Benefits Of Multi Method And Longitudinal Methods
5.4Limitations
There are some potential limitations of this study. Firstly, given the qualitative approach was used
in the research, the data was based on the interviewees and observer s subjective social construction.
It helps to understand interviewees experience in specific situation, however, it needs caution when
interpreting the findings and generalizing findings. Observations were employed at the beginning
of data collection. Because of limited time and quantity, it is treated as supplementation of
interviews and provides limited information. Semi structure interviews as major data collection
method rely heavily on the interviewees memory and stories happened at some point before. It
would benefit future study if multi method and longitudinal methods are used.
Secondly, the investigation was based on data from small sample. Eight participants are from the
same university and all of them are postgraduate students. Therefore, the size and the variety of
sample may limit the possibility of generalization.
Thirdly, the traits and behaviours the findings mentioned do not constitute exhausted list.
Demographics and other external elements were less or not discussed. However, it is difficult to
avoid this limitation. An additional quantitative method could be used in future for providing
supplementary insights of larger variables of elements.
Last but not least, as a novice, research may loss some useful information due to unsophisticated
interview skills and research

Social Criticism Of The White Tiger
This paper focuses on the subaltern community in the post colonial society. Adiga s The White
Tiger throws a ray in the downtrodden and oppressed in the modern world. Adiga being the mouth
piece of the deprived, lonely and alienated section of the society through his character Balram. He
represents Balram as the white tigerwhich is the rare kind of animal who has the matchless
intellectuality being born in the dark side of India. For Adiga Darkness refers to the oppressed
community which is the majority in india and lightas the so called well to do in the society. The
aim of the paper is to bring into focus the major section of people in India who are the have nots.

I wonder what s the point of living. I really wonder...
The point of living? My heart pounded The point of your living is that if you die, who s going to
pay me three and a half thousand rupees a month? After being corrupted Balram tries to cheat his
master Mr. Ashok and he finds that he can make more money when not being faithful. He becomes
the spendthrift. It s amazing. The moment you show cash, everyone knows your language.
According to Balram Money is the key to all doors. He believed in this philosophy Let animals live
like animals; let humans live like humans. That s my whole philosophy in a sentence. But his
philosophy of life cannot happen in the India of Light.
In the old days there were one thousand castes and destinies in India. These days, there are just
two castes: Men with Big Bellies, and Men with Small Bellies. And only two destinies: eat or get
eaten up.
To conclude the paper Adiga talks about the haves are the bright side of the India and the have
nots are the dark side of the India. The haves are longing for the life of the have nots and vice

Mystery:
To My Dearest Lucasia
When readers reflect on the poetry of the seventeenth century, poets such as John Donne and the
Metaphysicals, Jonson and the Cavaliers, and John Milton often come to mind. The poetry crosses
over
various boundaries of Neoplatonic, Ovidian, and Petrarchan forms, for example, often with many
references to women filling the lines. Described as helpless creatures, seventeenth century women
were
often shut out from all possibilities of power, and they were generalized into four categories: virgins,
women to be married, married, and widowed. In the state of marriage, women were forced to be the

In her essay, Rich expresses [t)hat the
argument will go on whether an oppressive economic class system is responsible for the oppressive
nature of male/female relations, or whether, in fact, patriarchythe domination of males is the original
model of oppression on which all others are based (35). Rich further develops this point by
suggesting
that 11[r]e vision the act of looking back, of seeing with fresh eyes, of entering an old text from a
new
critical direction is for women more than a chapter in cultural history: it is an act of survival (35).
When reading Philips in light of Rich s essay, the reader realizes that Philips was writing for re
vision
long before the concept was coined by the critic. According to Rich, Until we can understand the
assumptions in which we are drenched we cannot know ourselves. And this drive to self knowledge,
for
women, is more than a search for identity: it is part of our refusal of the selfdestructiveness of
male dominated society (35). Apparent in Philips alterations of Donne s metaphors is this drive to
self knowledge. Although her poems do not outwardly attack Donne, for that would seem
hypocritical, Philips clearly responds to the fact that there were all those poems about women,

Democracy And Democracy
Introduction
The relationship between economic growth and democracy has long been discussed and dissected
ever since the beginning of the French Revolution and the democratization of Europe through the
18th and 20th centuries with various revolutions occurring, mostly in revolt to the overt dominance
of the upper classes. Yet, no concrete answer has been defined on whether democracydirectly
increases economic growth, or that any non democratic systems are strictly better at growing an
economy. In this paper, there will be an examination of how despite no concrete definite answers
about the correlation between democratic regimes and economic prosperity/growth exist,
democracy still heavily encourages and enables for a maximized economic growth compared to
totalitarian or monarchical regimes, through some main principles that define a democratic regime:
Rule of law, legitimate authority, quality of governance, and participation of citizens, by means of
humane work conditions, equal participation among classes, governance motivating the workforce,
and less effort and money expunged towards legitimacy. Economic growth shouldn t necessarily
come before democracy as democracy facilitates and potentially maximizes economic growth.
Participation and Opportunity
One of the qualifiers for democracy, active participation of citizens in political and civic life
(United Nations[UN], 2005), is necessary for a prosperous marketplace for all industries which
have production in control of

Rationalism
Rationalism In Plato s Meno it begins with a debate between a fictional Socrates and Meno about
whether virtue can be taught or if it is acquired in another way. Socrates begins to prove his point
when he asks the slaves about the geometry question. When the slave answers the question,
Socrates suggests to Meno that they inquire this together. Meno argues with his Meno s Paradox
that, one logically cannot inquire productivity into what one does not already know (Meno 58).
Then Socratescontinues to make Meno question his own beliefs when the slave recognizes the
answer to geometrical problem. Socrates proceeds to confirm with the concept that the sole is
immortal and the slave was recollecting knowledge that the soul already had.... Show more content

Descartes goes through valid and well thought out arguments to come to find realizations. He
concentrates on knowledge rather than action. In the Third Meditation, Descartes continues to
introduce the idea that God is innate. Descartes introduces the role of God in the Third Meditation.
He suggests that you can use your intuition, but you can t use time or senses. Descartes uses the
teleological argument to show innate things. It consists of teleological intuition which has two
caused principles. One is that everything has a cause with at least as much reality as it has itself.
The other principle is that everything with objective reality has a cause with formal reality.
Objective realities are things like images and ideas, and formal reality is the kind of reality it has
by virtue. There are infinite and finite substances which are both types of formal reality. Finite
substances cause properties, but the properties depend on the finite substances for their existence,
but infinite substances don t depend on anything at all. There are certain standards the infinite and
finite substances must have to have an idea of an idea mind such as, God. Through this argument,
Descartes is trying to introduce the idea that God is innate. Descartes and Plato s arguments all did
come to the conclusion that knowledge was an innate. Both philosophers believe that you can come
to realizations of the truth. Plato believes that you have the concept to begin with

Transvestitism Essay
Transvestitism
In the last few decades, there has been a rapid change in social attitude towards so called sexual
problems. There has been a call for the freedom to live in the style of which one chooses, so long
as no one else is harmed in the process. One area that appears little understood, however, is
transvestitism, or cross dressing. In order to gain some knowledge about this phenomenon, there are
many aspects of transvestitism that should be examined, some being: history, societal views, the
gay versus straight issue, and women dressing as men.
Transvestitism has a long history, ranging from mythical figures to medieval saints who cross
dressed; from the many instances of berdache in anthropological literature to historical ... Show

Why, then are most cross dressers secretive about their affection for this? According to Dr. Peggy
Rudd (1995), most are secretive, because they have many fears related to the consequences of
having their big secret discovered. In general, non participants do not consider transvestitism,
socially acceptable. Many cross dressers fear the detrimental effects upon other family members,
and many are concerned about the possibility of losing their job as a result of coming out.
Some cross dressers feel guilty because society has placed them into stereotypes, including the
incorrect assumption that all cross dressers are gay, or that all transvestites are potential
transsexuals. To the contrary, while some are gay, most cross dressers want to share their life with
a woman, and the number of gay males is far less among crossdressers than among the general
population (Rudd, 1995). Most identify primarily as a male who has, and retains, male gender
identity. Often they are married, and the father of children. (Prince, 1971) This in itself presents
the question of whether or not to tell spouses, and/or, their children about this. Many do not, out
of fear of being seen as deviant, and perhaps losing those most dear to them. It is a natural thing
for cross dressers to want to share all of themselves with those they love, but as there is risk of
rejection, many choose to wait until they feel comfortable that the risk has lessened, or keep it a
secret forever.

