How can blockchain solve the social media trolling crisisBlockchain Council
Over the last decade, as social media websites like Facebook and Twitter have risen tremendously in popularity, so has the problem of so-called ‘trolls’ on such websites. Trolls are people who post inflammatory statements online in order to provoke other people and deflect attention from the actual issue.
WeChat succeeded in China due to capitalizing on user frustration with SMS, a large existing user base from QQ, regulations that blocked competitors, and its ability to quickly integrate new features. It grew to become the dominant app for messaging, payments, and other services due to its massive scale and data collection abilities. While WeChat expanded internationally, it failed to gain widespread adoption outside of China due to an inability to negotiate global partnerships, lack of localization, and not allowing continuity across other platforms. For WeChat to compete internationally in the future, it needs strategic alliances, acquisitions, opening its platform to foreign developers, and performing local customer analytics.
The document discusses reasons why Russia does not have a major online marketplace like eBay. It addresses common myths such as lack of suitable payment systems, underdeveloped logistics, low internet penetration, and lack of trust among online users. However, it argues that Russia has over 50 online payment systems, cash payments are popular, logistics are strong in major cities, internet use is growing rapidly, and trust and adoption are increasing with economic development. The key reason given is that no company has made a long-term commitment yet to building a Russian online marketplace with significant capital and relentless marketing efforts.
The document discusses facebots, which are software that impersonate real human users on Facebook to gather personal information. Facebots have three main components: a masterbot that provides instructions, client bots that interact with Facebook, and a profile database. The document outlines vulnerabilities in Facebook's registration and privacy settings that could allow facebots to send friend requests, collect user data, and look like legitimate profiles. It also discusses challenges in detecting facebots and reducing their ability to pollute social networks.

This document compares the Facebook and OpenSocial platforms for building apps, discussing their features, advantages, and user bases. A webinar I hosted on Thursday 26th October talking about the future of social media and dark data. As more customers switch to private messaging apps, brands are no longer in control.
This creates all kinds of ethical and moral challenges, not to mention the creative ones. Essentially, brands now need to provide more value than they capture. They need to give something useful BEFORE they ask for your personal details.
(85% of B2C consumer conversations in some areas are now on private messaging apps and not visible on public social networks)_.
The document discusses trends in mobile social networking and opportunities they present. Mobile SNS usage is growing rapidly as people spend more time on social media via mobile devices. This allows for real-time interaction and location-based sharing anywhere via sensors in mobile devices. As the web becomes more integrated with the real world through mobile apps and sensor data, it represents an opportunity for new forms of social computing, games, buying and selling localized based on users' locations. This mobile-focused "Web Squared" could empower people by making more data and collective knowledge accessible in real-time on the go.

Inconsistent user experience and siloed data, high costs, and changing customer expectations – Citizens Bank was experiencing these challenges while it was attempting to deliver a superior digital banking experience for its clients. Its core banking applications run on the mainframe and Citizens was using legacy utilities to get the critical mainframe data to feed customer-facing channels, like call centers, web, and mobile. Ultimately, this led to higher operating costs (MIPS), delayed response times, and longer time to market.
Ever-changing customer expectations demand more modern digital experiences, and the bank needed to find a solution that could provide real-time data to its customer channels with low latency and operating costs. Join this session to learn how Citizens is leveraging Precisely to replicate mainframe data to its customer channels and deliver on their “modern digital bank” experiences.

Dandelion Hashtable: beyond billion requests per second on a commodity serverAntonios Katsarakis
This slide deck presents DLHT, a concurrent in-memory hashtable. Despite efforts to optimize hashtables, that go as far as sacrificing core functionality, state-of-the-art designs still incur multiple memory accesses per request and block request processing in three cases. First, most hashtables block while waiting for data to be retrieved from memory. Second, open-addressing designs, which represent the current state-of-the-art, either cannot free index slots on deletes or must block all requests to do so. Third, index resizes block every request until all objects are copied to the new index. Defying folklore wisdom, DLHT forgoes open-addressing and adopts a fully-featured and memory-aware closed-addressing design based on bounded cache-line-chaining. This design offers lock-free index operations and deletes that free slots instantly, (2) completes most requests with a single memory access, (3) utilizes software prefetching to hide memory latencies, and (4) employs a novel non-blocking and parallel resizing. In a commodity server and a memory-resident workload, DLHT surpasses 1.6B requests per second and provides 3.5x (12x) the throughput of the state-of-the-art closed-addressing (open-addressing) resizable hashtable on Gets (Deletes).

