Before you start your practice
whatever you are doing, change it.
If you are in the middle of an
activity move away and find a place
where you won't be disturbed or if
you're stretched out relaxing then
get up, move a bit and then find a
place to sit and practise.
In your p ractice p lace sit up straight but relaxed and feel
the weight of your body on the seat. This is a p hysical feeling
that you are now going to engage with, the sense of touch.
What you're aiming for is to rest in that feeling focused on
the sensation of your body touching the chair and to keep
focussed on the feeling, the sensation of the chair against
your body and give that feeling your attention for a few
seconds. If some thought comes in then you again take your
attention back to the feeling of your body and the chair.
Theres different ways of doing this and
it doesn't matter which you use, what
counts is res ting the attention in the
sensation of touch.
You can be gentle, in a nice calm relaxed
way just feeling your body s ens es , you
can be firm, force your attention on to
those senses strongly or you can fake it,
feign interest in the physical sensation.
It doesn't matter as long as you end up
with a few seconds of placing your
attention where you now want it, the
body.
When you first t ry t o move your attention away from your thoughts
it can be very difficult , even impossibly difficult. The key t o overcoming
t he difficult y is accept ance, t ake each big problem of yours and accept
it , it s exist ence, whatevers coming from it , it s cause and accept it
totally. You even embrace it.
A horrifying sickness? I accept it. What 's t he worst t hat can happen?
I die, I accept it . I choose t o be at peace wit h fate. Can't pay the
bills? I accept it. What 's t he worst t hat can happen, I accept t hat and
t ot ally, I am open t o new doors. A loved one in trouble ? I accept it
mainly because there's more likelihood of finding a solution with
accept ance than with resist ance. Someone's trying to ruin you, I
accept it , bring it on, accept ance is my first big step and I'm leaping
in. No matter how bleak your situations are or t he causes of your
situation and your fears, shout out your acceptance. And when a new
one knocks on the back of your head accept it too. And t hank the
problem for coming in because it's allowed you to pract ice acceptance,
your very first st ep t o you developing your new powerful mind
powers.
Then when you're rest ing in acceptance start on t he focusing your
attention and int erest out side your mind. Welcome t o the journey.

  • 8. Before you start your practice whatever you are doing, change it. If you are in the middle of an activity move away and find a place where you won't be disturbed or if you're stretched out relaxing then get up, move a bit and then find a place to sit and practise. In your p ractice p lace sit up straight but relaxed and feel the weight of your body on the seat. This is a p hysical feeling that you are now going to engage with, the sense of touch. What you're aiming for is to rest in that feeling focused on the sensation of your body touching the chair and to keep focussed on the feeling, the sensation of the chair against your body and give that feeling your attention for a few seconds. If some thought comes in then you again take your attention back to the feeling of your body and the chair.

  • 10. Theres different ways of doing this and it doesn't matter which you use, what counts is res ting the attention in the sensation of touch. You can be gentle, in a nice calm relaxed way just feeling your body s ens es , you can be firm, force your attention on to those senses strongly or you can fake it, feign interest in the physical sensation. It doesn't matter as long as you end up with a few seconds of placing your attention where you now want it, the body.

  • 13. When you first t ry t o move your attention away from your thoughts it can be very difficult , even impossibly difficult. The key t o overcoming t he difficult y is accept ance, t ake each big problem of yours and accept it , it s exist ence, whatevers coming from it , it s cause and accept it totally. You even embrace it. A horrifying sickness? I accept it. What 's t he worst t hat can happen? I die, I accept it . I choose t o be at peace wit h fate. Can't pay the bills? I accept it. What 's t he worst t hat can happen, I accept t hat and t ot ally, I am open t o new doors. A loved one in trouble ? I accept it mainly because there's more likelihood of finding a solution with accept ance than with resist ance. Someone's trying to ruin you, I accept it , bring it on, accept ance is my first big step and I'm leaping in. No matter how bleak your situations are or t he causes of your situation and your fears, shout out your acceptance. And when a new one knocks on the back of your head accept it too. And t hank the problem for coming in because it's allowed you to pract ice acceptance, your very first st ep t o you developing your new powerful mind powers. Then when you're rest ing in acceptance start on t he focusing your attention and int erest out side your mind. Welcome t o the journey.