Education and America
Are Teachers Responsible? In his article Kenneth Cole Gets Schooled David Sirota writes, Taking
an honest look at America s education system brings up queries about why other less economically
stratified nations have unionized teachers and far better academic results than here in America
(761) Students in other countries such as Korea, Finland, Japan, the Netherlands, and Canada have
far better academic results than those in America, yet the teachers are not the one who need to be

In some countries throughout the world kids are put on tracks dependent upon their careers; some
get to go further in the education system than others. Often times these career tracks are ones
chosen for them based upon the family they were born into and their parents wealth and
educational knowledge. Some countries even do inventory tests in order to place students on a
track and decide if they get to continue in education or if they are required to go straight into the
work force. One point Carlos Xabel Lastra AnadГіn and Paul E. Peterson bring up in their article is
that while we need to learn from countries such as Korea, Finland, Japan, the Netherlands, and
Canada we must not copy exactly what they are doing but more so do what is best for our
educational system (1.) I agree with the point they have made, I do not believe we should
implement all of the educational ideas these countries have. I believe this because like America s
educational system their systems have flaws as well. But instead we should learn from their
mistakes and apply and implement them into our own system as needed. In doing this step I believe
we can make our educational system more successful and proficient in comparison with these
countries.
Furthermore, I think in America the freedom and availability we have here in America has allowed
us as students to become

Racism In The Grandmother
In this short story a family of six plus a cat are going on vacation. The grandmother wanted to go
to Tennessee but everyone else wanted to go to Florida. Driving in the car on a very long drive to
Florida they stopped and seen many things that the Grandmother recalled in her head. This is why
the whole familyended up in a serious situation. The grandmother is mysterious old woman, who is
racist, not smart, and much conceded that caused a problem along the way.
Growing up in the early 1950 s people were know to be racist but grandmother took it too far with
her comments. Driving down the road with the family and the grandma makes a racist comment,

The grandmother wanted to make sure if she died, people would recognize her. All the family
was dressed in t shirts and pants for the car ride to Florida but the grandmother had on a navy
blue straw sailor hat with a bunch of white violets on the brim and a navy blue dress with a small
white dot in the print. Her collars and cuffs were white organdy trimmed with lace and at her
neckline she had pinned a purple spray of cloth violets containing a sachet (368). This just shows
that the grandmother cares about her appearance and what others think about her. It almost
makes it seems like she planned this whole thing in her head. When she was having a
conversation with the misfit she asked, You wouldn t shoot a lady, would you? (373). The
grandmother seems like she only cares for safety right now and not anyone else s. As the
grandmother, she should be trying to protect her family instead she s protecting her own life. The
grandmother got her own family in a terrible situation because of one bad memory. She probably
did feel really guilty about the situation but what else could she of done? The moral of the story
sometimes it takes a tragic thing to happen to find out who someone really is. The family never

Pamphlet In The Writings Of Thomas Paine
In Writings of Thomas Paine we learn that Thomas Paine published Common Sense in the late
1700 s. 1776 to be exact, and it was printed on a 47 page pamphlet. Pamphlets were usually used
in England to spread religious or political idea. They were often known as an early form of
protest in literature. A lot of times pamphlets were able to reach a wide audience or regular
people in just a short amount of time which made them a valuable literary form. However, they
had more benefits than just that. They were easy to print, so it would be easy for the publisher to
produce more. They were cheap, so almost anyone could purchase them. They were made brief, so
that they could be read aloud in public places making sure that anyone who could not read

Donald Trump s View On Immigration
President elect Donald Trump launched his presidential bid discussing immigration reform. Strict
immigration policies quickly became the forefront of his campaign and he says it will also be the
focus of his first 100 days in office. A look at the evolution of Trump s immigration plan reveals
simply a feeble attempt to appear more presidential and diplomatic rather than an actual evolution of
thought or even an attempt to be realistic.
When Mexico sends its people, they re not sending their best. ... They re sending people that have
lots of problems, and they re bringing those problems with us. They re bringing drugs. They re
bringing crime. They re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people, Trump said in his
announcement speech in June ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Crimes committed by illegal immigrants are significantly less than the figures he has presented and
serve only to instill fear in Americans and legitimize the ignorance of his attacks.
Trump continues to embolden rather than chastise his base by demonizing immigrants and
refugees. His exaggeration of these numbers and persistence in using them even after they have
been proven false is a tactic to mobilize support for strict immigration by instilling fear in
Americans and saying that they are bad people and that they are the enemy. His election led to
cheers of build the wall at his ____ and reports of immigrants and Americans of foreign descent
being told to go home soared.
As the media and the nation continue the process of normalizing the inevitable Donald Trump
presidency and its policies, his dangerous rhetoric cannot be ignored. While he is historically
unqualified and unlike any United States president in recent history, there must be a level of
accountability for the words of an American

Essay On Little Rock Nine
Little Rock Nine On September 25, 2017, former President Bill Clinton opened the doors of
Little Rock High School in Arkansas for the 40th reunion of the Little Rock Nine. Forty years
ago, the desegregation of the school shook the nation. Nine African American teenagers decided
to take a stand and do the unimaginable. Melba Pattillo Beals, Minnijean Brown, Elizabeth
Eckford, Ernest Green, Gloria Ray Karlmark, Carlotta Walls LaNier, Thelma Mothershed, and
Terrence Roberts were the tenacious students that helped force integration across the south,
spun on the Civil Rights movement, and helped change the attitudes of millions. They wanted
to show that they were equal, that the color of their skin does not define who they are. The task
was far from easy, but if it wasn t for the courage, and strength of these nine students, who knows
what the world would be like today. Many segregated schools that the black teens were forced to
attend were overcrowded, run down, and were not provided with books or supplies in good
shape. Conversely, the schools for the white students were in better condition, and had newer
book and supplies (Bubar 2).The local leader of the NAACP (National Association for the
Advancement of Colored People), Daisy Bates decided to prove a point. She wanted to give the
not only the black students but all blacks just as many privileges and luxuries as the white. She was
much older than the students and had seen how blacks had got treated in the past and has seen
many monumental actions such as Rosa Parks sitting on the bus. She used her platform to be a
voice, her Husband and her owned the top African American newspaper offices in America and they
stood up for the blacks that would never be heard, or get their voice out. She knew bundles upon
bundles were getting mistreated and not getting their equal rights. Bates recruited nine black
students to enroll at Central High, she thought that having kids do this would have more of an
impact than an adult would, maybe the whites would be more considerate or think that something
in society is wrong if children are having to do something about it. The nine students that she
selected were the brightest, most kind hearted kids, they

Muslim Women s Rights Today
There are approximately one billion people worldwide that follow the Islamic way of life. Islam
is the religion of Allah, and Muhammad his last prophet. They refer to themselves as Muslims.
There are many rules for the daily life of Islam. These rules are found in the Qur an, which is
their guidebook. Muslims cannot do anything that may be considered harmful to their body, mind,
or soul, which is also known as haram. For example, eating pork is not allowed, nor is lying,
stealing, or cheating. Muslims are encouraged to do what is beneficial, this is known as halal.
Popular culture portrays Muslim women as not having many rights and privileges. Islamdoes
however give women rights which include the right to be educated, work outside of the home
and to inherit wealth. Family is considered very important in Islam and obligations to other
family members are strongly stressed. It is very common for extended family members to all
live together in the same house. Muslim women are allowed to participate in public life as long
as their modesty is not affected. They are expected to wear Hijab, or covering, so that their
sexuality will not be a source of temptation for men. Their rights, as in all cultures and
communities over time, are often violated. As the Muslim empire grew, the role of women
changed as well. Muslim men and women were originally seen as equal. The prophet s teachings
proclaimed the equality of men and women before God and in Islamic worship.

