5. Corridor Study for North Carolina State
Highway 24
The Marine Corp Base Camp Lejeune dominates the south
side of the State Highway 24 corridor. The north side of
the corridor is an older commercial thoroughfare in need
of aesthetic, land use, and safety updates. This study
focuses on how these factors interact with travel in the
corridor and provides solutions for better integrating
transportation with land uses. Working with the Marine
base, local, state and federal government officials and
regulations.

8. City of Griffin, Town Center LCI Study
Atlanta Regional Commission’s Livable Centers Initiative
(LCI) is intended to promote greater livability, accessibility,
mobility and development in existing and emerging
employment centers, town centers and corridors. The
rationale is that by directing development towards areas
with existing infrastructure this will benefit the region and
minimize sprawling land use patterns. Project included a

Seawolf Park, a seaside park, sustained substantial damage
from Hurricane Ike. Working with state and federal
agencies accessing the damage, establishing priorities for

Plan
The CDC-Chamblee Campus Master Plan is a
comprehensive site plan that draws its
inspiration from the natural environment of
the site itself. The establishment of an overall
direction for site development within the
master plan was emphasized in the design
process in order to ensure a strong unified
campus identity. The Master Plan addresses
multiple uses, security, development priority,
funding, and facility planning. The challenge
of the master plan process was the knitting of
existing buildings, new construction, both
office and industrial uses, and future
development into a cohesive campus.

Streets Master Plan
Creating and managing the Collector & Green
Streets Plan for the Jacksonville region.
Developing sustainable street environments
managing stormwater on an onsite level while
reducing Total Suspended Solids (TSS) in
surface runoff for its collector streets. Plan
includes a street right-of-way, a variety of
design and operational systems, providing
treatment for storm water while giving priority
to pedestrian and bicycle circulation and open

14. NIOSH Pittsburgh Campus-CDC
A comprehensive master plan addressing
current campus needs for the new National
Personal Protective Technology Laboratory as
well as determining a sustainable direction for
the future. The initial stages of the master
plan process included an evaluation of the
Master Plan Drivers Report, an inventory of
existing site and operational conditions and
an assessment of campus needs that included
research, industrial, and warehouse facilities. A
key component of the planning process was
facilitating on-campus workshops and
developing a campus vision and a set of
guiding principles. The outcome of the
process was the development of a master
plan that enhanced perceptions, created an
efficient facilities plan, increased security, and
improved access.

15. Inland Port Master Plan and
Industrial Site Plans
Analysis and site planning for potential inland
port, or similar facility, in the mountain region
of western North Carolina. The study
examined various freight data sources
(including PIERS, FAF, Global Insight, carload
waybill samples); profiled inland port facilities
and logistics operations nationwide; and
summarized regional shipping trends through
interviews with local manufacturers. A unique
component of the study is the feasibility
analysis that seeks to strike a balance between
common freight data indicators and local

16. Judaculla Rock Park Master Plan
Judaculla Rock Park contains one of the oldest petroglyphs
in the eastern United States and is one of the most
significant cultural landforms for the Eastern Band of the
Cherokee Indians. The goal of the master plan was to
Restore the natural resources of the site and establish a
management plan. A key component was facilitating
consensus-building workshops with the National Parks
Service, Cherokee Indians, activists, environmentalists,
archeologists, and scientists creating a plan to preserve the
site. The site plan vision contains a strong interest in
preserving the rock by restoring historic stormwater flows
and grades to reduce or eliminate sedimentation deposits
around the rock.

A 20 year ongoing relationship developing
