  4. VOICEOVER: these are just a handful of the types of companies advertising on Escape and other job boards, who are doing things differently. What do we mean by ‘forward-thinking’? It can mean different things to different organisations, but it’s about people and meaning being at the heart of things: "The greatest competitive advantage is to allow your employees to be part of something bigger than what you're doing" - Blake Mycoskie, TOMs “The best businesses are really ones that can combine passion, profits, and purpose.” - Tony Hsieh, Zappos FIND ONE MORE
  5. Resources like Upwork are available Programmes like Remote Year And it’s being built into workplace norms in orgs like Buffer

Showing the very real possibilities of: - location independence - flexible working - starting up - doing work that’s meaningful and impactful and still making money - doing multiple jobs/projects - being accepted and supported in doing something out of the ordinary Basically, it’s very possible, and it’s not a hardship. The role models and resources are all there. Exposure to this means the idea of ‘normal’ is starting to follow suit.
  7. ASK THE ROOM. Some suggestions: EVOLVING ASPIRATIONS changing definitions of success? EXPONENTIAL TECHNOLOGY changing the way we work? INSTITUTIONAL CHALLENGES changing the way we organise ourselves?
  8. Buffer: Radical Transparency Buffer are a real thought leader in this space, they have a blog documenting all of their efforts to create a 21st Century work environment. They have completely done away with a permanent office (granted they are relatively small team, but an interesting move nonetheless) and have an auto cc for any email sent between two Buffer employees, as well as having completely transparent salaries.