Deformation of this tissue results in depolarization of the neuron.
Both light touch and deep pressure are fast adapting senses. The bulb of connective tissue is
involved with adaptation. When deformation of these receptors first occurs, there is a burst of
electrical activity. If the stimulus is sustained, the bulb then mechanically adjusts to it, and allows
the sensory nerve to repolarize. The effect is loss of sensation. As soon as the pattern of
deformation changes, the neuron immediately depolarizes again. The overall effect is to increase
sensitivity to changes in the pattern of physical contact (touch) with the environment.
Observations to make:
Look at the photo of a Meissner s corpuscle in the book, and locate the receptor. Observe the nerve
fibers within the capsule (bulb). Notice how they are arranged parallel to the skin surface. Describe

Nordstrom vs. JCPenney
Introduction On paper, there might not seem much difference between a JC Penney and a
Nordstrom. Both are department stores, so they carry roughly the same merchandise categories.
They are large, and act as anchors in shopping malls all over America. The shopping experience
is actually not that much different between them. Yet, there are subtle differences for those who
are willing to search for them. The differences tend to relate to our concept of social class
distinctions. Massey (2007) notes that all human societies have a social structure that divides
people into categories based on a combination of achieved and ascribed traits (p.1). Obviously,
we make use of groupings like gender, race and religion, but less explored is the degree to which
we use social stratification. Ehrenreich (2001) recounts the story of her journey into the social
underclass, starting in the Florida Keys. Florida is a highly stratified society, with a concentration
of high wealth individuals who choose to live in the state for things like weather and proximity to
the ocean, and low wealth individuals whose role is primarily to serve the upper classes. Thus,
money is one of the more important sources of social stratification in American society. In today s
political discourse, this stratification is framed as the 99% and the 1%, but in reality that framing is
overly simplistic. Those within America s middle class occupy a different social stratification than
those who occupy the lower

In the research there are three key points that will support the research question. The questions are
what are the effects of cosmetic surgery in the society and the effect on a person s mental health. It
also discusses the reason why women seek cosmetic change.
Cosmetic surgery is a branch of surgery that focuses on changing a person s aesthetic appearance.

The Black Ham And The Redemption Plan
THE BLACK HAM IN THE REDEMPTION PLAN
The black people of Ham have being chosen as God s vessels to bring hope to the hopeless world
right from the beginning of creation. The offspring s of the four sons of Ham, has played very
important roles throughout human history. Before the existence of humanity, God had chosen the
land of Ham as an important place to fulfil His redemptive plans. The chosen people of Israel was
born in the land of Canaan and Egypt and called out from the land of Africa Egypt, after they have
become great, mighty, and populous nation (Deuteronomy 26:5; Ezekiel 16:1 3, 45; Hosea 11:1).
When the children of Israel left the land of Egypt, they inherited the land of Canaan the younger
brother of Egypt (1 Chronicles16:16 20). Thousands of years later, Jesus was born in Bethlehem of
Judaea in the land of Canaan (Micah 5:2; Matthew 2:1). When He was about to be assassinated
as a child, He was then protected and sheltered in Africa Egypt, the land of the elder brother of
Canaan. Later Jesus was called out from Africa Egypt, to be the savior of the world (Matthew
2:13 15). Not only was Jesus born in the land of Canaan, during His life time, He had only lived
in the land of Egypt as a child and spent all His natural life in the land of Canaan the brother of
Egypt and Ethiopia throughout His adulthood (Genesis 10:6). The Bible never told us that Jesus
have lived, gone or visited anywhere else other than these two Hamitic nations.

Cholera And The Plague Epidemic Analysis
Modern usage of epidemic to politicise or instil with urgency an agenda has made the term too
broad to define, but this quasi metaphorical use of the word represents a new diversity in its
definition. Epidemics create a window from which the social historian has access to both the
complexities of human nature and the political arenas that control and disseminate information : an
insight to political, cultural, religious and social life that in other circumstances may elude the
chroniclers of the past. There is no categorical, empirical or quantifiable rule in defining epidemics;
instead they are subject to a series of accepted truisms that they have both a start and an end, that
they elicit large social response, that they fragment... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There has been a tendency to study epidemics with harsher symptoms and higher chances of death
under the assumption that these fragment society and culture more than mild epidemics like
influenza. The main example of this would be the countless studies of Cholera and the Plague, the
former of which took the lives of fifty per cent of its victims with intense rapidity (in nineteenth
century Britain: healthy in the morning, dead in the evening ), the latter imposing a mortality rate
as high as forty seven per cent (in the case of Newcastle 1636). However, the modern usages of the
word do not always fit into this model. The epidemic of obesity for example is a medical topic,
which has been termed an epidemic by using current social dissatisfaction as much as effect on
mortality. Rosenberg deconstructs disease stating that it is a specific repertoire of verbal
constructs reflecting medicine s intellectual and institutional history , which would accept that
obesity is a disease. His statement that an epidemic is an event, not a trend, in need of a
common dramaturgy, a beginning and an end, and a mobilisation of community to reaffirm
social values , does not allow for the classification of obesity as an epidemic. Here, it seems that
epidemic has been motivated by society rather than by a medical profession, making a definition
yet more abstract; both Hansen on homosexuality and MacDonald on suicide show that the
political, religious, social and cultural setting can cause a medicalisation of a behavioural issue.
This in turn can expand the ways in which we use the term epidemic: the medicalisation of
homosexuality and suicide share themes common in definitions of epidemics: both elicit a social
response, both are used to advance a political agenda, reveal areas of the social fabric which do not
appear clearly in everyday life , and both have

Jealousies In The Crucible
From The Crucible and my own experience there have been some types of jealousies, selfish
ambitions, and peer pressures, etc. They are both the same from the story and into real life
experience. So let s start with The Crucible there is a lot going on in there because there is
proctor and elizabeth and abigail and more there is jealousies and more. And in my life
experience there has been the same thing like friend. From the author Victor Hugo he explained
on society is a republic. Well it s referring from the crucible where everyone in the story was in a
part of jealousies. In my own life i ve seen that there are people who have been jealous and prue

abigail gets jealous of Elizabeth because proctor kept choosing her over abigail. Oh, I marvel
how such a strong man may let such a sickly wife be Abigail ( angered at himself as well). You ll
speak nothin of Elizabeth! in which proctor didn t like her talking about his wife like that
because he loves her but Abigail loved Proctor and she didn t want him with Elizabeth. There is a
part of selfish were abigail goes against tituba saying that tituba made her do things with

Essay about Anti-Depressants and Teen Suicide
Abstract Two percent of preteens and five percent of adolescents suffer from depression
(www.about teen depression.com 2014). There are specific signs and symptoms associated with
depression, which are helpful in detection of the illness. There are various ways to treat depression,
such as medication, group therapy, and/or herbal supplements. There are pros and cons with each
treatment, but the worst coincides with the medication suicide. Much research has been conducted,
which will be discussed in the paper that has shown a link to antidepressants and suicide. However,
there is also evidence that the suicide rate could be decreased with proper diagnosis and early,

There are still several options for treatment that you must choose from, as well as having to deal
with side effects that accompany each treatment. Of all the treatments, antidepressants tend to have
the most side effects. Some of the side effects common to all three types of antidepressants are:
anxiety, vomiting, confusion, chest pain, blurred vision, irritability, insomnia, sexual dysfunction,
weight gain, headache, and nervousness (Cheung et al. 2003, Vanderkooy et al. 2002). Some other,
more severe, side effects are difficulty urinating, decreased appetite, heart complications, and
suicide (Simon and Stern 2003 Review). It is the last side effect, suicide, which has recently
caused some controversy within the medical field. With recent research showing a correlation
between antidepressants and suicide, as well as the FDA ordering warning labels for suicide on
antidepressant medication, physicians have to be careful prescribing the drugs, especially to
children and adolescents.
Statistics show suicide to be the third leading cause of death among 13 19 year olds, with
approximately 6000 suicide deaths each year (Dickinson 1999). Because of statistics like this, the
National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) researchers are vying to find interventions to help
prevent suicide among children and adolescents. However, until then, the best prevention appears to
lie in early diagnosis

What s more, the primary goal is to make customers satisfied, however, the way to check if
customers are satisfied is not direct enough, so they should find out some direct measures. The
company tried to use its six area method to speculate customer satisfaction, especially based on
the call back rate. This way is kind of indirect, if the company wants to know their customer
satisfaction, what about just ask their customers? In the case, when the IMMULITE 2000 is
going into work, the company was sometimes able to solve a problem before a customer was even
aware that it existed. This way is a direct way: solve the problem before a customer aware, and then
the customer would be happy about that.

