Fun With Words: A Toolkit for Designing Great Content, FirstMichaela Hackner
During my years of agency work, I collected and created a set of content strategy games inspired by the book Gamestorming. In this session, I'll walk you through my bag of tricks, and arm you with a fun set of discovery and design tools to help you connect with your most skeptical clients and get the content right.
I gave this presentation at the 2015 UXDC conference.
Every company has a way of doing things. Once a new Xpeople joins our company we offer them a piece of advice. "Unlearn everything you know, let go. Welcome to the Future of Work"
We are Curious, Brave, Humble, we open our Big heart and mind and we really have an Xfactor. We don´t just believe in these traits and values, WE BET ON THEM.
We recruit, reward and release Xpeople based on these values.
Presentation: Hearts, Heads and Hands: How cupcakes, sidewalk chalk, and the story of a teen driver connected a CEO with his workforce and connected the workforce to the company strategy.
Presented by: Stephani Gordon, Internal Communications Business Partner to the CEO, Zurich Insurance Group
With an employee demographic that trends outside the ‘social’ scene, Zurich Insurance Group has achieved tremendous communications and engagement success by refreshing traditional marcomm channels with enticing storytelling, strong visual imagery, creative video and ‘social’ buzz. Stephani Gordon will share several executive communications project samples that include a strategy rap, a mobilization campaign built on the concept of graffiti tagging, and a CEO’s invitation to people to ‘walk away’ from their desks. This presentation is the story of coaching senior executives on what it means to connect in today’s world.
Maybe you’ve experienced some sort of “team building” activity in your past. Odds are, it was forced and awkward. Probably even boring. Yeah, we get it – we’d been through a few of those ourselves. Enough to be certain that there had to be a better way.
TeamBonding is the result. Fresh, exciting, strategically-focused fun is what clients want from us, and that’s exactly what they get.
All Together Now: Leveraging Participatory Design to Create Innovative and Us...Katie McCurdy
This workshop was presented at the Healthcare Experience Refactored conference by Susan Dybbs and Katie McCurdy.

Dusty, unused PHRs. Complex EHRs out of line with clinicians’ workflows. Clearly many of our best attempts to improve healthcare with digital tools are failing. It’s not for a lack of time or money—it is because the design of these tools is not rooted in users’ needs, behaviors, preferences, or even ergonomics. Now is the time to bring the end user back into the design process.
A Participatory Design session brings end users together to help them articulate their needs and generate solutions. When conducted throughout the design process, this method allows us to create delightful experiences that truly address user’s needs, mental models and context – and that they actually want to use.
Susan and Katie will leverage their experience as User Experience Designers and Researchers to help you get acquainted with the theory and practice behind Participatory Design. By the end of this hands-on workshop, you’ll have a good understanding of participatory design techniques; you’ll understand when participatory design is useful, and you’ll have experienced this technique first-hand as a participant. Whether your end users are patients, healthcare professionals, or administrators, you’ll walk away with the basic skills to conduct your own Participatory Design workshops.
This session is for anyone who wants to understand how to bring the end user’s voice into the design process.

The case study discusses the potential of drone delivery and the challenges that need to be addressed before it becomes widespread.
Key takeaways:
Drone delivery is in its early stages: Amazon's trial in the UK demonstrates the potential for faster deliveries, but it's still limited by regulations and technology.
Regulations are a major hurdle: Safety concerns around drone collisions with airplanes and people have led to restrictions on flight height and location.
Other challenges exist: Who will use drone delivery the most? Is it cost-effective compared to traditional delivery trucks?
Discussion questions:
Managerial challenges: Integrating drones requires planning for new infrastructure, training staff, and navigating regulations. There are also marketing and recruitment considerations specific to this technology.
External forces vary by country: Regulations, consumer acceptance, and infrastructure all differ between countries.
Demographics matter: Younger generations might be more receptive to drone delivery, while older populations might have concerns.
Stakeholders for Amazon: Customers, regulators, aviation authorities, and competitors are all stakeholders. Regulators likely hold the greatest influence as they determine the feasibility of drone delivery.
