retained and supported
  by the remaining natural teeth.
• Retention often involves wire retention
  around the natural teeth and these wires are
  often visible.
Varieties of Partial Dentures
• Partial dentures using wire retention are the
  most common variety

• There are a number of other varieties that
  are available for patients who do not wish to
  see the wire retention.

Case #2                      Partial Denture On Casts




 This case illustrates a combination of an upper and lower partial denture.
 This case is limited. All of the posterior and anterior teeth on one side of the
  mouth are missing. This requires the placement of wire retention on the
  anterior teeth on the other side of the mouth.

 This case involves an upper denture combined with a lower partial
  denture.
 The wires used to retain the partial denture are designed to minimize
  the display of metal. The patient’s lower lip will cover the wires.

 This case combines crowns with a partial denture.
 This combination provides the opportunity to hide the retention
  mechanism.
 No wires are visible when finished.