If not, why not?
DPC could not use action control or personnel/cultural control instead of using a results control

Action control is more specific than result control. It focuses on the process of the whole thing
while result control is focuses on the result. To use action control, it is difficult for managers to

Deviance And Social Control Book Report
For many years deviant behavior and social control have been a common topic of discussion.
The book Deviance and Social control by Michelle Inderbitzin, Kristin Bates and Randy Gainey,
gives readers a greater outlook on the relationship between deviance and social control. When
someone acts or behaves in a way that is different from what is considered as a norm or an
accepted social standard, it is known as deviance. For example, this explains when people join
gangs, or even become murderers. Objectively given conception of deviance is when everyone
agrees to general set of norms; this means everyone agrees to a particular norm and conditions of
society. However, the objectively given conception of deviance applies to gang members that
murder because murdering someone is viewed as a deviant behavior in society, and is viewed as
unacceptable. Disciplinary actions that take place when... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Formal social control includes all sorts of processing by the criminal justice system, such as parole,
probation, imprisonment, fines, and hospitalization in a rehabilitation facility or mental institution.
At the age of 25 or older violent criminals should be sentenced to jail for the rest of their lives, and
those under 25 years of age should be incarcerated for 20 years. In this new version of social control
inmates that were arrested for murder would not receive commissary throughout their entire
sentence, and they should not be near the other populations. The death penalty should not be
acceptable in any states no matter what illegal behavior caused the offender to be imprisoned. The
inmates rap sheet should play a major part into their indictment as well. There should be a
counseling program for the inmates so that they can understand what they have done, the factors
that lead to that outcome, and most importantly coming to acceptance of ones

Human African Trypanosomiasis is a disease sweeping across the Sub Saharan Africa. Until recent

College Pressures By William Zinsser
Students Facing Obstacle During College Life
During the college life students have to deal with different types of obstacles. In the article,
College Pressures William Zinsser focuses on the pressure faced by the college students. He talks
about how the students are dealing with economic pressure, parental pressure, peer pressure, and
self induced pressure. College students are worried about getting high paid jobs and being rich
instead of relaxing and enjoying now. Zinsser claims that students are worried about their future by
using pathos.
According to Zinsser, one of the pressure students has to face in the college is economical. Pathos
have been used by the author to make the reader feel that how students are dealing with economic
problems. Student with scholarship are very safe and doesn t have to worry about an economic

Just to pay for the college, students have to work during the weekends or whenever there is a free

colleges are getting rich. But they are equally battered by inflation. Tuition covers only 60% of

Six Stages Of Denialing In Hills Like White Elephants By...
In Hills like white elephants we identify six stages of human grief regarding to dying, and loss:
denial; isolation; anger; bargaining; depression and finally acceptance. Hemingway apparently
innate understanding and dramatization, of these stages of grief.
The first thing that comes to mind during the stages of Hill Like White Elephants was denial. There
are many significant ways that denial has been portrayed throughout the novel. When we go
further into details about the title of the story is explains it all of what we are expecting HIlls .
The first thought before I began to read the story was the title I began to realize that this story
will have moments it ups, and down. Those ups and downs lead into a problematic figure of
denial between the main antagonist Jig. While reading Novel from start to finish Jig has been
denied from the reality of life. I have come to a conclusion of this when secondly, the American
as came has an attachment to her life as her husband. Noticing further into her life I have seen a
lot of negatives, mostly because The American summarizes their relationship together. In the
book the girl looks off the hills of a line of hills and describes how they look like white elephants.
In page 182 she says I ve never seen one, the man drinks his beer. This show the grief of tension and

Michael Kimmel s Impact Of The Media On Men
Impact of the Media on Men When boys are young they are told to toughen up or to stop acting
like a girl when they are sad or want to cry. Michael Kimmel, author of Bros Before Hos : The
Guy Code, discusses how there is a code guys are supposed to follow and how being taught
natural behaviors, such as crying or talking about emotions, are wrong at a young age negatively
impacts boys for their whole life. Emily Smith, the author of Life on the Island, talks about how a
decrease in places that have a feelingof community increases the suiciderate among men. Everyone
tells boys to act a certain way their father, coach, even people they don t know, but this is not the
only place they hear these negative statements. Television and magazine advertisements often depict
men in an unrealistic way that feels unachievable and because of this young boys who view these
ads feel negatively about themselves and because of the guycode they can t share their feelings and
emotions which can lead to depression or even suicide. Almost everyone is exposed to
advertisements when they are children. Ads are everywhere and they make people feel a
certain way towards what they are trying to sell even if the people involved feel unaffected. Ads
are supposed to do this and can make their audience feel happy, but there is a chance that they
will do the opposite. Many ads make men feel like they are not strong or tough enough. A study
done on the effects of media images from magazines on the body and self Esteem said, Men s
Health and GQ both focus primarily on men s bodies and send very overt messages about what
men should look like. Therefore, it may be very easy for men who read these magazines to feel
as though they do not measure up (Hobza, Cody L., et al. 168). Ads in magazines or on tv don t
usually show men crying or talking about their emotions with their friends because that is
something men are not supposed to do; instead ads show them being strong, tough, and emotionally
stable. When guys or advertisements make other guys feel like they are not good enough or strong
enough, they have to deal with it themselves because they don t want to be emasculated by their

Abstract:
Toll like receptor 4 (TLR 4) plays important roles in innate immunity. Changes in the reduction
oxidation balance of tissues can lead to a pro inflammatory state and insulin resistance. An action
thought to be mediated by TLRs. Omega 3 fatty acids and Peroxisome Proliferator Activated

of this study is to investigate the anti diabetic effects of combining omega 3 fatty acid with
pioglitazone on type 2 diabetes, and the modulating effects on TLR 4. Type 2 diabetes was
induced in male Sprague Dawley rats by combination of high fat diet and low dose streptozotocin
(35 mg/kg). Diabetic rats were treated with omega 3 fatty acids (10% W/W diet), pioglitazone (20

Department Of Homeland Security Essay
Trepanier p.1 Thesis: The Department of Homeland Security operates with a Code of Conduct
for all Federal Protective Service employees. DHS must maintain the mission of safety and
security of the nation and its citizens, while balancing their civil and privacy rights. Federal
property has access control for the public during normal operating hours and secured access for
after hours. Signs are posted on federal property stating rules and regulations for the public to
adhere to; failure to comply can result in civil and criminal penalties by both the state and the
federal government. A single offense can incur state misdemeanor charges, followed by federal

Protecting civil and privacy rights are critical to establishing a unified environment of trust
between the public and Federal Protective Service employees. Ethical practices help to provide
stability for organizations in a rapidly changing and increasingly complex world. (Geale, 2012,
p.458). Changes are sent in DHS with management directives, often in response to a new threat.
The public questions why a process has changed with no direct details, and often get frustrated or
feel that their rights are being infringed upon. DHS employees have to remain vigilant with their
duties to preserve the mission and ensure that only those who have clearance on a need to know
basis are informed about management directives. In June 2003, the Department of Justice released
the Guidance Regarding the use of Race by Federal Law Enforcement Agencies to define racial
profiling. The use of race has been an issue in the law enforcement, aviation security, border
policing, intelligence gathering, and national security matters remains a constant issue in homeland
security. (Sutherland, 2005, p.293). Law enforcement cannot use race as a guideline for conducting
investigations, or for something as routine as a traffic stop. Probable cause must be established or

