Service Tax Voluntary Compliance Encouragement Scheme (VCES)
The Government of India, in the interest of revenue, introduced an amnesty scheme for the taxpayers in
the Finance Bill, 2013.which is popularly known as Service Tax Voluntary Compliance Encouragement
Scheme (VCES) w.e.f 10th
May, 2013. The objective of this Scheme is to encourage disclosure of tax
dues and compliance of service tax law by the persons who have not paid service tax dues for the period
from Oct. 2007 to Dec. 2012, either on account of ignorance of law or otherwise. It is the opportunity for
such persons to pay the "tax dues" and come clean. On payment of "tax dues" relating to the period under
VCES, there will be a complete waiver of interest, penalty and other consequences.
As per the provisions of VCES, any person who is liable to pay Service Tax during the period Oct 2007 to
Dec 2012 but not paid Service Tax can make declaration of tax dues & make payment under the scheme.
Such person should have Service Tax Registration. If such person does not already have a service tax
