The Temple of the Reclining Buddha at Wat Pho houses a large reclining Buddha figure and was constructed during the reign of Rama III. It contains several notable structures including four large stupas dedicated to the first four Chakri kings, a rock garden with 26 decorative hills and figures, and Chinese ballast figures brought from mainland China. The main hall houses the reclining Buddha and several levels of Buddha images.

42 meters high. These four chedi are
dedicated to the first

tiles mosaic, dedicated for himself.

was built by Rama IV to praise the
Lord Buddha.

7. • Khao Mor, (Model Hill) or rock garden
with decorative plants. King Rama III
created 24 gardens/hills around the
monastery.
• There're 26 of them, some are
adorned with stone figures, lamp posts
and trees.

“Yokee” or hermits in the posture of
YoGa-exercise or the self-massage.

9. The main hall used for performing Buddhist rituals. It was constructed by
King Rama I in the Ayuthaya style, and later enlarged and reconstructed in
the Rattanakosin style by Rama III. This building is raised on a marble
platform and enclosed by a double cloister. The Ubosot is enclosed by a low
wall called Kamphaeng Kaew.

11. PHARABIENG
The ordination hall is enclosed on all four sides by double-rowed
galleries. All along the walls of the two galleries are lined with
altogether 394 bronze Buddha images. These Buddhas figures, some
standing and some seated, are evenly mounted on matching gilded
pedestals.

12. PHA PRANG
There are four towers, or Phra
Prang. Each of the towers is tiled
with marbles and contains four
Khmer-style statues which are the
Guardian Divinities of the Four
Cardinal Points.

13. PHRA MONDOB
Phra Mondob, or Hor Trijaturamuk,
is the Scripture Hall built in the
reign of King Rama III with a
crowned, gabled roof tetrahedron,
which elaborated with multi-
coloured Chinese ceramic.

Phra Vihara Tid or Four
Directional Viharas are
situated in four directions;
East, West, North and
South.

this hall was built in Ayudhya.
The principal Buddha image of
Wat Phodharam named “Phra
Buddha Sassada” was once ens
hrined here. There was also a
mural painting about hells and
twelve demons.