Descriptive Essay On Home Sweet Home
Home Sweet Home
Everyone dreams about buying his or her dream house; I lost my dream house, twice. When my
girlfriend Izzy and I began house searching, it was a whirlwind of excitement. This was our first
hunt in the real estate market, and we were ready to close in on the perfect first house. Suddenly
we were staying up into the late hours of the night, cuddled in bed, endlessly searching for houses
on Zillow. Throw pillows, dishes and pictures began to jump off the shelves at us in every store we
entered. We anxiously imagined every aspect of what we wanted in our house. The rush of chasing
down the ideal house and making it our home was thrilling, yet short lived.
We were set on a modern ranch style dwelling, farmhouse style for her, and a large garage for me.
One day our real estate agent called and exclaimed she tracked down a house that met every
bullet point on our checklist, and that we should meet her immediately to view it. The home
had a large southern style front porch, new rustic bamboo wood floors, and all white cabinets.
The open and light build was perfect for Izzy. Around the side of the house was a two car garage
complete with a custom peg wall for tools and built in shelving. Not much further around the
house was the back yard, large and completely fenced in. The storage and build was perfect for
me. We knew this was our house; it had to be.
As we were standing in the center of the bare living room, our real estate agent s phone began to
ring. We

Espionage In Chronicle Of A Death Foretold By Gabriel...
Espionage has always been a crucial part of any war s success. It is vital to know what the
enemy is planning to do and when they plan to execute their plans. This vital need has always
caused the need for spies to conduct the espionage on enemies. However, the information that the
spies collected was only as valuable as the amount of trust placed on a spy. A spy can gather
information on enemies plans and report back to their boss, but if the boss does not trust the spy it
could cause vital information to go unnoticed or not receive the proper urgency. These doubts
about notes and letters are not limited to spymasters alone, many everyday citizens rely on the
letters and notes of others. In his novel Chronicle of a Death Foretold, Gabriel GarcГa MГЎrquez
uses letters and notes written between characters as a metaphor to represent the doubts the
characters have about the information they are receiving. In order to better understand MГЎrquez s
metaphor the letters Angela receives from her mother about San Roman, the letters returned to
Nasar by his fiancГ©e, and the letters written to San Roman from Angela can all be further
examined. In the first letter sent to Angela at school, MГЎrquez illustrates a mysterious new man
who has arrived in town The strange man is called Bayardo San Roman, and everybody says he s
enchanting, but I haven t seen him. (Page 15). The strange man is called Bayardo San Roman, and
everybody says he s enchanting, but I haven t seen him.

EXPOSITORY Tourists are rejecting the traditional holiday vacations in favour of experiencing
different places and activities. Why might this be?
Family vacations used to be the go to trip for any given time to travel, but as generations advance
the destinations of holiday vacations have evolved alongside society. The mindset of the world
today has caused people to reject traditional holiday vacations for new experiences. These new
experiences can range anywhere from going to exotic places like Jamaica to Greece to just
staying home. There is a reason for all of this change, such as the lack of financial stability, the
increase in technology and social media, and different kinds of people with their diverse views.
Traveling is expensive, and financial issues have begun to cause the downfall of most vacations.
People cannot afford to go and see their family, so they stay home on vacations known as
staycations. These staycations are a new experience for a lot of people because they are not going
anywhere on their vacation time, which is unusual for them. One reason for this is that student
loans have gone up tremendously in recent years and before people can worry about going on
vacation, they must pay back these debts. These loans can last a lifetime, and instead of worrying
about them forever they postpone their vacations, so

Aum Shinrikyo Religious Group Case Study
The 1995 Sarin Attacks on the Japanese Subway System by Aum Shinrikyo exposed the need of
improving the Japanese Intelligence database, emergency management and training for emergency
services.
On March 20, 1995 at approximately 0600 hours, members of the Aum Shinrikyo religious group
launched one of the most deadly attacks Japanese citizens had seen since WWII. The attacks were
conducted by members of the Aum Shinrikyo religious group lead by Shoko Asahara, who was the
founder of the religious group. The members of Aum Shinrikyo were targeting mass casualties to
show their dissatisfaction with the Japanese Government. Five members of the Aum Shinrikyo
religious group managed to conduct the attack by depositing Sarin, which is a nerve agent,
classified as a weapon of mass destruction. (Chemical weapons 101: Six facts about sarin and Syria
s stockpile), into plastic bags and covering them with newspapers to avoid unwanted attention, then
they transported them into different trains, attempting to kill as many people possible. After the
members of Aum Shinrikyo religious group entered into the trains, they dropped the plastics bags to
the ground and managed to make holes in the plastic bags with the tip of umbrellas they were
carrying, then they exited the car. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Scarcity Of Water Essay
Leonardo da Vinci said, Water is the driving force of all nature. Most people will acknowledge
this statement because water is necessary for both life and good health. Water is an essential
ingredient of life not only for humans but also for the animals with which we share the world
and the environment that sustains our presence. This is the most pressing global issue because
when water is no longer safe to use, or is polluted, this causes problems in many other areas, such
as with general health and hygiene, child mortality, and the environmental stability for the
farming and ranching industries. According to the United Nations, forty percent of the world s
population is a victim of water scarcity, and the number is rising, which is why more recently
this issue has become prominent with the media internationally. In the end, water is how our
world survives, and when its purity is in jeopardy, so is the stability of our world. While it is
easier for someone who lives in America to see the localized water related problems in this
country, such as the droughts in California and the Flint, Michigan water quality crisis, clean
water is a worldwide issue and a preventable one. Many impoverished people must live with
unclean water due to neglect of this problem by their governing political bodies. The United
Nations reports 1,000 children dying every day from diseases caused by unclean water and
sanitation issues that are avoidable with reasonable improvements. When the

Sonnet 130 Analysis Essay
The explication of Sonnet 130 When you think of a sonnet from Shakespeare s time, you think of
a lovey, mushy poem about how the love the writer has for one. Sonnet 130, written by William
Shakespeare, totally goes against the typical sonnets of the time. Shakespeare s Sonnet 130 was
written in the early 1600s. Though it was written in this time, it was not like the rest of the sonnets.
Most of the sonnets at this time were modeled after Petrarch s famous sonnetsequence. He idolized
and idealized his mistress, named Laura. In his sonnets, he praises her beauty, her worth, and her
perfection using metaphors based on natural beauties. While these metaphors had already become a
clichГ©, they were still the accepted technique for... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is also the possibility that she is of a darker race. In line four, he compares her hair to
black wires, which is not as flattering. Black is also not a color found in nature, but the absence
of light. Which also signifies sadness, darkness, and evil. In the past, men set a high value on
women s hair; it was a sign of femininity and beauty. Moving to the second quatrain which states,
I have seen roses demasked, red and white, / But no such roses see I in her cheeks;/ And in some
perfumes is there more delight/ Than in the breath from my mistress reeks. First, the reader
starts with an explicit I , which means he is only talking for himself and his mistress. In lines
five and six, the speaker does not see the red and white roses in her cheeks. Both colors were
already used, which means that neither the noble white or passionate red, are found in her. Roses
are also a sign of love and passion. The smell of the mistress is described in lines seven and eight.
The idea that reek and stink are the same thing did not develop until a century later. The mistress
breath was not as pleasant as some perfumes. Perfume was an expensive and worthy object, but
can be a pleasant smell in nature too. The last quatrain states, I love to hear her speak, yet well I
know/ that music hath a far more pleasing sound;/ I grant I never saw a goddess go;/ My mistress
when she walks treads on the