WeChat Russia News: Do You Know Why Russia Blocked China’s WeChat?
June 9, 2017 Aditya Mishra Comment(0)
There are always certain rules and regulations followed in almost all the countries when it comes to the
cyberspace, social networking and messaging platforms. When there is a violation, the ultimate result of it would

be the detention of the site, network or app. It is essential for the sites to be with authentic and right information
and appropriate as well.
Today will tell You WeChat Russia News
Handy appraisal
Unfortunately, all time famous world famous messaging platform WeChat had to go through a downfall in the
recent past. Around 2 weeks back the app was been added to the watchdog of Roskomnadzor’s list in Russia. It
is clear that the site is under the list of prohibited websites.
The reason behind this sudden decision is, the firm didn’t not by the rules and regulations which have been set by
the country. WeChat is backed by the world’s 10th biggest company Tencent Holdings. A Shenzhen-based tech
company stated that they regret the fact of having the world-renowned messaging platform.
Trendy performance
WeChat is not only used for sending text messages, there are other options available on the app as well. People
have the option to make e –payments and pay their bills through the app as well. There are discussions going on
with the Russian authorities on the block which they have made with the site.
In the recent times, we can see that the site has gained an enormous amount of popularity. It has become the
most favorite platform in China, as the firm didn’t face any strong competitions from the other parts of the world.
On the other hand, we can that has its own watchdog where it has the sites blocked from its end.
Fortification aspects
There are certain sites which the country has blocked from being by the people in that region. We can list out a
few like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Line, and Pinterest. The reason for having the sites blocked
under its watchdog doesn’t seem to be strong enough though.
For the reason, Russia having the app blocked is, because the company has violated some of the technical
regulations which they have not followed in the first place. The president of China Xi Jinping has always been a
great support for creating cyber domination for all the countries.

http://gadgetsgrab.com/wechatrussia/ 3/10
It is said that China has given a helping hand to Russia to build the strong security systems, to save it from any
kind of unauthorized access to the information which is being shared on the cyberspace. And here Roskomnadzor
claims the reason for having WeChat blocked is because the company was not sharing the contact information.
That might seem to be one of the reasons, but the actual reason is something different from this one. It is
mandatory for the systems to store the user data in their systems; it is a code which needs to be followed. All the
foreign organizations should have the user data in their systems and this is something which is being followed in
China as well.
Antique stage of Russia
Previously, Russia had another professional networking site LinkedIn because they have violated this particular
which is in the technical regulations which the country is having all the foreign companies follow. It is clear that
Russia is trying to take the footsteps of China, as they have been showing dominance on the cyberspace.

While the app got blocked, there were users in Russia who were affected by it. There were complaints pouring in
from the people that it has affected that day to day life. It is a fact that, most of the users, use this particular app
to have their work done and be connected with their friends and families.
There has been a disruption in this and people were not happy with what was happening with them, when the
app got blocked. The people who lived in Russia and were Chinese were having a hard day when they realized that
the app is not working and was frustrated with that fact.
Contemporary strategy of WeChat
All these years, it was China which was at its best in blocking foreign country sites for unreasonable reasons. And
now it is happening with the country itself, they are getting to taste something which they have applied in their
own systems. It was something which the country or the form was expecting in the first place to be happening.
On 5th of May, Roskomnadzor revealed a list of websites which were prohibited for use in Russia and it was
shocking to find out WeChat was one of the sites amongst the other websites. WeChat should be able to get back
on track and have its site removed from the watchdog list, only when it abides by the rules.
Rival considerations
4. 6/10/2017 WeChat Russia News: Do you know why Russia blocked China’s WeChat?
http://gadgetsgrab.com/wechatrussia/ 4/10
It is essential for the tech
companies to register with the
servers with the user data in
Russia and it must be within
the country.
It is doubtful, even if the WeChat goes ahead and provide the information which it is being asked for, will the block
be removed? Most of the tech companies have complied with the regulations which have been set in Russia.
Last year, when LinkedIn was blocked, there were around 6 million active
users on the site. When the site realized that, the company made a clear
statement that they were not interested in doing so and that was the end
to LinkedIn in Russia. Just imagine when a user opens the app and they find
out that it is not working; it is really a frustrating factor.
Feature assessments
There are millions of people who are using the app in and out throughout their day and when they feel that they
are disconnected from the world. All they feel is stranded in a lonely desert, unable to figure out which path to
take and find a solution. When we consider what happened with LinkedIn, it is clear that the company has to
comply no matter what and there is no other go.
When Russia received a letter from LinkedIn showing no interest in its market that was the moment that they
became more intense with this aspect. It is not easy for having the foreign sites banned and blocked from their
countries. In simple words, it is a huge loss for the countries revenue from the markets in the overseas.
A recent conference in China, it was said that the country might be imposing stronger conditions in the case of
search engines. Facebook and Google have complied with Russia rules with the technical regulation of storing the
user data in the domestic servers. So far, both the companies have not come into the scrutiny.
Substitution and its future
On the other hand, we can see that LinkedIn, Uber and Airbnb have willing complied to store the data in China. It is
evident that China is world’s largest market and the companies will try their level best to have the companies in
this particular market. They are aware of the fact that it is easier to create huge revenues when one has their
business in China.
China has always been at the top in using its own products and not allows foreign products at the best. Only in a
few circumstances where the country has to rely on other countries and it has always been in the top position.
WeChat has to soon come t0 terms with Russia, to get its app working in the country all over again.
