Horizon system of coordinates

The demand for greater positioning accuracy with more reliability for waterways and marine positioning is aided with more satellite availability. While GPS from USA, and GLONASS from Russia, have been the mainstay of GNSS for the last few years we have seen three new constellations – QZSS from Japan, BeiDou (Compass) from China and GALILEO from Europe.
This presentation reviews the current status of all the GNSS constellations. Other new developments which will be touched briefly;
-Updated Geoid Model EGM-96,
-Due to doubling of the number of satellites, the corrections needed for precise GNSS, have also doubled so a new correction format is explained.
Furthermore we will tell you something about the latest RTX service (corrections over satellite) and xFILL technology (maintaining your positioning after you lose your GNSS signal).
Celestial sphere
The celestial sphere is a hypothetical sphere of infinite radius, concentric with the Earth, on which all stars and other celestial objects appear to be projected. It allows mapping the positions of stars, planets, and other celestial objects as they appear in the sky and provides a framework for spherical astronomy. The equinoctial system of coordinates divides the celestial sphere into an equatorial and an ecliptic plane using the celestial equator and the ecliptic.
Rotation and revolution

GNSS
Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) allows mappers and resource managers to locate features using satellite positioning. GNSS receivers determine position by measuring distances to at least 4 satellites via signal travel time. Accuracy is typically 10-20 meters but can be improved to 1-5 meters using real-time differential corrections which account for errors. GNSS data can be incorporated into a GIS by converting point, line and polygon features collected using GNSS receivers.
ECDIS NAVIGATION 5
This document provides an overview of differential GPS (DGPS) and its history. It explains that DGPS uses fixed, ground-based reference stations to broadcast corrections to improve GPS accuracy from 15 meters to about 10 cm. GNSS
Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) allows mappers and resource managers to locate features using satellite positioning. GNSS receivers determine position by measuring distances to at least 4 satellites via signal travel time. Accuracy is typically 10-20 meters but can be improved to 1-5 meters using real-time differential corrections which account for errors. GNSS data can be incorporated into a GIS by converting point, line and polygon features collected using GNSS receivers.
ECDIS NAVIGATION 5