Such Is My Beloved Identity Essay
People are confident in their beliefs and core values, however, the pressure of society can cause
doubt and ultimately, change their way of thinking. Due to the impact of society, an identity crisis
occurs when values are challenged. Morley Callaghan s captivating novel, Such Is My Beloved,
illustrates the deterioration of Father Stephen Dowling s identity through society s influence and
the uncertainty in his values. Society has the power to alter beliefs, values, and attitudes.
The role that Father Dowling has in society influences his values and identity. To progress society,
the courage to take risks is crucial. Father Stephen Dowling is a young man who [is] apt to attack

Relationships that are not traditionally accepted result in negative consequences. Father Dowling
blindly goes into making a relationship with two street walkers without even thinking about the
consequences. The society he lives in does not see prostitutes as humans with rights. Father
Dowling felt more love for them than for any one he had known in his parish, a curious, new love
that gave him a strange contentment (18). He feels a new emotion when he meets these two
girls and since he feels a strange contentment, he could potentially be feeling a fleshy love,
instead of a divine love. He keeps fooling himself into thinking that his love is just divine, but he
is hesitating on which type of affection he is giving to the girls. The relationship between a
priest and two prostitutes will not be accepted within their society and leads to many negative
consequences. In addition, the loss of rationality in decision making is an effect of radical shifts
in opinion. Father Dowling convinces himself that the girls need his love the most because no
one loves them for who they are. He decides to continue to help them and has a different opinion
on what the church believes to be correct. He only focuses on the girls and their well being and
completely forgets to send money to his mother who is also deserving of his love and support. He
is becoming irrational with the choices he is making because his opinion is

  • 2. Benefits Of Multi Method And Longitudinal Methods 5.4Limitations There are some potential limitations of this study. Firstly, given the qualitative approach was used in the research, the data was based on the interviewees and observer s subjective social construction. It helps to understand interviewees experience in specific situation, however, it needs caution when interpreting the findings and generalizing findings. Observations were employed at the beginning of data collection. Because of limited time and quantity, it is treated as supplementation of interviews and provides limited information. Semi structure interviews as major data collection method rely heavily on the interviewees memory and stories happened at some point before. It would benefit future study if multi method and longitudinal methods are used. Secondly, the investigation was based on data from small sample. Eight participants are from the same university and all of them are postgraduate students. Therefore, the size and the variety of sample may limit the possibility of generalization. Thirdly, the traits and behaviours the findings mentioned do not constitute exhausted list. Demographics and other external elements were less or not discussed. However, it is difficult to avoid this limitation. An additional quantitative method could be used in future for providing supplementary insights of larger variables of elements. Last but not least, as a novice, research may loss some useful information due to unsophisticated interview skills and research ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Examination of Women s Friendships through an Analysis of Katherine Philips Friendship s Mystery: To My Dearest Lucasia When readers reflect on the poetry of the seventeenth century, poets such as John Donne and the Metaphysicals, Jonson and the Cavaliers, and John Milton often come to mind. The poetry crosses over various boundaries of Neoplatonic, Ovidian, and Petrarchan forms, for example, often with many references to women filling the lines. Described as helpless creatures, seventeenth century women were often shut out from all possibilities of power, and they were generalized into four categories: virgins, women to be married, married, and widowed. Rich further develops this point by suggesting that 11[r]e vision the act of looking back, of seeing with fresh eyes, of entering an old text from a new critical direction is for women more than a chapter in cultural history: it is an act of survival (35). • 7. Democracy And Democracy Introduction The relationship between economic growth and democracy has long been discussed and dissected ever since the beginning of the French Revolution and the democratization of Europe through the 18th and 20th centuries with various revolutions occurring, mostly in revolt to the overt dominance of the upper classes. Yet, no concrete answer has been defined on whether democracydirectly increases economic growth, or that any non democratic systems are strictly better at growing an economy. In this paper, there will be an examination of how despite no concrete definite answers about the correlation between democratic regimes and economic prosperity/growth exist, democracy still heavily encourages and enables for a maximized economic growth compared to totalitarian or monarchical regimes, through some main principles that define a democratic regime: Rule of law, legitimate authority, quality of governance, and participation of citizens, by means of humane work conditions, equal participation among classes, governance motivating the workforce, and less effort and money expunged towards legitimacy. Economic growth shouldn t necessarily come before democracy as democracy facilitates and potentially maximizes economic growth. Participation and Opportunity One of the qualifiers for democracy, active participation of citizens in political and civic life (United Nations[UN], 2005), is necessary for a prosperous marketplace for all industries which have production in control of ... Socrates begins to prove his point when he asks the slaves about the geometry question. When the slave answers the question, Socrates suggests to Meno that they inquire this together. Meno argues with his Meno s Paradox that, one logically cannot inquire productivity into what one does not already know (Meno 58). Then Socratescontinues to make Meno question his own beliefs when the slave recognizes the answer to geometrical problem. Descartes goes through valid and well thought out arguments to come to find realizations. He concentrates on knowledge rather than action. In the Third Meditation, Descartes continues to introduce the idea that God is innate. Descartes introduces the role of God in the Third Meditation. He suggests that you can use your intuition, but you can t use time or senses. Descartes uses the teleological argument to show innate things. It consists of teleological intuition which has two caused principles. One is that everything has a cause with at least as much reality as it has itself. The other principle is that everything with objective reality has a cause with formal reality. Objective realities are things like images and ideas, and formal reality is the kind of reality it has by virtue. There are infinite and finite substances which are both types of formal reality. Finite substances cause properties, but the properties depend on the finite substances for their existence, but infinite substances don t depend on anything at all. There are certain standards the infinite and finite substances must have to have an idea of an idea mind such as, God. Through this argument, Descartes is trying to introduce the idea that God is innate. Descartes and Plato s arguments all did come to the conclusion that knowledge was an innate. • 9. Transvestitism Essay Transvestitism In the last few decades, there has been a rapid change in social attitude towards so called sexual problems. There has been a call for the freedom to live in the style of which one chooses, so long as no one else is harmed in the process. One area that appears little understood, however, is transvestitism, or cross dressing. In order to gain some knowledge about this phenomenon, there are many aspects of transvestitism that should be examined, some being: history, societal views, the gay versus straight issue, and women dressing as men. Transvestitism has a long history, ranging from mythical figures to medieval saints who cross dressed; from the many instances of berdache in anthropological literature to historical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Why, then are most cross dressers secretive about their affection for this? According to Dr. Peggy Rudd (1995), most are secretive, because they have many fears related to the consequences of having their big secret discovered. In general, non participants do not consider transvestitism, socially acceptable. Many cross dressers fear the detrimental effects upon other family members, and many are concerned about the possibility of losing their job as a result of coming out. Some cross dressers feel guilty because society has placed them into stereotypes, including the incorrect assumption that all cross dressers are gay, or that all transvestites are potential transsexuals. To the contrary, while some are gay, most cross dressers want to share their life with a woman, and the number of gay males is far less among crossdressers than among the general population (Rudd, 1995). Most identify primarily as a male who has, and retains, male gender identity. Often they are married, and the father of children. (Prince, 1971) This in itself presents the question of whether or not to tell spouses, and/or, their children about this. Many do not, out of fear of being seen as deviant, and perhaps losing those most dear to them. It is a natural thing for cross dressers to want to share all of themselves with those they love, but as there is risk of rejection, many choose to wait until they feel comfortable that the risk has lessened, or keep it a secret forever. Often times these career tracks are ones chosen for them based upon the family they were born into and their parents wealth and educational knowledge. Some countries even do inventory tests in order to place students on a track and decide if they get to continue in education or if they are required to go straight into the work force. One point Carlos Xabel Lastra AnadГіn and Paul E. Peterson bring up in their article is that while we need to learn from countries such as Korea, Finland, Japan, the Netherlands, and Canada we must not copy exactly what they are doing but more so do what is best for our educational system (1.) I agree with the point they have made, I do not believe we should implement all of the educational ideas these countries have. I believe this because like America s educational system their systems have flaws as well. But instead we should learn from their mistakes and apply and implement them into our own system as needed. In doing this step I believe we can make our educational system more successful and proficient in comparison with these countries. • 14. Essay On Little Rock Nine Little Rock Nine On September 25, 2017, former President Bill Clinton opened the doors of Little Rock High School in Arkansas for the 40th reunion of the Little Rock Nine. Forty years ago, the desegregation of the school shook the nation. Nine African American teenagers decided to take a stand and do the unimaginable. Melba Pattillo Beals, Minnijean Brown, Elizabeth Eckford, Ernest Green, Gloria Ray Karlmark, Carlotta Walls LaNier, Thelma Mothershed, and Terrence Roberts were the tenacious students that helped force integration across the south, spun on the Civil Rights movement, and helped change the attitudes of millions. They wanted to show that they were equal, that the color of their skin does not define who they are. The task was far from easy, but if it wasn t for the courage, and strength of these nine students, who knows what the world would be like today. Many segregated schools that the black teens were forced to attend were overcrowded, run down, and were not provided with books or supplies in good shape. Conversely, the schools for the white students were in better condition, and had newer book and supplies (Bubar 2).The local leader of the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People), Daisy Bates decided to prove a point. She wanted to give the not only the black students but all blacks just as many privileges and luxuries as the white. She was much older than the students and had seen how blacks had got treated in the past and has seen many monumental actions such as Rosa Parks sitting on the bus. She used her platform to be a voice, her Husband and her owned the top African American newspaper offices in America and they stood up for the blacks that would never be heard, or get their voice out. She knew bundles upon bundles were getting mistreated and not getting their equal rights. Bates recruited nine black students to enroll at Central High, she thought that having kids do this would have more of an impact than an adult would, maybe the whites would be more considerate or think that something in society is wrong if children are having to do something about it. The nine students that she selected were the brightest, most kind hearted kids, they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. Muslim Women s Rights Today There are approximately one billion people worldwide that follow the Islamic way of life. Islam is the religion of Allah, and Muhammad his last prophet. They refer to themselves as Muslims. There are many rules for the daily life of Islam. These rules are found in the Qur an, which is their guidebook. Muslims cannot do anything that may be considered harmful to their body, mind, or soul, which is also known as haram. For example, eating pork is not allowed, nor is lying, stealing, or cheating. Muslims are encouraged to do what is beneficial, this is known as halal. Popular culture portrays Muslim women as not having many rights and privileges. Islamdoes however give women rights which include the right to be educated, work outside of the home and to inherit wealth. Family is considered very important in Islam and obligations to other family members are strongly stressed. It is very common for extended family members to all live together in the same house. Muslim women are allowed to participate in public life as long as their modesty is not affected. They are expected to wear Hijab, or covering, so that their sexuality will not be a source of temptation for men. Their rights, as in all cultures and communities over time, are often violated. As the Muslim empire grew, the role of women changed as well. Muslim men and women were originally seen as equal. The prophet s teachings proclaimed the equality of men and women before God and in Islamic worship. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As soon as the pattern of deformation changes, the neuron immediately depolarizes again. The overall effect is to increase sensitivity to changes in the pattern of physical contact (touch) with the environment. • 19. Nordstrom vs. JCPenney Introduction On paper, there might not seem much difference between a JC Penney and a Nordstrom. Both are department stores, so they carry roughly the same merchandise categories. They are large, and act as anchors in shopping malls all over America. The shopping experience is actually not that much different between them. Yet, there are subtle differences for those who are willing to search for them. The differences tend to relate to our concept of social class distinctions. Massey (2007) notes that all human societies have a social structure that divides people into categories based on a combination of achieved and ascribed traits (p.1). Obviously, we make use of groupings like gender, race and religion, but less explored is the degree to which we use social stratification. Ehrenreich (2001) recounts the story of her journey into the social underclass, starting in the Florida Keys. Florida is a highly stratified society, with a concentration of high wealth individuals who choose to live in the state for things like weather and proximity to the ocean, and low wealth individuals whose role is primarily to serve the upper classes. Thus, money is one of the more important sources of social stratification in American society. In today s political discourse, this stratification is framed as the 99% and the 1%, but in reality that framing is overly simplistic. • 21. The Black Ham And The Redemption Plan THE BLACK HAM IN THE REDEMPTION PLAN The black people of Ham have being chosen as God s vessels to bring hope to the hopeless world right from the beginning of creation. The offspring s of the four sons of Ham, has played very important roles throughout human history. Before the existence of humanity, God had chosen the land of Ham as an important place to fulfil His redemptive plans. The chosen people of Israel was born in the land of Canaan and Egypt and called out from the land of Africa Egypt, after they have become great, mighty, and populous nation (Deuteronomy 26:5; Ezekiel 16:1 3, 45; Hosea 11:1). When the children of Israel left the land of Egypt, they inherited the land of Canaan the younger brother of Egypt (1 Chronicles16:16 20). Thousands of years later, Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the land of Canaan (Micah 5:2; Matthew 2:1). When He was about to be assassinated as a child, He was then protected and sheltered in Africa Egypt, the land of the elder brother of Canaan. Later Jesus was called out from Africa Egypt, to be the savior of the world (Matthew 2:13 15). Not only was Jesus born in the land of Canaan, during His life time, He had only lived in the land of Egypt as a child and spent all His natural life in the land of Canaan the brother of Egypt and Ethiopia throughout His adulthood (Genesis 10:6). • 22. Cholera And The Plague Epidemic Analysis Modern usage of epidemic to politicise or instil with urgency an agenda has made the term too broad to define, but this quasi metaphorical use of the word represents a new diversity in its definition. Epidemics create a window from which the social historian has access to both the complexities of human nature and the political arenas that control and disseminate information : an insight to political, cultural, religious and social life that in other circumstances may elude the chroniclers of the past. There is no categorical, empirical or quantifiable rule in defining epidemics; instead they are subject to a series of accepted truisms that they have both a start and an end, that they elicit large social response, that they fragment... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There has been a tendency to study epidemics with harsher symptoms and higher chances of death under the assumption that these fragment society and culture more than mild epidemics like influenza. The main example of this would be the countless studies of Cholera and the Plague, the former of which took the lives of fifty per cent of its victims with intense rapidity (in nineteenth century Britain: healthy in the morning, dead in the evening ), the latter imposing a mortality rate as high as forty seven per cent (in the case of Newcastle 1636). However, the modern usages of the word do not always fit into this model. The epidemic of obesity for example is a medical topic, which has been termed an epidemic by using current social dissatisfaction as much as effect on mortality. Rosenberg deconstructs disease stating that it is a specific repertoire of verbal constructs reflecting medicine s intellectual and institutional history , which would accept that obesity is a disease. His statement that an epidemic is an event, not a trend, in need of a common dramaturgy, a beginning and an end, and a mobilisation of community to reaffirm social values , does not allow for the classification of obesity as an epidemic. Here, it seems that epidemic has been motivated by society rather than by a medical profession, making a definition yet more abstract; both Hansen on homosexuality and MacDonald on suicide show that the political, religious, social and cultural setting can cause a medicalisation of a behavioural issue. This in turn can expand the ways in which we use the term epidemic: the medicalisation of homosexuality and suicide share themes common in definitions of epidemics: both elicit a social response, both are used to advance a political agenda, reveal areas of the social fabric which do not appear clearly in everyday life , and both have ... Of all the treatments, antidepressants tend to have the most side effects. Some of the side effects common to all three types of antidepressants are: anxiety, vomiting, confusion, chest pain, blurred vision, irritability, insomnia, sexual dysfunction, weight gain, headache, and nervousness (Cheung et al. 2003, Vanderkooy et al. 2002). Some other, more severe, side effects are difficulty urinating, decreased appetite, heart complications, and suicide (Simon and Stern 2003 Review). It is the last side effect, suicide, which has recently caused some controversy within the medical field. With recent research showing a correlation between antidepressants and suicide, as well as the FDA ordering warning labels for suicide on antidepressant medication, physicians have to be careful prescribing the drugs, especially to children and adolescents. Objectively given conception of deviance is when everyone agrees to general set of norms; this means everyone agrees to a particular norm and conditions of society. Michael Kimmel, author of Bros Before Hos : The Guy Code, discusses how there is a code guys are supposed to follow and how being taught natural behaviors, such as crying or talking about emotions, are wrong at a young age negatively impacts boys for their whole life. Emily Smith, the author of Life on the Island, talks about how a decrease in places that have a feelingof community increases the suiciderate among men. Everyone tells boys to act a certain way their father, coach, even people they don t know, but this is not the only place they hear these negative statements. Television and magazine advertisements often depict men in an unrealistic way that feels unachievable and because of this young boys who view these ads feel negatively about themselves and because of the guycode they can t share their feelings and emotions which can lead to depression or even suicide. Almost everyone is exposed to advertisements when they are children. Ads are everywhere and they make people feel a certain way towards what they are trying to sell even if the people involved feel unaffected. Ads are supposed to do this and can make their audience feel happy, but there is a chance that they will do the opposite. Many ads make men feel like they are not strong or tough enough. A study done on the effects of media images from magazines on the body and self Esteem said, Men s Health and GQ both focus primarily on men s bodies and send very overt messages about what men should look like. Therefore, it may be very easy for men who read these magazines to feel as though they do not measure up (Hobza, Cody L., et al. 168). Ads in magazines or on tv don t usually show men crying or talking about their emotions with their friends because that is something men are not supposed to do; instead ads show them being strong, tough, and emotionally stable. When guys or advertisements make other guys feel like they are not good enough or strong enough, they have to deal with it themselves because they don t want to be emasculated by their friends and family. • 44. Descriptive Essay On Home Sweet Home Home Sweet Home Everyone dreams about buying his or her dream house; I lost my dream house, twice. When my girlfriend Izzy and I began house searching, it was a whirlwind of excitement. This was our first hunt in the real estate market, and we were ready to close in on the perfect first house. Suddenly we were staying up into the late hours of the night, cuddled in bed, endlessly searching for houses on Zillow. Throw pillows, dishes and pictures began to jump off the shelves at us in every store we entered. We anxiously imagined every aspect of what we wanted in our house. The rush of chasing down the ideal house and making it our home was thrilling, yet short lived. We were set on a modern ranch style dwelling, farmhouse style for her, and a large garage for me. One day our real estate agent called and exclaimed she tracked down a house that met every bullet point on our checklist, and that we should meet her immediately to view it. The home had a large southern style front porch, new rustic bamboo wood floors, and all white cabinets. The open and light build was perfect for Izzy. Around the side of the house was a two car garage complete with a custom peg wall for tools and built in shelving. Not much further around the house was the back yard, large and completely fenced in. The storage and build was perfect for me. We knew this was our house; it had to be. As we were standing in the center of the bare living room, our real estate agent s phone began to ring. We ... • 45. Espionage In Chronicle Of A Death Foretold By Gabriel... Espionage has always been a crucial part of any war s success. It is vital to know what the enemy is planning to do and when they plan to execute their plans. This vital need has always caused the need for spies to conduct the espionage on enemies. However, the information that the spies collected was only as valuable as the amount of trust placed on a spy. A spy can gather information on enemies plans and report back to their boss, but if the boss does not trust the spy it could cause vital information to go unnoticed or not receive the proper urgency. These doubts about notes and letters are not limited to spymasters alone, many everyday citizens rely on the letters and notes of others. In his novel Chronicle of a Death Foretold, Gabriel GarcГa MГЎrquez uses letters and notes written between characters as a metaphor to represent the doubts the characters have about the information they are receiving. In order to better understand MГЎrquez s metaphor the letters Angela receives from her mother about San Roman, the letters returned to Nasar by his fiancГ©e, and the letters written to San Roman from Angela can all be further examined. In the first letter sent to Angela at school, MГЎrquez illustrates a mysterious new man who has arrived in town The strange man is called Bayardo San Roman, and everybody says he s enchanting, but I haven t seen him. Summer Exam 2016 Lauren Bilkis, Shelbie Charley, Yasmyn Collazo, Taylor Mazur AICE General Paper/Bilous Winter Exam 2016 Inquiry Research 19 December 2016 EXPOSITORY Tourists are rejecting the traditional holiday vacations in favour of experiencing different places and activities. Why might this be? Family vacations used to be the go to trip for any given time to travel, but as generations advance the destinations of holiday vacations have evolved alongside society. The mindset of the world today has caused people to reject traditional holiday vacations for new experiences. These new experiences can range anywhere from going to exotic places like Jamaica to Greece to just staying home. There is a reason for all of this change, such as the lack of financial stability, the increase in technology and social media, and different kinds of people with their diverse views. Traveling is expensive, and financial issues have begun to cause the downfall of most vacations. People cannot afford to go and see their family, so they stay home on vacations known as staycations. These staycations are a new experience for a lot of people because they are not going anywhere on their vacation time, which is unusual for them. One reason for this is that student loans have gone up tremendously in recent years and before people can worry about going on vacation, they must pay back these debts. These loans can last a lifetime, and instead of worrying about them forever they postpone their vacations, so ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 49. Scarcity Of Water Essay Leonardo da Vinci said, Water is the driving force of all nature. Most people will acknowledge this statement because water is necessary for both life and good health. Water is an essential ingredient of life not only for humans but also for the animals with which we share the world and the environment that sustains our presence. This is the most pressing global issue because when water is no longer safe to use, or is polluted, this causes problems in many other areas, such as with general health and hygiene, child mortality, and the environmental stability for the farming and ranching industries. According to the United Nations, forty percent of the world s population is a victim of water scarcity, and the number is rising, which is why more recently this issue has become prominent with the media internationally. In the end, water is how our world survives, and when its purity is in jeopardy, so is the stability of our world. While it is easier for someone who lives in America to see the localized water related problems in this country, such as the droughts in California and the Flint, Michigan water quality crisis, clean water is a worldwide issue and a preventable one. Many impoverished people must live with unclean water due to neglect of this problem by their governing political bodies. The United Nations reports 1,000 children dying every day from diseases caused by unclean water and sanitation issues that are avoidable with reasonable improvements. When the ... Sonnet 130, written by William Shakespeare, totally goes against the typical sonnets of the time. Shakespeare s Sonnet 130 was written in the early 1600s. Though it was written in this time, it was not like the rest of the sonnets. Most of the sonnets at this time were modeled after Petrarch s famous sonnetsequence. He idolized and idealized his mistress, named Laura. In his sonnets, he praises her beauty, her worth, and her perfection using metaphors based on natural beauties. Moving to the second quatrain which states, I have seen roses demasked, red and white, / But no such roses see I in her cheeks;/ And in some perfumes is there more delight/ Than in the breath from my mistress reeks. First, the reader starts with an explicit I , which means he is only talking for himself and his mistress. In lines five and six, the speaker does not see the red and white roses in her cheeks. Both colors were already used, which means that neither the noble white or passionate red, are found in her. Roses are also a sign of love and passion. The smell of the mistress is described in lines seven and eight. The idea that reek and stink are the same thing did not develop until a century later. The mistress breath was not as pleasant as some perfumes. Perfume was an expensive and worthy object, but can be a pleasant smell in nature too. Father Dowling blindly goes into making a relationship with two street walkers without even thinking about the consequences. The society he lives in does not see prostitutes as humans with rights. Father Dowling felt more love for them than for any one he had known in his parish, a curious, new love that gave him a strange contentment (18). He feels a new emotion when he meets these two girls and since he feels a strange contentment, he could potentially be feeling a fleshy love, instead of a divine love. He keeps fooling himself into thinking that his love is just divine, but he is hesitating on which type of affection he is giving to the girls. The relationship between a priest and two prostitutes will not be accepted within their society and leads to many negative consequences. In addition, the loss of rationality in decision making is an effect of radical shifts in opinion. Father Dowling convinces himself that the girls need his love the most because no one loves them for who they are. He decides to continue to help them and has a different opinion on what the church believes to be correct.
